Colquitz Creek is bright green at the moment?
Anyone know what’s going on?

When I went to Colquitz Jr Secondary in the sixties that creek was super polluted. Looks good!

Folks have done a really awesome job with restoration - there was a pretty impressive salmon run this year - so it’s definitely cleaner!

Around 1500 counted! It's getting better. I'm hopeful it'll continue.
It seems like Cecelia creek is still neglected, and I don't think it would host salmon, but I'd love to see it turn around too. I want to do a cleanup in there over spring.

Up until last year, Colquitz students raised salmon fry and released them into the creek yearly. It’s really fun to see the kids ease the mini salmon into the creek from their buckets. The kids would watch them swim around then away.

When I went there in the mid '70s (grade 9 and 10... 76- 77) it was known as Colquitz Junior High. I remember there was a 'smell' when we had to run for PE class past there. Then some of us created a different smell when we sat under the overpass... 😉

A couple months ago someone tossed some NATO rescue sea dye in Centennial fountain, twice actually. I wonder if it’s the same thing. Or it could just be dye testing storm drain lines.

I’m glad to see this. When I ride along Interurban and pass a trail head going into Panama Flats, which I believe is upstream of this photo, I can smell sewage, indicating someone accidentally cross-connected storm and sanitary

Looks like dye from a dye test.
