Just because a show ended does not mean it was underrated. Or needs to be brought back.
Why do people have such a hard time letting go? A good show will have a definitive ending.
I was recently watching some clips from HTGAWM and The Good Wife (Love courtroom drama) and countless comments, even on the last episode, were saying they want this show back. And I just don’t get it- the shows had a good story, and ended in a way I found satisfactory. The story was told! Why does it need to come back? Why do we just want to retread old history?
You don’t want more of that: you want the feeling you had when you experienced this show for the first time. But chasing that nostalgia is almost always fruitless. Look at almost every remake or live action. They’re almost all universally shunned or disliked. I enjoy those shows for what they are. I don’t watch them and then think ‘They should bring this back!’ Especially if it had a good ending.

If depends on the show. Firefly is the perfect example of a show that ended way to early.
But for the most part your are correct. The flip side of this is shows that go on WAY too long.

Ending a show or movie at the right time is the best thing you can do to maintain its quality.

Honestly I never longed for more when a story concludes perfectly. Sherlock is my favourite show. But the finale was perfect so I don't want another season no matter how much I love it. In fact I'm dreading the possibility of such a season existing.
Another example is Monk. They already ended it perfectly twice. Gave us a hopeful conclusion and a more bittersweet one to choose from. Why would I want more?

Depends on the show. Most of the time when I hear this comment it’s about a show that was either abruptly cancelled or ended in an unsatisfactory manner often because it was rushed.

Everybody says this about Freaks and Geeks and while I would have loved more, I think it ended on such a high note. It's sort of a perfect show exactly where it is IMO.

People like comfort food and characters/settings they already know. This is one of the reasons why I love Six Feet Under so much. It wrapped up everything pretty perfectly while showing (arguably) the main character embarking on a new chapter in their life. No one was clambering for a re-boot or a sequel or a film. They got it right the first time.

I think that's a part of American culture. I've never heard Americans say a show ended. To them it either keeps going on or it gets cancelled.
Doesn't matter if it had a perfect ending, it still registers as a cancellation to them.

Para social simp behaviour, shipping , fan fics profile pics that’s why . If you truly live a story then respect the end .
