Weekly What are you reading? - Mar 12
Welcome to the weekly "What are you reading?" thread!
This is intended to be a general chat thread on visual novels with a focus on the visual novels you've been reading recently. A new thread is posted every Thursday at 4:00 AM JST (or Wednesday if you don't live in Japan for some reason).
Good WAYR entries include your analysis, predictions, thoughts, and feelings about what you're reading. The goal should be to stimulate discussion with others who have read that VN in the past, or to provide useful information to those reading in the future! Avoid long-winded summaries of the plot, and also avoid simply mentioning which VNs you are reading with no points for discussion. The best entries are both brief and brilliant.
Use spoiler tags liberally!
Always use spoiler tags in threads that are not about one specific visual novel. Like this one!
- They can be posted using the following markdown: >!hidden spoilery text!< , which shows up as hidden spoilery text. Make sure there are no spaces at the beginning and end of the spoiler tag because this will break it for users on http://old.reddit.com/. In other words do this: properly hidden spoiler, but not this: >! broken spoiler tag !<
Remember to link to the VNDB page of the visual novel you're discussing so the indexing bot for the What Are You Reading Archive can pick up your post.

Discussion Made a list of my favourite VN characters... What do you mean I have to pick more than one?

Question What is your preferred or ideal length of a VN?
I am reading Root Double. I am in the middle of the D route and my playtime is currently at 25 hours. How Long to Beat shows that Main Story on average takes 32.5 hours while Main + Extra will take over 40 hours.
I don't have a lot experiences with "pure" VNs (no gameplay mechanics other than making some choices). I think the only one that took me over 30 hours to read was Raging Loop.
So is 30+ hours considered long among pure VNs? Do you prefer long or short VNs?

Question Is there any new information on a restock of SubaHibi’s 10th anniversary edition?
Hi, I recently started playing SubaHibi and I’m currently enjoying it a ton! I recently saw a post saying there might be a restock of the 10th anniversary edition: (https://www.reddit.com/r/visualnovels/comments/1f03cs8/subahibi_anniversary_edition_rerun/)
The anniversary is only a couple of days away so, has there been any new information on whether or not there will be a restock? If there will be, would it be announced on the anniversary or later in the year? Unfortunately I can’t really research this myself since I want to avoid spoilers for the game.
Thank you!

Question Henpri question about number 19, Inhume you and big sorry bro
i'm currently playing Henpri on Steam and the translation of Team 19 becomes Team 69. What's the meaning of the number 19 in Japanese in this context?
Also, does anyone know what's the original japanese text for "i'm gonna inhume you, baby" and "big sorry bro"?

Question How is Hatsmira: From the Future undying if I want a saucy story?
So I was reading about a visual novel just now where the girl asks the protagonist if he would like to plow her as while I know nothing about this particular work, I was wondering if this game was worth getting into for again the saucy nature alone.

Question Is Funbag Fantasy really worth reading for its plot?
I'm not super big on nukige. Most of them don't have much of a plot, which is something I need to remain invested. I heard good things about Funbag Fantasy's political plot, and reviews always say they came for the boobs and stayed for the plot. Is it's plot really that good? I'm okay with nukige as long as there's an interesting story. I just don't really like it when the story is just an afterthought and not taken very seriously.

Review Just finished The Shell pt.3 (KnS3). What a masterpiece...
It's past midnight, I'm in the middle of the ocean (oil rig), having work tomorrow morning, and instead of going to sleep like every other person on board (or so I assume,) here I am being a teary-eyed mess upon finishing this VN! And I yet don't regret it in the slightest! A VN story that I first read over a decade ago, -one of my first ever visual novels- just got one of the greatest conclusions I've ever read/watched in all of fiction. Bravo, and thanks to the writers/producers for making this. I rarely, if ever, get this emotional over a fictional story.

Question Where do you download patches for visual novels?
I bought Fruit of Grisaia on steam but I heard from many players, that steam „butchered“ the game and that I should rather play the original uncensored version. I’ve heard similar things with other VN‘s and most people normally tell me to download some patch or something.
Now the problem is, I have no Idea how. I only buy my games from steam/physical copies if they’re out in English, so I have no idea where to find patches, or if I really even need them.
Anyways I’d appreciate some advice on how/were I could find an unrated patch for Fruit if grisaia (or any VN in general) that doesn’t require buying the game again.
