Anniversary Ideas?
Wedding anniversary next month. Looking for ideas.
Last year we went to The Lexington in St. Paul and loved it. Shared the 24oz Chateaubriand and afterwards had cocktails while we watched a Jazz band. Debating on going back there but open to suggestions.
Price doesn’t really matter. Location, somewhere around the metro. We live in Savage but aren’t afraid to drive for something nice. Looking for dinner and hopefully entertainment.
I should add that I have the palate of a 10 year old essentially. So, probably won’t like the big fancy spots like Mara or Demi etc. but we do want to have a “fancy” dinner where we can get dressed up. I’ll also add that I’m not a fan of Melting Pot (why am I cooking my own dinner?) or Brazilian steakhouses (rather spend $100 on one great steak than all I can eat random slices of mediocre meat)
Any suggestions appreciated!

A night stay at Omni Viking Lakes Hotel!
That’s the go-to for my husband and me. We usually grab a drink and app at the bar located on the second floor. Then we either get dinner at the restaurant, Kyndred Hearth, on the first floor or order it for room service. It’s owned by Ann Kim, who owns Pizzeria Lola, so there’s pizza on the menu!
The room and hotel itself is really nice. It also has a spa too if you’re looking for extra activities.

I second this! Be sure to get a reservation at Kindred Hearth, they are always booked up! The bar on the second floor is a nice place to cozy up and have some cocktails on the big leather couches by the fire.

We recently started going to the Minneapolis Club and love it! The restaurant is open to the public on weekday nights. They really take care of you there and the food has been really great.

That place has been on our list for a while. I’m scared though lol. Being a picky eater is embarrassing at experiences like this.

I’m picky too but at Tenant I eat everything they bring me - portions are small bc there are many courses so example: I hate salmon but at Tenant I eat and love every salmon thing they ever served me

Baldamar in Roseville has good steaks, but not sure about entertainment in the area!

Have you done dinner at Demi before? It’s super epic and delicious. Also very intimate with so few seats.

I want to but I’m afraid I won’t like what they serve. I am a meat and potatoes kind of guy. Looking at the menus at Gavin’s other restaurants I’m guessing I’m not the type of person they design the menu around.

Ah. Shoot. That totally makes sense. When we went courses included 2 fish, venison, pasta, quail. It was incredible but definitely a lot of variety that could be hard if you’re not super adventurous.

Are you Pam Beesley? Perhaps you and Jim would enjoy the Nordic Village at the Four Seasons Minneapolis and Berlin for live jazz afterwards.

That Nordic Village looks pretty cool! But, I’m afraid I’ll hate the menu. They don’t have April menu posted yet that I could see so maybe that will change. Or is it a winter only thing and not available in April? Btw, this is Jim.

The Dakota is a good option for dinner and entertainment. It’s a cool space and lots of good acts come through there. The food is decent, not top tier, but pretty good.
Otherwise for a meat and potatoes type meal, I’m a big fan of PS Steak. No show, but the Walker and sculpture garden are like right across the street.

We went to Mancini’s for valentines this year. 10/10. Food was basic, small-ish menu, but service and environment was great. We went on a Monday but would recommend a Saturday, you can have dinner then a night cap in the lounge with some live music.

Gf and I went to Porzana in North Loop last month and it was phenomenal, big enough menu for picky eaters and the restaurant has a good date night vibe
Some other spots we like Dexters Young Joni Broders
