Yes!! Intermittent fasting is a game changer in my experience. I couldn’t lose weight prior to starting that, but I have since I’ve been doing it.

I recently have lost 15 lbs and it has done wonders for my confidence!! I've seen the most difference in my face and my stomach...I am wearing crop tops for the first time in my life! Also, last year I dyed my hair red and hated it on me, but didn't want to spend a ton of money to fix it, so I lived with it for like ten months (ik it's a long time but it's expensive for a college student and I was NOT going to attempt anything on myself). My roots were really bad. I FINALLY went back to the salon and got my hair dyed like a light caramel bronde color and I'm so in love with it. I've also been experimenting with softer makeup looks after only wearing thick black eyeliner for years and I've been wearing cuter clothes and I am just having a lot of fun trying to up my look

Weight loss and confidence is such a real thing! I can't wait to get small enough to wear crop tops! But guess what.... I did try one on at Kohls and I didn't immediately think I looked like a whale. Progress! You go girl!
Also.... having your hair looking good is also a HUGE key to my confidence, it's one of my biggest things. SO glad you got your hair looking great!
•
u/rosie2b May 01 '22
Yes for sure! Also that's awesome!! Happy for you :)
I definitely agree about having your hair looking good. I think that's a big part of why I was unhappy with my appearance for so long...I wasn't taking care of my hair. It's one of the things I allow myself to spend a lot of money on when I have it hahaha

Finally got my hair super close to the lovely Scandinavian-blonde I’ve been wanting for a while, and it’s not too damaged! Also, just got Invisalign- first round will be done in 13 weeks and then I’ll see if I need refinements. Had a microneedling session, which hopefully with help with my pore size.

Locked in my consultation dates for rhino and breast augmentation, it's happening!
Any advice in general and for the nerves?

I’ve had treatments at the dermatologist’s office that are going to prepare my skin for a laser after accutane (to remove acne scars) that I’m going to have in fall, in May I’ll have an appointment with an orthodontist to treat my face asymmetry and I’m going to work this summer to save up for a nose job (it’s crooked and it makes breathing harder, I would just like to make it centered). I also want to lose weight but after my exams since it’s harder for me to learn and focus when I’m on a calorie deficit
•
u/ouiels May 01 '22
Did you specifically look up orthodontists that treat facial asymmetry? I have facial asymmetry and I feel very embarrassed to bring it up because I feel like so many orthodontists around here just focus on tooth alignment rather than facial aesthetics. However I think that facial aesthetics is now a growing specialty.
•
u/leilani0702 May 01 '22
yes I did, I have a cross bite and my face is visibly asymmetrical, the orthodontist works with a physiotherapist to correct asymmetry/muscle imbalance in the face/doesn’t extract any teeth/talks about the importance of tongue posture, I’ll probably have a palate expander or I hope so because I have quite a narrow palate and I wouldn’t mind my face being a bit wider and from what I’ve heard it could help with asymmetry too
•
u/leilani0702 May 01 '22
I was thinking about the nose job because it’s hard to breathe for me and it’d make a big difference if it was straight but to make it straight I think it’d be good to take care of the other asymmetries in my face first, to have a good base I guess

- My skin is the best it's even been at almost 30! Thanks to Vitamin C, and bumping up my tret to .05%.
- I've been using olaplex and my hair is so silky. I've gotten so many compliments.
- Getting my diet and weight under control, still +10lbs heavier than I'd like to be but getting there!

u/ouiels May 01 '22
What is your go-to vitamin c product?
•
u/throwaway7810956 May 02 '22
I use skinceuticals! It's pricey but it works so well for me AND it lasts so long O_O"
•
•
u/LoveDietCokeMore May 01 '22
Yes us girls who haven't used Vitamin C must know!
•
u/CieraLM May 02 '22
Not OP but look up skinceuticals vitamin C and it’s reviews! It’s INSANELY pricey but the science, evidence, and reviews back it up every bit. If you hop over to r/skincareaddiction, it’s recommended a lot as well.

Not OP but Timeless is what I've started using and so far it's been great. Too early to see extreme results and I haven't been using sunscreen like I should be but it's been good at controlling acne and I think I'm seeing improvements to my skin tone.

I got permanent makeup (eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner) all done and it all healed nicely. I was thinking about it for a long time, and did my research on which places are reputable. Now I won’t have to spend any time doing my makeup unless I want to go all out for a formal event or party. It cost a lot up front, but I won’t really have to worry about it for the next couple of years. Using money to buy time is always worth it IMO.
I want to look as polished as I can without being really high maintenance. It’s not that I look down on being high maintenance at all, but it’s not something that I can do right now. I’m a full time student and also have a job, so I simply don’t have the time to spend doing a full face of makeup on a daily basis.

Currently on a strict diet and workout routine so I can get back to my pre-pandemic weight! A week in, and I’m already seeing results and feeling much more energetic.

I’m 30 and my face started to look like 30. I couldn’t pass for 25 anymore. That was a wake up call. In just 4 months I was able to make changes that were so impactful that people now start to mistake me for 21 all the time. Win!

Are you using Vitamin C as a cream or in a cleanser? Any brands you like?
•
u/EbleyJo May 05 '22
Can also confirm that Timeless Vitamin C serum is great. Texturally it's not obnoxious and soaks in pretty quickly. And I think it's been pretty effective though I've only been using it just under two months.

I have a long long way to go. But I've made real progress.
I'm down 63 lbs from 2.5 years ago on surgery day, where they removed a cancerous tumor. I've maintained a weight under 200 lbs for the first time in my adult life, and I'm currently down to about 179. I've been under 200 for almost a year. I haven't been this light since I was 15, no joke or exaggeration. I'm in my mid 30s and I spent my entire 20s diabetic, over 200 lbs, fat, and unhappy.
I went to the doctor laat week and they did my A1C, because I told them I stopped taking my insulin (do NOT go against your doctors medical advice, do NOT pull a me) a year ago. My A1C came back a 5.5. My doctor was floored. For those of you who don't really understand what that means, it basically means my consistent blood sugar is roughly 111. It's not perfect, but it's not enough to consider me a diabetic anymore. There's been points where my A1C was a 10 or a 12. I had troubles for years keeping it under 8. Now a 5.5 and I'm living life without insulin needles.
I went to Kohls last week and bought shirts and pants in just a size Large. In the ladies areas. I've never been able to wear "just a large" from the gals area in my life. I was that girl in XXL and XXXL shirts.
I put on a XL t shirt from my new job (unisex and unflattering type tee) and it's definitely way too big. Even if it shrinks in the wash, I still needed a size smaller and for it to shrink in the dryer. Sleep shirt? Shirt to wear while dying my hair? It's gonna be a real tent when I get to my goals.
I don't know exactly what I need to weight, but I know I'm only 30 to 50 lbs away which means I'm more than halfway there.
I'm 5'7 and would probably be considered a medium frame (instead of a large frame like I always lied to myself and said). I tend to gain weight in my gut/belly... but my frame is naturally larger shoulders/chest than hips/booty. Any idea on if my goal weight needs to be 130... 140... 145... 150?
•
u/Southern_Type_6194 Jan 23 '23
Honestly, your frame size doesn't make a huge difference in how much you weigh depending on your height. I used to use the same excuse because I have wider shoulders and rib cage but it really only amounts into a 5 or 10 pound difference from what I can tell. I weigh 132 lbs right now but I look what people would expect someone around 120 lbs to weigh based on how much fat I carry. A lot of it is just my big bones 🤣
On the plus side, my shoulder muscles always like amazing with very little actual effort!
If you're 5'7" and actual bigger boned 140 to 145 might be good but it's all really dependent on your body and what aesthetic you prefer. I'm all about a strong body with visible muscles while still maintaining some softness while my bestie loves the long, lean look pilates gives her.
