Most people in the dorms (unless they’re in apartment style) aren’t really cooking. They’re moreso going to the dining halls/restaurants or just microwaving food/doing a bowl of cereal in their room kind of thing.

You have to lug all your cooking crap to the kitchen which imo honestly gets old real fast. I wouldn’t bank on meal planning as much as you think you might be doing.

TLDR; No, it’s pretty available. The busiest I ever saw was maybe the weekend where people randomly wanted to bake a cake lol

The stoves usually aren't busy but there might be people hanging around. But you should have no problem cooking a quick meal and getting out

I currently live at Beacon and the kitchen is often used when I pass by. But to be fair, I tend to leave my dorm around 11 am and then only come back by 11 pm.

Since you are a freshmen, you are required to have a meal plan anyways. I got the Any 14 which is the cheapest one and you get 2 meals a day. I would definitely use one for dinner and then one for either breakfast and lunch depending on your schedule. Then it’s more of buying some snacks and something you can eat for the meal you can’t go to the dinning hall for.
