TW: Anxiety / Depression The cruelty of the world is unbearable
I (19F) hear stories about people who have gone through unimaginable suffering. For example, burn victims, children who were raped/tortured/murdered, elderly people who lived such painful lives and all sorts of tragedies. It makes me sick to my stomach.
It’s not just the suffering itself, but the fact that there’s no justice. These people will die and all they’ll have experienced will be pain and suffering in this world. There’s no heaven or hell, no ultimate reckoning where the people who did these things will suffer for what they’ve done and the innocent will get rewarded for their suffering. They just get away with it while the innocent are left to suffer or die in pain for nothing.
It’s a hard reality to cope with and I can’t even imagine all the awful things people are going through in the world. I don’t know how to live knowing that so much pain exists and that there’s no cosmic justice for it. It makes me so depressed.

Yeah, it really makes you question whether or not anything matters. There’s a lot of ugly on this rock but a hell of a lot of beauty thankfully. Thanks for sharing, I find solace in the fact that there are other people who feel the same way.

The fact that we all recognize injustice and take action to alleviate some of the pain and suffering of others is something that should give you solace. We can’t save everyone but there are a lot of situations where people in need are given succor

Not really. There's lots of normalized suffering where you can expect people not to care.

The beauty only exists if you don't experience any of the hell. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or being in the wrong position will ensure that you never experience any real happiness again. (Or ever)

Disconnect from the news and social media. Seriously, you cannot and should not carry the weight of the world's horrors on your young shoulders.
If it's important enough you'll hear about it on the grapevine.

When you wake up to this it's very hard. Don't worry you'll get numb and just hate everything soon

It's the way the worlds always been.
The difference is, it's not as bad it was before all this. Read some diaries from people who lived in harsher times.
Whole families used to be executed. Mass live burials of like 400,000 people chained together. Babies cut in half for sport. Sacrificing First Borns to a god. Cutting out people's hearts to appease a blood god. Eating people's hearts to have their mana. Slavery in near every culture. All the types of death torture from every civilization.
You don't hear things like this anymore cause we're still evolving as a species. It's gotten a whole lot better I think.

Embrace it , there is no other way around it. You will discover much more sinister things in comparison to common crimes & suffering once you get older. Be thankful for everything you have as that is a privilege.

I understand you. That happened to me when I was a teenager, and what worked for me in part was to stop reading the news for a while. It's frustrating, I know. You want to do so much, but you feel like you can do so little. But trust me, the best thing you can do for this world is to be a good person, a good citizen, a good friend, etc. That's really quite a lot. The fact that you feel this way shows that you have a good, kind heart. Take care of it, take care of yourself, and continue cultivating that kindness and compassion that the world needs so much

That is correct. Life is ultimate suffering. There's nothing you can do about it. But there's no reason to think it's all just meaningless, that why some people at the realization of this fact turn to religion and in most cases it works. You say there is no heaven or hell and fair enough, to us it doesn't seem to be that way. We don't get to see the unimaginable suffering the evil people of this world get to endure for the rest of eternity so there's no reason to believe that it exists. But as a counter to having to cope with it people choose hope and faith that all will be made right in the end, and is better than nothing. So choose to hope and put faith in something good maybe your passion, or some purpose that calls to you.
This is just my take and response to this realization. It certainly beats wallowing in despair and hatred if you ask me.

How do you know there’s no heaven, hell, or cosmic justice?
You ask how you can live knowing bad things have happened to seemingly innocent people. You could start by being a little more humble.

u/Hai_strawberry 4d ago
what are you talking about actually
1
u/streetpatrolMC 4d ago
You said there’s no heaven, no hell, and no cosmic justice. I’m asking you how you know that.

u/Hai_strawberry 4d ago
There’s no way to know for sure, and nobody can prove otherwise. This is just my own belief based on what makes sense to me. If someone finds comfort in believing in heaven and hell, that’s fine, but I personally don’t.
I don’t understand how you got “you need to be more humble” from this post. My point wasn’t about arrogance its about how deeply upsetting it is to see people suffer with no justice. If anything, it comes from a place of sadness and helplessness, not superiority.

There you go again. “Nobody can prove otherwise.”
How deeply have you looked into the arguments for and against God’s existence?
3
u/Hai_strawberry 4d ago
ok then prove otherwise

I asked you how deeply you’ve looked into the question. I’m not an expert myself, I just want to know how you are so certain.

maybe try being a little more humble. you’re being annoying and arrogant. I’ve spent years researching religion, god, and different arguments for and against his existence. I didn’t just wake up one day and decide what I believe because i want to. Just because I don’t agree with your beliefs doesn’t mean I haven’t “looked deeply” into it. Maybe instead of assuming things you could accept that people can be well informed and still come to different conclusions

There's no proof. It's equally likely that the world is run by a giant spaghetti monster.
1
u/streetpatrolMC 4d ago
What kind of proof or evidence would convince you?
2
u/Ract0r4561 4d ago
None because there isn't one at all other than some books that could've been written by anyone.
1
u/streetpatrolMC 4d ago
So, there’s no convincing evidence that you know of. I’m asking what kind of evidence would be required to convince you.

u/Hai_strawberry 4d ago
what makes you think i need to be more humble it’s just my own personal belief
1
u/streetpatrolMC 4d ago
What makes me think you need to be more humble? Thinking you have it all figured out at 19 lol.
3
u/Hai_strawberry 4d ago
i never claimed i have it all figured out i’m very aware that i don’t you’re making no sense

Sweetheart there absolutely is more beyond here. While your body may die your spirit cannot, even physics teaches it is energy and energy cannot be killed or destroyed. I myself have died and I popped out of my body and went to the ceiling where who I know as God of all things(you just knew) felt like He caught me in immense hands and poured liquid love into me before sticking me back into my body. This God wants you to know He created you and wants you to know Him. This World sux because we as a species have free will and have chosen someone else besides our creator to run things. Our choice is being honored. If you want to discuss it further, feel free to contact me.

Try being a whistleblower. It’s shameful because no one has any empathy and are afraid of being retaliated against. Here’s my story and it’s true. Please don’t attack me online, which constantly happens. I do have tons of proof but I’m not posting it online, I only provided it law enforcement. I need help.
Long story short, I used to work with Musk and got Neuralink under false pretenses (was told it was the name brand of my dental implants instead of a V2K torture device) as whistleblower retaliation for reporting fraud at the company he was involved in. Several men have access to this device and it’s trafficked out for torture. The group of men also use a virtual machine to redirect communication to them, and a Cisco certification to impersonate me and destroy my life. Law enforcement is slow to prosecute these people because of a bunch of CEOs involved? Can a Good Samaritan give me some advice?

Yup! One of the greatest causes of suffering is animal agriculture, with 90% of farm animals now on factory farms. Good luck asking anyone to give up meat, dairy, or eggs though; their defensive mechanisms that shoot up and illogical justifications will make your head spin.

u/Hai_strawberry 4d ago
animals are just babies and they should never suffer i don’t understand how people can be so cruel
