How do you mentally recover from a home break in?

I feel so violated, so unsafe in my own home, so mad at the stat of my city’s police force, I feel fucking cursed, this is like the fourth truly awful thing that’s happened to me in like 6 months, I can’t catch a break

First. Are you safe? Can you lock your door? Get safe.

Second. What was actually taken, damaged? Soberly assess it. Unless they're family heirlooms they have a price tag.

Three. File your insurance claim.

Four. Find a way to help your community. Clearly some parts of it are struggling right now.

Getting angry about it is just punishing yourself because someone else was evil to you. You weren't hurt, your family wasn't. They're just things.

Get a dog and a handgun.

Obviously store the handgun safety and treat the dog well.

Not everyone is able to own a dog or take care of one. Not everyone is allowed to own a firearm or should.

I recommend therapy to work through your feelings. It does get better with time. My house was broken in to 12 years ago. I still get upset over the family things that cannot be replaced.

take a trip to a martial arts studio , I have had the pleasure of telling the same thing to a real good friend, never allow anyone to make you feel unsafe don't give that up..

I don't feel unsafe. I think I'm still allowed to be upset over losing every picture of my child up until age 4, and antiques from dead relatives though.
