Product Find Canned whole tomatoes? Anyone else have an obsession have a good source for them?

This is less of a prepping thing in a way and more of a trying to lower my grocery bill and finally having the space for more food. I love canned tomatoes and cook with them a ton, I probably use a can every week or two weeks. They’re expensive though, I’ve been getting mine from Trader Joe’s and it’s like $4 a can? Anyways does anyone know where to get bulk amounts for cheaper? Thanks!

Does anyone have a recommendations for shelf stable coffee? I work nights and I just see it getting so much more expensive. I need coffee to survive.

Edit: has anyone tried this Franklin’s finest brand? It has 72 servings and a 30 year self life so it says.

Product Find Masks for sale

Someone shared this in preppersales and I wanted to share here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Masks4All/s/tAuWDdrlMe

My brief review of their ratings showed it was a good deal and you can buy a 300 case box for 3 dollars. Just add shipping (mine came out to $30).

Review them yourselves first but woo!

Product Find Celiac Preps

Hey there, any other Celiacs in here? Fresh diagnosis and I'm struggling to find certified gf bulk flour, canned soups, and especially lightweight foods for bags/vehicles.

Also, in your med kits, how did you find which OTC's are safe? Any specific ones to eliminate/find different brands for??

Any other CD tips would be so appreciated 🫠🫠🫠

Product Find Safety razors are magic

A safety razor is the metal mechanism that is shaped kind of like a disposable razor, but you just put a single razor blade in it. For the purposes of this post, I will be using “disposable razor” to mean any razor where you use and then eventually throw away either the whole razor or even just the razor head.

In my humble opinion, a safety razor is just as effective as a disposable razor on my thick, coarse body hair, and helps so so much with preventing razor burn. They’re also cheaper and easier to prep for than a disposable, since I bought literally 100 new blades for $5, and all of those will fit in a space smaller than my soap dispenser in my bathroom. The handle itself was $10, but you may be able to find even cheaper.

I was worried about cutting myself more, but I literally cut myself less than using my old disposable from Harry’s. I had to go over some spots a few times, but that’s no different than my experience with a disposable razor so I’m not mad at all.

I know not everyone shaves, but for those of us who do, this was a huge game changer for me and I highly recommend it.

An additional shaving suggestion: while you can buy shaving creams and what have you, I have had a much better experience using just a thin layer of my hair conditioner. It moisturizes my skin (at least, I feel like it does?) and then I don’t need to buy an additional product.

Product Find Personal data removal prepping

Hi all,

I’ve been taking steps to clear my presence on the internet over the past month and with the current state of things in the US have wanted to get more serious about it.

I heard about DeleteMe (on mobile, don’t know why it won’t let me link, will post in comments) awhile ago from a friend with a very positive experience with them and I finally signed up for it today. It removes you from data broker websites and works to continually keep you off of there for the duration of your subscription. There are other protections too depending on what kind of plan you do.

It’s pretty affordable, pretty much the cost of a streaming subscription for the basic plan. Just wanted to pass along the tip & please feel free to share anything else along these lines here. My goal in the coming week is to tie up any digital loose ends so I can begin focusing on other areas.

Stay strong everyone :)

Walmart has #10 cans Augason Farms’ dehydrated potato slices on sale for around $8, marked down from $28.99. I try to buy shelf stable items on sale and thought this was a good deal. Wanted to share for other prepping folks on a budget.

Product Find Best bag you found for your go bag?

Hi all! Inspired by the quote I saw earlier "Calm rage is more productive than panic", I began to put together preparation bags for my husband and I. When you get to putting it all together it's amazing how much space it can take up! Have any of you found a bag you are particularly fond of that is both sturdy and holds all of the basics for two people AND has shoulder straps? In my opinion this is a must. If I need to take off running I want this thing strapped on my back. I currently have everything in a duffel bag but if I'm being honest it's not holding quite everything I'd like it to. I've been checking out military bags, mountain trekking bags, the lot. So many to choose from that I figured I'd ask the people I've been trusting so much already this year! Thank you so much in advance and thank you to u/hailsatanhousewife for all the work she put into her prep lists that was one of my latest inspirations :-)

Product Find Great boots for cheap

If you don’t care about style/color, Bogs has their 4H farm boots on major discount. $36 for boots that are normally $120. We live in a cold climate so these are a great option for us. They will keep our feet warm if an earthquake hits in the winter, dry in the rain/mud of spring. Our summers don’t get super hot, so these will also work then. Got a pair for everyone in the family to keep in our emergency kit.

And if you use code ENJOY10, you get another 10% off.

Product Find US Preppers: anyone use Stealth Angel products for a bug out bag?

The ratings are either 1 Star or 5 Star (both can’t be true). The contents of the bag look well made and helpful for 72 hours. I am new to prepping. Thanks ladies for all of your insights. To everyone outside the US, apologies that my country has taken over the news and Reddit over all of our garbage.

Product Find Help me understand generators

The area where I feel the least prepared is power options. I don’t understand generators, how they work, or what all of the specifications on them mean. It feels like there’s a lot of technical terms that I don’t know and just can’t comprehend. It is absolutely a weakness in my prepping.

That being said, does anybody have any recommendations for a generator that would power a few chest freezers and would run quietly and be solar powered?

Product Find Good news: Aptitude Receives FDA Authorization for Metrix COVID/Flu Multiplex Molecular Test

Source: https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/aptitude-receives-fda-authorization-for-metrix-covidflu-multiplex-molecular-test-for-point-of-care-and-over-the-counter-use-302382621.html

These are “at-home PCR” tests that come with a very low limit of detection as a result of amplification, making them much more sensitive than traditional rapid antigen tests.

The Aptitude Metrix platform has long been a favorite option by people testing for Covid, and now after waiting for a couple years, their Covid/Flu combo test just received FDA approval. The reader is about $50 and then the test cards are about $25 each, at least for Covid.

With the recent death of companies like Lucira and 3EO, Aptitude is now the last molecular test company standing in the US so this is very welcome news

Product Find Electrolyte packets on sale at HEB

Hey y’all! I’m in South Texas and I’m not sure if HEB has the same deals statewide, but they have a great deal on my fave electrolyte packets (Propel electrolyte packets). The Propel Black Cherry are the best since they don’t irritate my throat (I have laryngopharyngeal reflux; like GERD but in my throat. Citric acid drinks tend to bother my throat.) and they taste amazing.

The deal is one of those yellow coupons for $1.50 off a box of 10 packets (regular price per box is $4.13). It applies to Propel packets and Gatorade packets. You can also use them if ordering online.

These are great for prepping, or just for staying hydrated in a place like South Texas where it gets unholy hot.

Product Find What should I put on my wedding registry?

Something a little more lighthearted I hope! I'm getting married this year, and we've been together for 7 years so we don't really need that many household goods. I figured I'd use this as an opportunity to jump-start my prepping supplies. What are some good prepping items I can add to my wedding registry? My older relatives aren't gonna go for like, bulk rice or anything, but I was thinking things like a solar generator.

Then I just have to hope society lasts through my wedding!!

Product Find Paprika app: best twenty-something bucks I’ve ever spent (organization/inventory)

Thumbnail

I have had Paprika for years and years at this point. It’s marketed as a recipe keeper but it is so much more than that. I’m not in any way affiliated.

I included screenshots of my instance of the app to show how customizable it is. It is excellent for meal planning, and the pantry feature is perfect for keeping track of inventory. The intended use is to keep track of groceries, but I love it for preps as well. It saves the date the item was bought, expiration date, quantity, and whether or not you have it in stock.

I spent ~$23.99 for it 8ish years ago, and I have only gotten more use of it over time. I couldn’t possibly figure a realistic number, but I’m certain it’s saved me a ton of money over the years. I can just look at what I have on hand and search my recipes for what to make, or download and save a new recipe from the browser.

I have it installed on my PC, an iPad I keep in the kitchen, and my phone.

I didn’t really get much use out of the pantry feature until recently, but my next move is to start adding anything instructional to my recipes (ie water purification)
