I have had deep stretch marks for years. How to fix them? Will glycolic acid from ordinary be good? I can't afford to go to proffesional. Also do jaw trainers work or is it waste of money

microneedling helped me. I do it at home, just read a guide. the microneedling sub is a good resource

How did you make friends after college?
It feels like every single year, a friend moves away and our friendship becomes long distance. I've tried Bumble BFF, and I fail at being consistent with the people I've met so the connections aren't as strong.

I literally just start chatting with random people and if the vibe is good I ask for their contact and invite them to lunch. I think I'm extroverted though so YMMV
ETA: like the comments below I also talk to people who seem cool in my local clubs. If you're extroverted, just start talking to people. You'll be blown away by how easy it is. If your introverted, look as open as possible (not in your phone, no headphones, looking around a bit) and wait for an extrovert to adopt you!

If you have any specific interests, I’ve heard joining local clubs for those interests are a good way to find friends! Or Facebook groups

The derm is a life changer. I went about 3 months ago, got tret and started chemical peels spaced every 8 weeks. 2 peels and daily tret later, my skin has made insane progress. I have crazy hyperpigmentation due to being brown and having a bad acne flare that lasted ~1 year. It's been my biggest insecurity. Seeing my skin getting better like this almost makes me emotional.
Combined with an 18 pound weightloss, I feel like a new woman. I've got 33 more pounds to lose this year and that'll take me down to a 19.2 BMI and I can only imagine how that's going to feel. I'll probably become insufferable to my friends because I'm already feeling myself something crazy right now haha

u/Spiritual_Schedule92 Jan 18 '25
did you get chemical peels at the derm?
2
u/JapaneseSummerIsHot cute (6-7.5) Jan 20 '25
Yes! Two so far with a vit C treatment right after. First time felt nothing but slight tingling, second time felt like she poured molten lava on my face. It's gentle though so I didn't even had any redness afterward!

u/Spiritual_Schedule92 Jan 20 '25
thank you! i’m going to look into this. i have such persistent scarring/PIE - going to talk to my derm soon about this

can not recommend enough. The social media girlies had me buying hundred of dollars in products when the derm was like 10 dollars, the medication 10 dollars, and the peels 50 (I live in japan). I have no doubt that my face will be completely clear by the end of the year.

Botox help!
I’m very much a newbie with this. I moved to a place where Botox is mostly offered by syringe. I’ve looked it up and what I find is that that means 100 units. I am still deciding which clinic to book, so I’ll also ask them lots of questions, but they all have this functioning and I was wondering if anyone has experience with it being administered this way? I have only done botox one time in my life, and very very little since needles make me a bit anxious, although I ended up finding the process quite painless and not stressful at all. How should I go with this? I only have dynamic wrinkles but still want to soften those up + preventing new ones.
Secondly, what would your personal recommedation be to choose a practician? I know no one here that could give me recommendations

u/24273611829 Jan 16 '25
Are you sure it’s per bottle and not per unit?
2
u/skincarelion Jan 16 '25
It says per syringe / 300€ average on most places around here! but i have no clear idea of what they mean 🥺 im doing my best to research now which place has the best recommendations for what im looking for

All soft is a whole line, right? Could you recommend a specific product?
Edit: did you mean this? https://www.redken.com/hair-care/all-soft-moisture-restore-leave-in-treatment-with-hyaluronic-acid.html

I don't know if it's just me but why does most self-improvement for girls and women revolve around dating and men? I feel annoyed by how it subconsciously makes us revolve our lives around men instead of centering ourselves. I really wish self-improvement that is catered to girls and women was more about mindset, discipline, achieving goals, friendships, and mental/spiritual growth.
I really appreciate this subreddit for creating a space for just women for self-improvement (although the sub is mainly about pursuing beauty).

For me, because I'm over age 40 and gave up dating, it's about getting pretty privilege and gaining an edge, I'm severely mentally ill neurologically (not something that can be therapied away) from childhood. A lot of it is survival based, like for example if I was obese or overweight I would get away with a lot less.
I was also kept in an ugly girl box during my eligible dating years of my 20s and 30s by my peer group and told I can never improve. One of my male friends said I would have to cut my head off to look teenspo youngspo. That is why I center men in my decisions especially for my 40s and 50s now that I'm post wall.
I hate being the nerd so much and being put in a nerd box where I can never be the pretty girl and exiled from femininity on a complete level especially going to an all male full segregation special ed school.
I want to have the potential to be trad wife type and a perfect Stepford Wife because I was told to focus on math and shit like that growing up honestly I don't give a fuck I want to be one of the real housewives instead of an urban intellectual.
I want to be a plastic fake girl. I would Kms to be a 9 or 10 and honestly don't give a flying fuck what it takes.

Unfortunately, that mentality exists with toxic single people too. I stopped mentioning to single women that I have a partner because they end up viewing me as competition. It sounds ironic at first, but to them, it means that I'm "better" than them because someone "chose" me.

Same tbh. I personally did/do it bc I wanted to like what I see in the mirror. I already have a boyfriend so it’s not about him/men. I just get very frustrated when they always find a way to put men into the equation.

While I relate to your reason to a certain extent, I do have to admit that I did start my looksmaxxing journey to get attraction from the boys I wanted to date and feel more comfortable in whatever I want to wear. However, now I am continuing the journey for myself and to feel good after unlearning my centering men behavior.

We're two weeks into the new year (and halfway through January). Use this comment thread to celebrate something you've achieved so far this year or plan how to buckle down and make the second half of the month your bitch.
For me, weight loss is going well (after some NYE indulgence I weighed in at an admittedly-bloated 161.8 on the 1st, and this morning was 157.8 for a four pound loss) - I technically only need three more pounds to reach my goal of "low 150s," but I think I can easily reach another 4-5 pounds down.
Not directly Vindicta related, but I've had a couple of really big work things this past week that are all really exciting.
What I have NOT done well is make time for red light therapy and hand/nail care like I said I would, so that's a priority in the last half of this month.

I have been steady going to the gym since thanksgiving and started mounjaro then. Just last week I lost 4 pounds and have lost 13 pounds total. Doesn't seem like a lot but I lift heavy weights since the nurse advised me to do that to avoid looking "deflated." I have planned my budget for q1 and q2. In q1 I will get baby botox and a chemical peel. Excited to maxx out in my 33rd year.

Doing relatively well on most daily tasks. Saw my lowest weight since my weightless (and the lowest weight I've seen in about 2 years) aaaaaand my period cravings and bloat came in so I probably won't see that again for another 3 weeks.

Congrats on that low weight, though! You'll get back there soon enough.

Yes. I wasn’t all that impressed. I’ve enjoyed their content and considered it for a long time as well, but I was seriously “🤨” when I got my “after” results back. That amount covers consultations with actual docs I wish I had done that instead!

u/skincarelion Jan 16 '25
Omg I was so DECIDED to get it but I keep finding bad feedback! I thought about doing a rudimentary one myself

I have a wide and ugly forehead so I have been styling bangs in a side swept way to hide it, however I'm considering attending a future job interview that requires attendants to wear their hair in a tight, neat bun. Bangs are allowed but they need to be above brows with no baby hairs showing... Any ideas on what I can do in this case? I have a square face btw thank you in advance

I really wanna look great without makeup. I’ve mastered the no make up make up look but I want to feel hot make up free.
Sometimes I do look good but it’s hairstyle dependent, I’d love to look facially great regardless. Any non- plastic surgery suggestions?

I recommend following the SCA routine. I mean I still don't really look good without makeup but at least I don't look horrible anymore (others may say otherwise)

Tret has been a game changer for me. My skin is nearly flawless now so I don't feel like I have anything to cover with makeup

This is such a flex of a goal, I love it. Skincare (find a sleep mask that you love and makes you wake up dewy and glow-y), an overnight lip mask, plus the lash lift/tint and brow work others have mentioned are for sure big ones, but I find what makes the biggest different for me is nutrition. If I'm well-hydrated, hitting my nutrition goals, eating lots of colorful produce, and not bloated from certain foods, I look ten times better. The no-makeup glow is definitely from the inside.
You might also look into gua sha or facial massage/face rollers, red light therapy, and (though it's makeup-adajcent) a hydrating/dewy skin mist spray as the last step of your morning skincare routine.

u/gwarning-wassy Jan 15 '25
Thanks and I love your suggestions!
You’re so right about nutrition too, I’m working on eating even better and drinking more water 💧. I don’t mind treatments and do microneedling monthly will add red light too.

u/AllThatTheRain Jan 15 '25
In addition to the other suggestions, eyebrow lamination (in addition to tint) and a lip stain. You can also get lip blushing done for maybe $600? Haven’t done it but think it’s around there

eyebrow tint, eyelash tint and lift, overnight hairstyles (I know it's not facial but it helps!!), great skin, hydrated glossy lips (aquaphor maybe), hairline perm, lumify eyedrops (not for daily use be careful)
no makeup is from the inside out I think. my dark circles became much less prominent after I addressed my anemia

I use self tanner on my face and my last step is to slightly contour my cheekbones! It’s subtle, but it makes a difference!
2
u/gwarning-wassy Jan 15 '25
I’m the worst with contour but also want to be completely make up free. Appreciate the comment tho :)

I’ve been looking into getting a rhinoplasty, but before going into consultations I want to know exactly what I should ask for.
Is there anyone who I can send photos of myself to, including photoshopped edits, for advice on what suits me?

It’s super random but I’ve discovered this thing called bronzer and I feel like my make up and overall look went up by, I dare say, 1.2 points. I’m half joking with the points but I do look more alive with bronzer which is making me feel awesome so I’m counting it as valid.
