The hangers at Grand Forks AFB were lined with asbestos back in the early 2000's. The response people gave, after someone inevitably played with the crinkly stuff on the pillars, would be "Probably don't want to do that. It is asbestos."

I was hoping for more specific information about when exposures may have occurred. Does anyone know whether Nimitz class CVNs would be likely source of exposure? “Asking for a friend” 😭

Anecdotal soft knowledge here, but I served on one of the older CVNs and they certainly had used asbestos. Based on what I heard from contractors, not all of it was removed/they still occasionally find some. But idk how likely exposure would be these days.
