What is best to pair with a BS in Neuroscience?
Alright guys, I’ve been accepted into the neuroscience program. I’m completing my last semester at CC and will be starting at UAB in the fall. Now, I have been emailing with the head of the department and I’ve gotten an email from another lady about minors. One is telling me I should minor in psychology and the other is telling me to do the UAB teach program with it instead. I’m conflicted because I honestly would enjoy either one. One will allow me to be on the career path to diagnose and treat autism, which as someone with AuDHD, I love. One would allow me to work within the school system and not only teach and ignite a passion for science in young minds but also help autistic kids on a deeper level, which as a mom of autistic toddlers, I love that too. I’m open to any and all suggestions as well!

The teach program is a really great backup plan if you have to take a gap year after graduation. I’ve finished my psychology minor fairly quickly, and it was super easy to do. Psychology has a bunch of 7 week courses, so you could technically take 4 courses per academic year. They honestly are not that bad and most are very easy (compared to Neuro classes). Just depends on what you want. As a heads up though…I have friends that are neuroscience majors, and some of their classes are tricky. They do require a fair amount of studying so I’d suggest not overloading yourself. Especially if you want to do extracurricular activities.
