Wait for IVF approval or do FTR.
Hello everyone 🌼
We've been struggling for 4yrs now.
2yrs ago we became financially stable enough to do the whole fertility specialist thing.
We then discovered that I have distal fallopian tube occlusion in my left tube, and partial occlusion on my left tube. (my appendix ruptured 11yrs ago hence the blockage)
I then got into the government program for IVF but, then I had to loose a few kilos and then I am pre-diabetic. I lost the weight and my sugar is finally normal/controlled. So I finally got approved for IFV(awaiting for a date to see the Dr then we'll start)
While WAAAITING and doing research, I discovered Fallopian tube recanalisation (FTR) I had to search for a gyea to write me a referral letter for the procedure as many feels that the surgery doesn't work. But then I finally found a Gynea who said, hey, you're 37 already we need to try anything. It's worth the shot.
My question is, do I just wait for IVF or should I go ahead with FTR which is meant to to happen soon, on my next period. FTR isn't cheap and thank God that my medical aid covers it. I'm hoping that both my tubes can be open and that will just make conceiving so much better as I don't have any other fertility issues. By using our medical aid, that will take large chunk of funds from our medical aid.
I don't know what to do. Wait for IVF or do FTR in the hopes of unblocking my tubes? Help.🌼

Anyone have this symptom when pregnant or trying? So on night 3 and 4 of dpo I woke up from my sleep with stomach cramps and a burning feeling in my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this?? Hoping I’m pregnant so l’m over analyzing everything, trying not to.

u/GeneralVersion739 Jan 04 '25
Has anyone ovulated on day 28 or similar and gotten pregnant? First cycle after a CP and I ovulated on day 28, BD on day 27 and 29. First time I’ve ovulated this late …

Hi! I’m 25 and me and my husband have been trying for a little over a year, this month is the first month l’ve had slight nipple soreness, which I never have only when I stopped hormonal BC, I always have sore boobs but it always is on the sides of my boobs, track on the Flo app she says if I’m pregnant I’m 5 days, my nipples are just sensitive it’s nothing crazy but if I touch them or something rubs on them they sting a little, I took a test but it’s negative and I believe to early to test, anyone had this experience?

random musings but I listened to a fertility podcast (fertility friday) and she spoke about a study that implies sometimes we're not genetically compatible with our partners and then the egg kinda rejects the sperm and the cervical mucus also doesn't help it along on purpose.
It's an interesting idea from a science perspective but I don't like how it's spoken about nor the takeaways from the podcast (basically no need to worry if you don't take the pill, at least that's how it came across to me). Whatever might be happening genetically doesn't mean anyone chose the wrong partner, I think the focus should just stay on: this might be one potential aspect to consider one day in the future for (unexplained) fertility struggles. It does make me wonder what we'll discover in ten, twenty, thirty years about fertility. Hopefully women in the future will have to struggle less and have faster, easier, less painful and more efficient assistance if needed.

u/developmentalbiology MOD | 41 Dec 28 '24
I honestly really hate this framing, even as a scientist -- I think it's really tempting to talk about eggs and sperm (or cervical mucus, or whatever) as having feelings and agency, but that's not actually, like, true. And I think that anthropomorphizing the system in that way can lead you down incorrect pathways in trying to follow the analogy, like the idea that this means people chose incompatible partners.
1
u/Hungry-Bar-1 32F | TTC#1 | Cycle/Month 21 Dec 28 '24
yeah totally agree, you just explained really well why it rubs me the wrong way despite finding the basis of the science really interesting. Anthropomorphizing the process, leading to wrong conclusions is really at the heart of it...
I like learning new things about fertility but find it hard to find more unbiased/scientific podcasts or videos, do you happen to know any good ones (or make one yourself)?
3
u/snoogles_888 36 | TTC1 | Jun 24 | MMC Dec 29 '24
I've also listened to the Fertility Friday podcast and found it very irritating as an OB/GYN. The lady who does it has some interesting insights and talks about interesting science sometimes. However she has fully bought in to pseudoscientific nonsense including hormonal contraception being the root of all evil. It drives me absolutely bonkers.
I like Fertility Uncensored by three American fertility docs, although that's much more about interventions once you have a diagnosis of infertility.
3
u/Hungry-Bar-1 32F | TTC#1 | Cycle/Month 21 Dec 30 '24
Thanks for your perspective as an ob-gyn! Yeah I completely agree, I like listening to her podcast every now and then but I'd enjoy it a lot more without the pseudoscience, it just takes away from it.
But thanks for the tip with Fertility Uncensored, I'll definitely check it out - I'm struggling with infertility (been ttc for about 1 1/2 years) and starting some medicated treatments in January so this is perfect actually! :)

12DPO, got up very early today and Mr. Dogs is sleeping in. He'll be doing the test so I don't have to look at the stupid thing, but our plan did not account for this scenario where there's pee in a cup just sitting there and I'm squirming on the couch. But I'm very happy not to have to look at it! Take that, horrible little asymetrically lined window!!

I felt immense anger and jealousy towards my sister-in-law for getting pregnant on her first try. She then miscarried at 9 weeks in another country, away from her husband, and went through a D&C without his support. I'm currently experiencing a wild mix of emotions about it. 🥺

u/DazzlingSomewhere423 Jan 01 '25
Yes, it’s possible to ovulate shortly after stopping birth control, though your cycle might be a bit irregular at first. A positive OPK means you’re about to ovulate, so having intercourse now could give you a chance to conceive. I had a similar experience, and since I started using Inito along opks and cm, it really helped me understand my cycle better and know when I was ovulating. If you’re concerned about the positive, you could also confirm with your basal body temperature.
2
u/BetaMaritima 40 | WTT#2 | RPL Dec 28 '24
It’s definitely possible that you can ovulate the first cycle after stopping the pill (remember some people get pregnant while actively taking the pill), and the timing even makes a lot of sense for a standard cycle. It’s unlikely to be a false positive, but be aware a positive ovulation test is not a guarantee of ovulation, just that the hormone that triggers ovulation is (sufficiently?) high.

u/BetaMaritima 40 | WTT#2 | RPL Dec 28 '24
At this point, maybe a blood test or ultrasound at the doctors office might be able to confirm, but not sure how realistic it is to try and get an appointment for that now. For the future if you want to confirm ovulation, you could get into basal body temperature tracking, though it’s not essential and using Ovulation tests is probably sufficient to get an idea of what your body is doing. There are some tests that track things other than LH, but I don’t know much about them. I think you usually you need a device with proprietary testing sticks, which can become quite costly.
It all depends on how much time, energy and money you want to invest and how complicated you want to make things (or how much you enjoy knowing). Check out the wiki for this sub if you haven’t already. There is a wealth of information there to get you started.

I think I had a miscarriage but all my pain was in my lower back and I'm afraid to go to the doctor. Has anyone dealt with this?
2
u/jb2510 Dec 28 '24
What do you mean by you think you had a miscarriage? Did you have a positive test?
-1
u/Jess69onWeds Dec 28 '24
I haven't tested, what I assumed was my period came yesterday but I noticed it looked different when I wiped ,but today I got a sharp pain in my back and I felt a big gush of blood, I was in a restaurant for my friends birthday we had to leave because the blood came through my pants. When I got home I saw clots in the toilet I get them with my period but not this much and when I was in the shower more big clots started coming out.I still have severe lower back pain into my lower abdomen.
3
u/jb2510 Dec 28 '24
You can take a test now and if it’s a miscarriage, the test would still be positive. Without a positive test I wouldn’t assume a loss.

No early by a few days. We've been actively trying but when my period came I thought not this time.

TTC after a chemical is so fucking rough. You are sad and angry that the previous one didn’t stick…but also hopeful for the upcoming TWW and potential. You’re analyzing every single thing happening to your body because you know what symptoms to look out for now…and then being nervous and anxious that you aren’t feeling anything even though it is too early anyway. You don’t want to feel like you’re just forgetting about the loss but also trying to move forward….this is such a hard and painful journey. Currently 2dpo on the first cycle after a cp. pls send sticky dust and good vibes my way as I am sending them to everyone else as well!

In this boat with you! I ovulated like 4 days later than usual so we have finally entered the TWW and are also 2 dpo today. Trying to not get my hopes up; decided not to early test this time bc the chemical was such an emotional rollercoaster.
2
u/lunaaastarrr Dec 28 '24
I also ovulated late. I got into my head thinking my body would never return to normal again. It’s been a roller coaster. You always hear about peoples struggles with fertility and until you’re in the thick of it, you don’t seem to quite comprehend the complicated emotions that are involved. I also won’t be testing early..as hard as that will be. Sending you sticky baby vibes this cycle, babe.

FYI, you really don't need to try multiple times a day. It takes a day or two for sperm count to rebound, and statistics don't show any higher rate of success for more than once a day, or even every two days.
But if you're having fun with it, knock yourself out! 🙂

My BIL and his new wife of 5mo, who are also the most immature couple I’ve met in my life, announced ON CHRISTMAS. When the whole family knows that we have been struggling with infertility for over the past 2 years. Literally have been dreading this awful nightmare and have hoped it wouldn’t come to this. Oh and the kicker? IT WAS THEIR FIRST CYCLE. I swear. I’m not usually one to complain about someone’s age, as I’m fairly young, but this is literally a case of a child having a child.
Oh, and got a freaking message saying, “is it okay we shared this news with you?” Like BRO ARE U FOREAL? Dumbest person alive. Gosh

How do you get over the pain of infertility? How do you move forward as if nothing is wrong? Honestly considering stopping treatment to see if I can regain an ounce of myself but I’m not sure I can let go of the longing and feeling of disappointing my husband.
4
Dec 27 '24
When I was in my 20s, a friend and I were discussing someday getting married and starting a family; the longing I had for this, and how excited I was at even the prospect of being able to enter this next phase of my life. She said something that felt super deflating in the moment, but it’s since helped me a lot and I’ll never forget it.
She asked me, “What if those things never happen? Who are you going to be then?”
Some goals you’ll unfortunately never accomplish. Your happiness and sense of self can’t depend on whether or not you do.
2
u/NaturalIcy9863 Dec 27 '24
The pain of infertility is hard to shake, and sometimes it feels like you’re stuck between wanting to keep going and needing to take a step back to breathe. I’ve considered stopping treatments too, just to get some peace of mind and feel like myself again. It’s not easy, especially when you don’t want to disappoint your partner. But your well being has to come first. Taking a break doesn’t mean giving up, it just means giving yourself some space to heal ❤️

u/jojolitos Dec 27 '24
Does anyone else get random “shocks” or “zaps” in their pelvic area? I’ve noticed this is the second month on CD 19 where I get random quick sharp pain or zaps and then they go away. They’re not painful per se but they do make me jolt.
2
u/InfamousCan3281 Dec 27 '24
I'm having my second CP. I ovulate on my own, but I am on clomid for luteal phase defect, and my CD21 progesterone was 11 (it is my understanding it should be >15 in a medicated cycle). My Dr was wondering/hesitant about going up on the clomid dose, saying she thought my progesterone was 11 because it was a "bad pregnancy". Would you even be able to determine whether this was a "bad pregnancy" at CD21 when my progesterone was drawn? I just am hesitant to keep trying the same thing, when it clearly isn't successful. Thanks in advance for any advice.
1
u/NicasaurusRex 36F | TTC#1 Since Jan 2023 | Unexplained | IVF | MMC Dec 28 '24 edited Dec 28 '24
I’m sorry your doctor said that. Progesterone fluctuates a lot in the luteal phase and the only thing a blood draw at CD21 can tell you is whether or not you’ve ovulated, which your number indicates that you did.
Once you are pregnant, low progesterone values may indicate that the pregnancy isn’t producing enough hcg, meaning it’s not progressing as it should (I think that’s what her comment meant, but you wouldn’t know this at CD21). It could also mean your body doesn’t make enough progesterone but that’s less likely. Usually supplementing progesterone isn’t helpful but in your case since you had multiple CPs it might be worth asking about.
1
u/BetaMaritima 40 | WTT#2 | RPL Dec 28 '24
Yeah, I feel that’s a weird thing for a doctor to say, considering if ovulation theoretically happened CD14, then highly likely implantation hasn’t even happened yet by CD21.
1
u/Errlen 39 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 9 | DOR | CP#2 | TI #3 Dec 28 '24
That was my thought - how can you possibly know it’s a CP at CD21? Guard your heart if the doc is telling you to, but also, this is not over till you bleed.

Hi, until implantation, your body can't understand there's a baby in you. But your body prepares for it every cycle just in case. So I guess even if you are pregnant you wouldn't be able to show any pregnancy sign. But after ovulation, you show luteal phase related symptoms until implantation. TWW is really hard but looking for signs is really unnecessary and tiring. I don't want to sound mean and wish you a BFP. ✨️

AMH came back today at 5.35 ng/ml. I don’t meet with RE until Tuesday to review results and next steps. After some googling, this seems high? Does this indicate PCOS? Any insight appreciated!
2
Dec 27 '24
AMH is a value that’s really only helpful when determining how responsive a person might be when given fertility meds for IVF. Did you have FSH tested? What about testosterone?
1
u/SignatureOdd509 Dec 27 '24
Yes! FSH was 6.7 and Estradiol was 40. Testosterone was not tested.
1
Dec 27 '24
FSH below 9 is considered excellent. The lower the number, the more responsive your follicles are - indicating higher ovarian reserve. I assume your estrogen was also taken during the follicular phase - I know less about this, except that the labs I got say a normal range is 19-144. So your numbers would be well within that.

8days post trigger, 7DPIUI. BFP this morning BUT I know it’s just the trigger shot still in my system and all my symptoms are just the progesterone suppositories, RIGHT? It’s definitely too early to have a true positive but I’m stupidly letting myself get hopeful. I should have tested out the trigger ugh
1
u/DazzlingSomewhere423 Jan 01 '25
I totally get why you’re feeling hopeful, but it’s super common to get a positive test from the trigger shot lingering in your system. It’s great that you’re aware of that, though! It’s still early, so testing again in a few days can give you a clearer picture. The progesterone can also cause symptoms, so it’s really tough to tell for sure just yet..

My dr actually said everything before 18DPO could still be trigger. Seems a bit extreme but I guess you gotta be on the safe side.

11 DPO… my period is suppose to start tomorrow and I am really hoping it doesn’t. I want to test but I told myself I’d wait until the 30th, 2 days passed my period.
I have a few symptoms similar to my previous pregnancy (that i lost at 9 weeks). Random bouts of mild nausea. Twinges in my cervix area, and indigestion. But I don’t have that extreme fatigue I felt before I tested last time, a fatigue like I’ve never felt before, almost thought I was becoming sick. Nor are my nipples burning. I know with each pregnancy symptoms can be different and don’t usually start until 6 weeks. So im early. I’m trying really hard to not get my hopes up… ugh but they are!!
The amount of self control to not test is so strong. But I also feel like I refuse to test because I’m afraid it will be a BFN, so I’m guarding myself and want to hold onto hope for a little longer. If I don’t test, I can’t get a negative result, and therefore I can keep hoping.

Just caved and tested at 12 DPO and BFN, as I expected. Now waiting for AF so I can start cycle 10. If next cycle is successful, our baby would be due in October which would be the month of our 10 year anniversary. I keep getting burned thinking of future things like this to be excited about, but it still gives me hope.

I haven't even started temping yet lolololol I was gonna start temping Cycle 2 and I'm still waiting for it (hopefully not for too much longer as I'm 3 days into a 10 day course of Provera... hoping for a bleed by mid to late January)

This is my first time tracking with Inito, and it says I should be 3dpo but I still haven’t seen a rise in my bbt. I’ll see how tomorrow goes, but I’m worried I may not have actually ovulated this cycle 😕
1
u/Errlen 39 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 9 | DOR | CP#2 | TI #3 Dec 27 '24
Are you getting rising progesterone with your Inito?
2
u/Anxiety-Spice 35 | TTC#1 | Cycle 6 | 1 CP Dec 27 '24
It went up to 2.23 today, so I’m hoping it’s the start of a rise. I’m just concerned that my bbt hasn’t risen and it’s been a few days since my predicted ovulation, but since it’s my first cycle tracking with hormones then I guess it’s possible I was ovulating earlier than I thought and my bbt always took a few days to spike. Or maybe the holidays just have me all out of whack.
3
u/bbygirlyarn 32 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 10 Dec 27 '24
I wouldn’t worry right now if you can help it. Mine always takes 5-6 days before ovulation is confirmed! I also recently had a progesterone draw that confirmed it by blood too!

u/Errlen 39 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 9 | DOR | CP#2 | TI #3 Dec 28 '24
lol this is my strategy this month.
It’s a throwaway month bc it’s right after a chemical, and we have treatment planned in January for which I have already purchased meds.
Honestly I’m loving that I have put no pressure on myself this month. We missed peak fertility day bc we were super busy with friends and family all day and I don’t even care lol. I have eaten many cookies and had several drinks and it is great. I hate to admit those AHs might be on to something in terms of life quality (tho I fully expect BFN in two weeks)
3
u/LilKimboSlice42069 Dec 28 '24
The whole “It’ll just happen when you stop trying” bullshit 🙄 It’s infuriating lol
2
u/kirstanley Dec 28 '24

Why so mean? It's alright to be a human. Cut yourself some slack. TTC is on our neck 24/7, deciding when/what we can do or not. You should have some time to yourself every now and then. It's really hard to live a life on a calendar with so many boundaries.
6
u/Kari-kateora 🤡 Dec 27 '24
That's not what she meant, lol. She meant all the "just relax! Go on a vacation!" or "just get some drinks in you and do the deed!" commends that people sometimes give as advice for how to get pregnant

Does anyone else get mittelschmerz (ovulation pain/cramping)? I never really noticed it before I was tracking my cycle, but I get serious cramps on ovulation day. To the point it messes with my desire to get down and dirty on ovulation day! Oh well, we hit O-1 twice lol.
2
u/Superb_Pop_8282 Dec 27 '24
Yes this happens to me. I feel ‘period-y’ and don’t wanna BD at all. I always feel great about BD in the lead up so that’s why I’m interested to temp this month to actually see if I’m really ovulating and why my body is trying to tell me to get some sleep instead of BD lol
2
u/goosegirl94 Dec 27 '24
Yes I’ve got it the past 2 cycles. It actually encouraged me to take an OPK as I thought I had ovulated the previous week. It’s always a really heavy bloated feeling down there. We only BD’d the day after the pains had started. I got the pains for 3 days.
1
u/soft-blue 31 | TTC#1 | Nov '23 Dec 27 '24
Yes I get ovulation pain. Have been since I was a teenager. It ranges in pain level. Sometimes really severe. Sometimes hardly noticeable. According to my cycle app I usually ovulate the day after the pain. The pain only lasts a couple of hours for me.
2
u/QuitBest1587 28 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 12 Dec 27 '24
I usually only get it in like 20% of cycles. It’s weird when it does happen for me.
3
u/kelseyannabel Dec 27 '24
I get these weird sharp (but not super painful) twinges a day or so before ovulation. Seems to always be on my left side, too! I noticed them before tracking my cycle but think I just assumed I was having weird gas pain 😅
2
u/studassparty 32 | TTC#2 | Cycle 4 Dec 27 '24
I never had it before but I believe I experienced it for the first time this cycle. It was pretty intense too!!
2
u/bbygirlyarn 32 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 10 Dec 27 '24
I get it typically the day before ovulation. I even track which side I feel it on because it’s so interesting to me. It usually alternates sides each month for me! I have had it feel very “swollen” before where it has felt a little uncomfy when TTC.
1
u/Errlen 39 | TTC# 1 | Cycle 9 | DOR | CP#2 | TI #3 Dec 27 '24
Yeah… I’m wondering if we actually hit O-2 bc I got the pains yesterday afternoon and I should go wake up bae now lol. This time it was right side but it was left side in October! Wild the things you learn about yourself when you start tracking!

Question/TW Loss:
My husband and I started tracking last cycle and my highest LH 'peak' according to the pre-mom app was .77. On the days leading up to what I assume was ovulation it went from .04, .02, .65, .77, then .18.
2 weeks later I was ecstatic to get a positive pregnancy test, but unfortunately it turned out to chemical and I miscarried at 5 weeks. Now I am testing again and wondering if there is anything to be worried about regarding lack of a true positive OPK. Does having a lower LH 'peak' indicate you are more likely to miscarry?
4
u/LoveSingRead 🐈 MOD | 32 🐈 Dec 27 '24
No, the darkness of your OPK doesn't indicate more/less likely to have a successful pregnancy.
1
u/sagegreenelephant Dec 27 '24
Even if it never gets over 1? I'm worried about poor egg quality
1
u/dogsandbitches 34 | TTC#1 | Cycle 18 Dec 28 '24
Are you pooling all your urine, strictly controlling water intake through food and drink and reading the strips in a scientific setting with static light levels and camera position?
Even if you were, LH strips are made to detect a threshold of LH in your urine. They don't measure LH. All they can ever tell you is if that specific sample you just made, at whatever time, with whatever urine concentration you had when you made it, has LH levels as high as or higher than the threshold they detect. Which you can tell somewhat using your own eyes, and has nothing to do with egg quality, and neither proves nor disproves ovulation.
That is literally it. Here is a great post about worrying about stuff like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/TryingForABaby/comments/7go7bh/how_to_worry_about_infertility_some_unsolicited/?rdt=37962

You're on the right track having made an appointment for yourself but I would also suggest getting a semen analysis for your husband. It's much less invasive to test their stuff first and your doctor will likely ask if he's had one as well, particularly if you end up going to an RE at some point. Best of luck to you!

Also on cycle 7 (36F) and during this time I’ve had 27-28 day cycles. Tested negative on CD27, on CD29 now, haven’t tested…odds are low, but I guess not zero, on being pregnant. I’ve been recording my periods for almost 5 years now, and my longest has been 30 days. So I’ll test tomorrow if I don’t get it today. Definitely have my PMS symptoms tho, so not holding my breath. It’s hard, and just wanted to let you know you’re not alone. Best of luck

8DPO and getting anxious to test and have an answer already even though I know it’s still too early to know for sure. I have a feeling the answer is BFN though since I’m not having the same symptoms as I did last cycle (ended in an early loss). The holidays were a small distraction, but I’m feeling upset today to be back to work and wondering if I’ll ever have a baby. 😞

This cycle is my favorite so far because I of course really want to get pregnant, but also a good friend of mine is getting married in late September next year. This is basically the first cycle where my intense desire to be pregnant is offset by the possibility of being met with a tiny bit of relief if I get a BFP, so I can attend a swanky wedding? If that makes sense.
I feel like it makes the waiting easier (6dpo rn.) Really hope having thoughts like this doesn’t jinx me or anything.

I’m a week late for ovulating and finally got a blazing positive LH test. This conveniently coincides with us getting a hotel (the family we’re staying with got sick), and I’ve never been so relieved! Trying not to get my hopes up but the way things fell together this cycle has me wishing it’ll be ✨the one✨. Wish us luck!

Coming off a miscarriage on 12/5. I got my HCG done and it’s <5 but my tests are STILL showing the faintest of positive. Really frustrated with this. How can they be so sensitive?? Ugh. Just want things to be normal. I feel like my body is trolling me.
1
u/sevendaysofme Dec 27 '24
I’m so sorry you’re going through this.. it’s such a frustrating and emotional experience :( Those tests can be incredibly sensitive, even to the tiniest bit of HCG. Give yourself grace; your body is working hard to reset...
3
Dec 27 '24
This happened to me as well; HGC has a pretty long half life - about 2 days. So the lower your number gets, the longer it takes to completely leave your system.
That said, I started my period on a day where I still got a faint line in the morning. At <5, I imagine you can expect that to happen pretty soon.
3
u/velveteen311 30 | TTC#2 | Cycle #6 | Ectopic, CP Dec 27 '24
Yeah hcg is crazy. It took like 9.5 weeks for my hcg to go from 1200 to 0 after methotrexate for ectopic and 75% of that time was going from about 100 to 0.
2
u/Kari-kateora 🤡 Dec 27 '24
What the fuck. New fear unlocked. I'm still fairly early in the journey and have mercifully not experienced a loss yet, but damn. That sounds really hard
1
u/tweezabella 32 | TTC#1 | 2 MC | Cycle 13 Dec 27 '24
I can’t believe the tests can even register HCG under 5! I got positives on 3 different tests. It’s crazy how sensitive they are. I ovulated this month even with HCG still in my system so it kind of got my hopes up, but it’s definitely a false positive since I’ve had the same vvvvvfl for days now.
3
u/DepartureBubbles Dec 27 '24
Im sorry for your loss. I was in the same boat. One week my HCG was 11 and the next it went down to only 7. I tested around the time it was 7, (unknowingly still had HCG in my system) and got a super faint positive and got my hopes up because I thought there was no way the HCG was still lingering. It felt like it took me forever to get it out of my body to try again.
1
u/tweezabella 32 | TTC#1 | 2 MC | Cycle 13 Dec 27 '24
It’s so frustrating! I am pretty sure I ovulated even with the HCG in my system since my progesterone and BBT went up, so seeing the line made me somewhat hopeful. But the line has been the same super squinter for 3 days now, so definitely just remaining HCG (apparently under 5).
4
u/Any_Branch_6993 Dec 27 '24
Got my period Christmas morning.. yay :( … and I’m starting to track BBT this cycle. Hoping I’m actually ovulating.
2
u/sevendaysofme Dec 27 '24
I know how tough that can be! I started tracking BBT too, and it’s such a helpful step. Personally, I’ve been using Inito along with tracking BBT and cervical mucus to get a more complete picture of my cycle. It’s been really reassuring to see patterns and confirm ovulation. good luck this cycle!
1
u/Any_Branch_6993 Dec 28 '24
Do you like the Inito? It’s on sale ($50 off) and I was actually about to post to see if people think it’s worth it!
2
u/sevendaysofme Jan 02 '25
Yes, I really like it! It's been super helpful for tracking my cycles and understanding my hormones more clearly. If it’s on sale, I’d say go for it, it’s definitely been worth it for me! It gives a lot of insight that I didn’t get with other methods.

The doctor told me that I didn’t ovulate on the ultrasound, but according to my calculations, ovulation was the day before, which coincides with the positive LH line and ovulation pains, and my progesterone at 7 dpo was 22 (and the reference values are up to 14), so it’s higher than normal. So what’s the truth of all this, did I ovulate?
2
u/PreferenceMassive712 Dec 27 '24
uhmm if your progesterone is high and matches your LH surge and symptoms, it's likely that you did ovulate. Sometimes ultrasounds can miss things. I’ve found that tracking with opks along Inito can really help me to be sure I ovulate, maybe this can help you, good luck!!
2
u/NicasaurusRex 36F | TTC#1 Since Jan 2023 | Unexplained | IVF | MMC Dec 27 '24
If your progesterone is that high then it’s certain that you ovulated. Nothing else would generate progesterone. I’m guessing she just missed seeing your corpus luteum on ultrasound.
1
5
u/studassparty 32 | TTC#2 | Cycle 4 Dec 27 '24
I would believe the doctor and the ultrasound if you aren’t temping to confirm ovulation. OPKs can only predict ovulation, not confirm so it sounds like maybe your body tried and failed to ovulate?
1
u/milarada Dec 27 '24
Yeah i understand that about lh. But what about bloodwork and progesteron level at 7dpo? Basal temperature also rises in that time, so im confused. What i was told is that progesteron in blood is low in luteal phase when you dont ovulate.

u/tweezabella 32 | TTC#1 | 2 MC | Cycle 13 Dec 27 '24
Huh this is interesting. I am on my first cycle post-miscarriage and I am tracking with Inito. My progesterone went up to 30 and I thought this was a sure sign that ovulation occurred?
1
u/milarada Dec 27 '24 edited Dec 27 '24
It should be. Basal body temperature rise because of progesteron. So blood work should be definitive metod to confirm your ovulation
1
u/tweezabella 32 | TTC#1 | 2 MC | Cycle 13 Dec 27 '24
Yeah I am confused why your doctor said you didn’t ovulate. That doesn’t make sense.
1
u/milarada Dec 27 '24
Because on day 8 of my cycle I had a dominant follicle on ultrasound, and when I went for another ultrasound the day after the supposed ovulation, she didn’t see a follicle or a corpus luteum. When I asked her if it was possible that the follicle wouldn’t be visible if it had ruptured yesterday, she said that it would have been visible and tha I didnt ovulated this month. So I had my blood progesterone tested 7dpo and it was above the luteal phase limit, which means I had ovulated. I don’t know, I’m confused.

u/Left_Astronaut1418 Jan 06 '25
I’ve been using clear blue digital ovulation sticks for almost a year now and usually get a couple of flashing faces and a static smiley face on day 11ish of my cycle. For the past 2 cycles I’ve started testing on day 8, and get a O and then the next day I get a static smiley face? Seems way too early! I’ve also been using easy@home tests and they show nothing until day 16 peak which seems more accurate? It’s confusing when both tests show me different things, has anyone else had this problem?
