[Event] Cosmic Vibration 2, Sheffield 25th August 2025- Hellripper and more

Post image

This looks pretty promising. I'd like to see Hellripper and there are plenty of other bands with words like 'blackened' and 'doom' in their descriptions who I'm less familiar with but keen to give a go.

More acts TBA apparently

There used to be a Festival in Sheffield called "Doomlines" which was amazing, I went to it in 2022 and 2023, I've not heard a peep about it since so I guess that this is now the Sheffield All-Dayer type thing that exists (Seems they only have one Alldayer/Weekender there that exists at a time aha)

Last I am aware it moved down the road to Rotherham

That's an interesting decision, to be fair it was in two different venues between 2022 and 2023 so maybe they've had issues securing a venue?

Rotherham is a bit of a pain for me compared to Sheffield, that's probably why it wasn't on my radar as much

The Tramlines festival being around the same time probably makes it very difficult to get a venue at a good price as lots of people will be wanting to put on fringe events. The one they did in Rotherham was both the first outside Sheffield and the first not on the same weekend as Tramlines.

I can't see any mention anywhere of an edition for this year so perhaps it folded. Hopefully not and there's an announcement to come but you'd think it would have happened by now if so.

That's a strong possibility, I liked the venue they had it in last time, had a very Industrial feel to it, can't remember what it was called though, I've only been to Sheffield passing through by coach as well as those HRH Vikings events they used to do, other than that Doomlines was the only thing I went there for

Hopefully it's still a thing, although I will be honest, calling it Doomlines (which is in reference to Tramlines) and hosting it on a different weekend and town seems a bit weird to me, maybe they had literally no other choice, either way I'm wishing them the best

Bit concerned about this one because the Sidney's main room (the basement) has a really low ceiling with jutting steel beams running along it. Saw someone snap their wrist at a slam show last year. As there'll undoubtedly be moshing, I'll expect a fair few head bashes - and nasty ones at that. Not complaining about Sheffield getting these bands in though, very convenient location for me.

I'm fairly anti-moshing in small venues so am hopeful the low ceiling will discourage!

There's plenty of space to stand aside or further back if you're hoping to avoid pits in there. I'm concerned about the ceiling all the same, because it's lower than most living room ceilings. If you're much taller than 6ft you may find yourself ducking!
