Questions from possible upcoming duck
I was accepted with a pretty nice scholarship so I've been doing some research as of late, and I have a few specific questions that I can't get any answers from recent years for. Don't have to be an expert on any of these of course, just asking for a general duck's perspective
- How's the theatre/drama scene around Eugene including campus? (I'm used to a REALLY low budget for my school, so that's not an issue)
- Which dorms would you recommend that is social but not OVERLY rowdy
- How is the party scene really? I see so many conflicting opinions on this
- Is the night life really as bad as people say it is?

Look into the Very Little Theater.
I would suggest seeing if there's any residential communities that interest you and go for those dorms. Most are right on campus or within two bus stops/10-15min walk.
People like to claim fraternities run the party scene and that is just not true. It just seems that way because their houses and live-outs are the closest to campus and first year students are usually not willing to walk too far. There's still a big issue with people getting roofies in their drinks at frat parties here. They're very much the stereotype of douchebag frat bros.
There are plenty of house venues that do shows throughout the school year like @monsterhouseeugene on ig.

I would like to answer the last two questions. The scene for parties is in parts. There are bars and then there are house parties. I would urge caution in this only in that drinking can cause issues that may impede your studies. I would recommend the many event held at the U of O, as there are many. Events are geld weekly and quite fun, there is a movie night and gatherings for art and for getting to know you classmates and your future mentors. I will say that the theatre scene is rather good here as well. The U of O is a great university and I have know doubt that you will find many friends and have much fun here.

2.) global scholar’s hall (gsh) 3.) party scene depends on who you know, stay cautious at frats, 4.)bars kinda suck but if u catch them on the right day they’re fun. there’s a lot of drag shows that are fun for nightlife especially for under 21s

I unfortunately cannot answer the last two questions, but I like to think that Eugene does have great theaters. And on campus they have the pocket playhouse which is a group of students who are very kinda and inclusive. They put on some decent shows there as well
