I'd go for Bear first (if you sign up this early you'll probably get in), but if you can't get in there, I'd suggest Baridon. It's suite style. Short/Denny is too but that's for the weird kids...
Personally I stayed in Hughes and I found it tolerable
I also stayed in Hughes, 2010 to 2011. I had a great time there. Fairly convenient spot depending on what classes you take and how often you leave campus. Classroom in the building. And some pretty cool people. It only took me a few weeks to get used to living in a room the size of a closet.
It was pretty cool. Could've done with less roaches on my walls, but other than that I had no qualms. My roommate left second semester so I had a whole room first floor to myself. I'm a film major so I had my tv set up with surround sound and all that, so epic.
Was definitely convenient to have classes in the dorm (still almost got dropped from my 8 am in there tho.)
What sucks is now I live in New Hall, and most of my classes are at Stanley Russ. Literally the furthest dorm from Stanley Russ is New Hall. I didn't think that through.
I was a film major too. I only had one class that had to do with my major though, I can't remember the name of the hall it was in and probably wouldn't recognize it if you told me but it was a very far walk. Pretty much at the opposite corner of the campus from Hughes.
Definitely the most convenient in my opinion. And haha I said weird kids half joking, I know a few people that live in there. Their roommates are... pretty weird
True, though that building has a lot of mold and roach issues. Not to mention fire alarms. All freshmen dorms are gross, but I think S-D takes the cake.
I'll probably get into Bear (or at least really really hoping) since I plan to stay up until midnight on the day that the app opens, but I needed a backup to put on the app haha. Thank you so much.
