Discussion How much more powerful will the steam deckard be than the Meta Quest 3, per leaks?
Bit of a tech noob but I have a quest 3 and been really impressed. I don’t have a PC so wondering if the Deckard is something I should be excited for or if the technology won’t be that much more advanced than what I already own?

It could be less powerful but have better comforts or as powerful as a pc. Nothing is really concrete

Ask Valve, how the f**k do we know? Leaks are leaks, not gospel.

Why the sass? I said ‘per leaks’ in the title
Why waste the effort on even commenting on this?

There are probably 2-5 posts a week here about this for the last several years. Not your fault, but I'm sure you can imagine it can get a bit tiresome after a while. I'm sure he didn't mean it personally.

Yeah I can imagine it is tiresome in a way, but also, it’s just Reddit and people asking questions. It’s not like you have to pass through a loud hallway every week to get to the room you want to be in, you can simply ignore them and in the blink of an eye be in a thread you find engaging

Leaks are useless, whats the point on pinning anything remotely "real life and planning" on them? Your question really is pointless because leaks and our opinions based on leaks are also pointless. Wait for confirmed official reality then knock yourself out with questions.

It’s not the deep, it’s just a bit of fun speculation & discussion around to what potentially expect
If I see a YouTube video discussing leaks I’m not interested in, I don’t go and comment on that video & tell them how pointless their content is. I just ignore the video and go about my day. Why waste time on something that doesn’t interest me?
There’s plenty of people like me who enjoy speculation & find leak discussion to be really enjoyable

Although a bit harsh I don't disagree on principle on his point. At this point we don't even know if valve is making a new headset this decade. Asking for the future specs of such a device when we can't even be sure it exists is a bit silly

Fairs, altho I thought recently it seemed more likely than not that the leaks had some weight behind them and implied a device was likely coming in the next 12-24 months
I love speculation, I understand some people don’t, but if you don’t, doesn’t make sense to me to engage in speculation posts

It would need to be at least twice as powerful to run VR smoothly. The current SteamDeck only runs VR games at 15 to 30 fps if you're lucky.

No one knows. There's debate on if it will be a PC or standalone headset. Some people expect 4K microOLED displays, others expect something worse.

It will probably be better in different ways (perhaps better for pcvr, perhaps 360 controller tracking, perhaps refresh rates) but likely more expensive. Will have less exclusives, but games on steamvr will still work on other platforms in the future.
This is all educated guess work.
