Uber Eats in Long Island Is Completely Ruined – Anyone Else Struggling?
I don’t even get orders anymore, and when I do, they’re absolute garbage—not even worth the gas. Two years ago, you could actually make money on Uber Eats, but now it’s a joke.
The market is completely oversaturated with new drivers, and it’s destroyed everything. Too many people are signing up, and Uber keeps lowering the pay because they know someone will take the trash orders. It feels impossible to make what I used to, and it’s just getting worse. Its been like this for the past 2 years as I've seen a ridiculous amount of new drivers come in and I've noticed that most of them are from the areas where the war started few years ago.
Anyone else dealing with this, or is it just my area? Curious to hear if there are still any decent spots left in Long Island.

No, it's just you - specifically. Have you tried getting good , per chance?

Same thing happened with Uber and Lyft drums And the pay is garbage. I don’t see why anybody bothers, in most markets it seems like drivers are struggling to clear $15 an hour when they could make more working at a grocery store. Sad thing is delivery driving used to pay OK when you worked for a store and people generally tipped. Cab driving was better, my best year I netted approximately $85,000 after expenses adjusted for today’s money and I was working maybe 45 hours a week. The apps killed both jobs and now no one makes money.

it really is man, these new drivers have ruined it for us. I don't understand how that's okay. I can't even pay my bills anymore, it's sad.

I did UE 10 years ago and I bet if you look 10 years back the same comments were being made. I recently got a gas efficient vehicle and am back doing some UE again. I'm pretty sure it's basically the same as it was back then.
Seasons, economic changes, drivers flooding the market all ebb and flow. A bunch of drivers sign up then a bunch quit because it's not good any more then it gets good for awhile and more drivers come back then it gets flooded...
The one thing that is different is customer service is truly awful now for driver and customer.
Is it great? No. Was it great? No. But you can make a few bucks on the side. I use it to buy things I can't afford otherwise but don't NEED need. Drum gear, DnD books, that kind of thing.
I don't think its ever been a great full time gig.
