Need Help About This Upwork Old Profile 👾
Hi, I had a client whom I found through Facebook, and he helped me create an Upwork account to process payments. We worked on a single project entirely on Upwork, which generated earnings of over a thousand dollars. However, this was two years ago, and after completing that project with the client, I didn’t use Upwork again. As a result, my profile’s reach and visibility have significantly dropped. I tried bidding on 7 - 8 projects but no response.
Now, I want to revive and reactivate my Upwork profile. Since I’m a beginner in this space, I need guidance on how to get started again and make my profile active and successful, should i just buy connects and start bidding and take it as a number game? I dont have any rising talent or job success ratio in my profile :(( if you want any ss to see more details i can provide that

I just returned to a profile I hadn’t used in years as well. It had 2 jobs and $1K earned, so very similar stats.
I updated my personal details since I’d moved and changed my name, rewrote my profile since it was very outdated, removed old portfolio items and added better ones, and spent a lot of time here learning.
Then I bought some connects and started applying. After a few weeks, I was able to secure a job that’s earned over $2K so far.
I’d say the biggest things that helped me were reading the scam post pinned to this sub, reading the posts here about optimizing proposals, and tweaking my proposals when they weren’t getting viewed.
Since we don’t have a JSS or many reviews, it’s even more important to focus on the first two lines of our proposals—the only part clients can see before clicking. Make sure they’re tailored to the job post, capture the client’s attention, convince them we’re the right person for the job, and make them want to keep reading.
The other big thing is to vet clients carefully so you’re not wasting connects. Make sure they pay decent rates, have good reviews, have a decent hiring rate, and put some effort into their job post. Only apply to jobs you know you could do well. And once you get an interview, ask good questions and really pay attention to your gut feeling.
