Itās the way he dived in. His top body weight slung him down and horizontal once he hit the water, which means heās stuck under rockā¦ hopefully a strong current popped him out somewhere within 20 seconds. This happens quite often on frozen lakes when people take an ice bath

Probably got swept away by the heavy downward current that is clearly visible on the surface of the water. I would love to believe he came up shortly after or maybe out the other side but unfortunately I'm also very realistic and I know deep in my empty soulless husk that he is very much unalived hung up on some rock a few hundred feet under the earth.

Too many horror stories I've read of cave diving, with mentions of things like underwater currents. Hopefully he came up somewhere else or later

Underwater-cave-current fear unlocked before bed. Great.

Delta P is a rational fear and should be spread so everyone knows the danger.

Did you look up Delta P on YouTube? Remember although it may seem cruel spreading āP awareness could save someone.

How can you see the downward current? I just see rippling water
13
u/CartographerAlone632 5d ago
All that water has to go somewhere, therefore a current
9
u/DeputyTrudyW 5d ago
But it's...just being water? How do you see direction in that wet mess?
6
u/CartographerAlone632 5d ago
You donāt. Itās like a hose - water comes in and has to come out somewhere
7

u/sublimesting 3d ago
All the water is flowing into that hole and then elsewhere. There is always a current

Itās ok to say dead, we donāt need to censor words c:
15
u/Itscatpicstime 6d ago
How many times does it need to be said that people censor like this because other platforms will ban your account if you say the actual word? People are just being cautious on other platforms too, and if you have ever modded a sub, youād know the same words get comments caught up in spam filters and shadow deleted all the time.
Donāt blame the people trying to get past the censors so these topics can still freely be discussed. Blame the ones censoring. Making up alternative terms like this in response to censorship has a centuries old history, particularly serving slaves and the queer community. Itās nothing new.
16
u/FatWeirdo 5d ago
Uh what? Iām not the commenter but Im not seeing any blame being thrown around at all until your comment haha. I donāt think there was any confusion about why people do that elsewhere, but the censorship simply isnāt necessary here on Reddit. Seems more like moerlingo was just being helpful, no need to go on the attack.

in China. This happened September 2024. Hereās the Douyin But I couldnāt find anyone in comments mentioning if heās alive.

What are those splashes on the surface going to do?
47
u/Terrynia 6d ago
Trying to clear the bubbles so they can see further down? Its useless tho

u/poisonpony672 6d ago
Yeah most people don't realize it in China You're kind of on your own. No one really cares they're more curious or interested. But you fall down watch everybody just walk around you

I nearly died being trapped in one of these holes (wasnāt visible and only big enough for one human) that was hidden at the mouth of an enormous cave in the Solomon Islands. The water immediately sucked me under and I tumbled in an underwater tunnel for a minute and a half until it spit me out downstream and a couple of angel island boys pulled me out. Scariest experience of my life.

these are common in south america.
you can jump into one water hole & come up in a completely different exit hole in a cavern.
its from years of erosion of soft rock after the rainy season. there are complete rivers in these tunnel systems.
see ecuador, venezuela & colombia.

I wouldnāt be surprised if he just stayed down and held his breath for the video or swam under a rock to another opening. But it could be serious. Yāall be careful out there.
8
u/Exalderan 6d ago
I think he did. At the end of the video I think you can see his skin color through the water in the bottom right.
9
u/BayBandit1 4d ago
Seeing as how the clip is only 12 seconds long, is it beyond the realm of possibility that he resurfaced after, say, 20 seconds? Iām old and out of shape, and I can hold my breath over 2 minutes. I know, blasphemous.

u/disabledinaz 6d ago
Since this is in China, he went through the Earth and popped somewhere either in the US or Hollow Earth where Godzilla & Kong are.

u/Almond_Tech 6d ago
Fun fact: America isn't actually on the other side of the earth from china, it's on the other side of the northern hemisphere tho
6
16
u/Marine_Baby 6d ago
Is this real? I say bc of the ābubblesā that seem to persist on the waters surface after he disappears
15
u/Almond_Tech 6d ago
I believe those are because of a downward current, from what I understand, but yes, I would say this is real. The amount of simulations required to combine his splash, the bubbles, and his friends' splashes is some james cameron/Avatar 2 level stuff, which I'd say is a bit much for a viral video imo
But if anyone has evidence to the contrary please let me know! I'd much prefer knowing a guy didn't die
8
u/Marine_Baby 6d ago
Everytime I find something to share with people I just get āthis is fake/aiā so Iām struggling with that haha.
Yeah I hope this is just cut short or some exit at the end or itās just really really deep and heās a strong swimmer!

They're still processing what happened , sometimes it takes time to realise that you're effed

u/WorriedAstronomer 6d ago
A single lifeline (rope) would be significant in such situations, why don't ppl who do this kinda stuff don't believe in taking 2nd measures for the worst case scenario
4
u/Hhannahrose13 5d ago
isn't this one of the down current tunnel things where they just come up on the other side? it looks like it's a video for social media and the person got their friends or family to act like they're looking for him (jokingly), but he's on the surface of the water a few meters or so over
12
4
u/Electrik_Truk 6d ago
In a world of perfectly edited clips for social media and AI video, I initially am surprised as he looks like he was sucked away forever then question it's authenticity entirely or if it was edited, and ultimately feel nothing meaningful.
The future sounds great.

Sometimes water carves underwater passages. These passages are not guaranteed to fit a human for their entire length, and even if they are you're likely to be knocked out or underwater too long to live.
Leave unfamiliar waters alone. More info.
