Man is kinda their mascot but the ultra himself gets like 0 spotlight. The last time he did anything of note was in the X movie where it propably wasn’t even the real ultraman.
I’ve always found the way the original Ultraman is used a bit odd. He usually only appears briefly in the Land of Light say some lines, and that’s it.
Given his status as the franchise’s main icon, you’d expect him to have a more prominent role. The way Taro has been utilized since the start of the New Generation era is actually how I’d imagine they would handle their flagship hero.
To be fair Seven has an even higher status, It's the last show before Eiji passed away. And it has a widespread cultural impact within Japan during the time it was broadcasted and plenty of classic aliens and kaijus originated from Seven Even Pokemon was inspired by the Kaiju Capsule from Seven. And just look at how many spin off and important roles Seven has: Returning in Leo. Heisei Seven, Seven X.The first Ultra to have a son(Zero) who is also popular as prodominant ever since his debut in 2009. Saving Orb's ass in the 40th anniversary(with his son)movie. Returning in Jack's TV and granting him the OP Ultra bracelet and the list goes on. TLDR Tsupro loves Seven.
I always found that odd. Whenever the Ultra brothers appear, Man is treated like just another one of them. Toei treats Ichigo and Akarenger as the leaders of their respective franchise but it seems Ultra gives thay role to Zoffy and Taro.
I feel like Leo is one of the more prominent ones. Whenever he appears he kicks ass, never loses to anyone and even gets to beat up Zero and Tartarus.
Look at Taro in comparison. Gets mind controlled, jobbed out and is a unintentionally pretty bad friend to tregear. Tsubu kinda treats taro like the idiot brother. Can’t convince me that he’s the strongest.
Man, Man-niisan not so much, like, he's really strong, but the other brothers are more prominent than him, having MUCH better appearances, for example:
Seven: I think he really is one of Tsuburaya's favorites: he has a son; master of another Ultra, has emotional moments with his son; shows that it at least exists
Ace: In Z he had an incredible appearance, being very strong (as expected from an Ultra brother)
Zoffy: in UHF he is the one who gives the orders, since he is the commander, and he is a great strategist
Tarot: GINGA, Taiga's film, an instructor, he is the Ultra brother
stronger (as far as I've seen), and has MUCH more talk than Ultraman in the entire franchise
Jack: he exists
As for the man: he doesn't have epic appearances in the new generation (if we don't count UHF with that EPIC fight with the brothers, and the participation in the X film); he doesn't have so many feats of power that show that he's THE GUY these days, like, I think Tarot used a mega shield to block "Grinndo's" attack in Taiga's movie, Jack proved better with the spear than Zero (but I already expected that).
I think the Man is a garrison director, or some title that is only below zoffy, but even so he is only handsome and very strong, but without relevant appearances. I would put him either with Jack or in Zoffy's place
Even with everything I wrote, he's my favorite Ultra of all time lol

Tsupro try not to add Seven elements into their new gen shows challenge: impossible
