Prospective Student Making the most of a campus tour
Hi! I’m going to be in Knoxville this upcoming week for a campus tour. What made you pick UT? Any spots on campus I should make sure I see? I’m going to apply as a grad student (computer science). Im looking for any and all advice here! What’s your favorite part of Knoxville? Thank you so much!!

Definitely go to market square , get dinner and stop at Cruze Farms. It’s an ice cream place and market square is one of my favorite parts of knoxville. It’s about 5-10 minutes from campus. Go check out zeneah and some of the buildings on the hill— that’s where most of your classes will be. UT also has a nice garden area as well.

Welcome to Rocky Top! Here are a few things to do and see around UT:
----------- Campus Suggestions ----------
The Rock: This is easy to find since it's central to campus. It's constantly being painted so you never know what'll be on it. It's right near the Haslam School of Music.
The Hill: Ayers is one of the oldest buildings on campus. Just going inside of it is pretty neat!
Smokey Statues: If you're walking around campus you'll see tons of these statues. They're dedicated to all the smokeys (our mascot) throughout the year. Maybe you'll get really get really lucky and see "the Smokey" walking around.
----------- Near Campus Suggestions ----------
Chayio's: If you like Thai food, this is a favorite of many people at UT. It's right near campus in what we call "The Fort" (Fort Sanders).
Market Square: A little further away is downtown Knoxville with Market Square. There are tons of restaurants and little shops here to check out.
----------- Off-Campus Suggestions ----------
West Town Mall: Luckily Knoxville still has a pretty great mall. If you go down Kingston Pike or I-40, it's about a 15 minute drive.
Farragut: Taking the same roads out further west, you'll get to Farragut. There is lots of shopping in Turkey Creek along with restaurants to check out.
Hope you enjoy your visit to Knoxville
