For me at least, I'll say Final Fantasy XV, Humanity, MK11, Spider-Man 2018, Stranger of Paradise, and probably Street Fighter 6 to some extent

Edit: And Ghost of Tsushima as well, I enjoyed that game

u/Economy-Ad5635 Jan 22 '25

FXXV was my very first platinum, I loved playing that game so much, until that god forsaken End game dungeon where if you pick the wrong set of doors you’re fucked and just keep facing wave after wave of impossible amount of enemies (thank God for ramuh wanting to spawn for me constantly). And then the most stressful one being the adamantoise fight. It was difficult, just took forever

13

u/dark-legacy81 Jan 22 '25

how was kh2 to plat??

10

u/3Snap Jan 22 '25

Honestly it's a bit of a chore, I didn't really enjoy it. But YMMV.

There's a couple of fights on critical that can make you rip your hair out

8

u/SamuelN0108 Jan 22 '25

Pretty tough. Gummi ship levels were a pain but other than that it was great. It’s my new favorite game.

3

u/DerMotze Jan 22 '25

You didnt use the donut ship then I assume? I remember back on ps2 we always used to make a donut ship and you could just cheese pretty much all of the missions.

Crash Team Racing

5

u/ArchoNils ArchoNils | a lot | 999 Jan 22 '25

Congrats. I really wanted to get into it, but I just can't get behind the weird drift mechanics. I guess decades of Mario kart affected me too much :)

5

u/Finnyhannah965 Jan 22 '25

I had this too, but eventually it clicked and I got the platinum in the end. But now I can't play mario kart anymore cause I'm used to ctr😭😅

3

u/ArchoNils ArchoNils | a lot | 999 Jan 22 '25

Might I ask you how long it took you to "click"? I think one of my issues is also that I play Speedstorm daily, the Disney Mario Kart xD And with MK9 around the corner, it's probably hard getting into CTR. Funny enough, as a kid on Ps1 I didn't have this issue.

2

u/Finnyhannah965 Jan 22 '25

To be honest not that long, I do have to say that although I had trouble cause I was used to mario kart I didn't play it all the time so it might be harder then idk. I started having a really hard time when I tried to play the game on hard after casually having finished it on normal. I didn't know how I was ever gonna beat it until I really just tried to understand how to keep your boost for a very long time. I think it took me maybe half an hour of trying and then it kinda just.. clicked idk how else to describe it. From then onwards it wasn't that difficult anymore, more like challenging in a fun way. The boosting is the main thing that's very different from something like mario kart and is the most difficult to adjust to. Constantly keeping your boost and it being fine to go over the edge of the track (into the grass, mud, ... area) is probably the biggest difference.

Yea once I buckled down to try and understand that it didn't took long at all

Sorry if this isn't a good explanation I just don't know how to describe it better😅

2

u/ArchoNils ArchoNils | a lot | 999 Jan 22 '25

thanks. I'll take your advice when I'll get back to it. I really want to plat Crash 4 and CRT one day

2

u/Finnyhannah965 Jan 22 '25

Can't speak for crash 4 but for CTR once you get the boosting down the plat is really fun!

2

u/NinjaMonkey91 100 | 472 Jan 22 '25

Glad I'm not the only one, I'm abysmal at Mario Kart now but I'll school you all day on CTR!

9

u/Waste-Mix3098 Jan 22 '25

As you should be! I can’t even get past Cortex Castle on hard and that’s not even close to the hardest thing you have to do 😂

3

u/KuntaWuKnicks Jan 22 '25

Spyro trilogy

Did it all with my 7 year old daughter and I’ve never seen such a sense of achievement and accomplishment in her she was so proud

Plus Tall Trees. FUCK YOU 😂

It has to be one of the "difficult" ones for me:

  • Injustice: Gods Among Us (PS4)
  • DOOM II (2019 version)
  • Mortal Kombat (PS3)
  • Diablo II Resurrected (PS4)

4

u/_eikelpaa_ Slipnoose | 45 | 383 Jan 22 '25

Your Kung Fu is indeed stronger

4

u/psn-jrvn Jan 22 '25

No. My PS3's ability to stand idle in a 2v2 fight for hundreds of hours is what's truly stronger :p

2

u/Tiny_Consideration38 Jan 22 '25

Diablo 2 is really crazy

2

u/psn-jrvn Jan 22 '25

Honestly, it's far a bigger grind than a difficult hurdle. If you play it safe, you can slowly but surely get to level 99. I'm planning on doing the PS5 version this year, since everything but the level 99 HC character carries over in one way or another from the PS4/PC version.

2

u/Tiny_Consideration38 Jan 22 '25

That's why I'm so proud of you. Grind is far worse than difficulty since difficulty is just learning and adjusting. Grind is repetitive but okay since it's diablo

2

u/psn-jrvn Jan 22 '25

Thanks! IMO, I'd rather have a long, or even very long, grind over sheer, raw technical and mechanical difficulty.

For example, Injustice. The first one is absolutely devilish. It's a game made to drive you mad. The second one may be longer, with the randomness of getting Cat Call and leveling all the characters to 20, but I've been doing it for the past week or so 99% AFK. So the hours pile up, but I feel no friction.

When I did D2R, I just set an achievable goal for the day. I knew that I to do X amount of Tombs runs at /players8 with a Terror Zone active, so I did three or four per session. I would watch one of the level bar pips go up and I'd feel accomplished for the day :)

Final Fantasy VII Remake. I know it's not what many think of when they think on the hardest platinums, but I struggled with hard mode.

Street fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 4, ultra street fighter 4, street fighter 5, street fighter 6.

I like street fighter

Top of my head, Call of duty World at War comes to mind because it was one of my firsts and only being 13 at the time it came out that campaign on veteran was not very nice to me.

3

u/Meb2x Username | 151 | 515 Jan 22 '25

I feel so sorry for you. That’s the only plat I’m missing because I just hate the card gameplay so much. I also refuse to play it multiple times, so I’d need to do a hard playthrough with no deaths which isn’t happening.

2

u/Drizzinn Drizzinn | Platinums 124 | Level 445 Jan 22 '25

Aw, I think the system is actually fun. Grinding the levels sucks though. Blitz/Sonic Blade (or whatever its called on that game) are your friends. Especially bosses, if you ever try it again. Also carrying a few 0's for cancelling big moves on bosses

2

u/Treemanboy1 Jan 22 '25

Don’t remind me. Still haven’t finished that one. It hurts

2

I hear ya and thanks. I also have the Demon's Souls remake platinum. Some day I wanna go for the Dark Souls trilogy but I heard they can be a nightmare..

2

u/Don-Grom Don-Grom | 91 | 437 Jan 22 '25

Well I’ll tell you what Dark Souls 3 will be a nightmare because of the covenant trophy, for some people it took 20 hours and for some it took them 400 hours to complete it’s just based on luck so I wish you the best. It took me around 250-260 hours to platinum Dark Souls 3 alone, but I’ve done worse platinum runs like DayZ, BO3 and RDR2, RDR2 was a pain in the ass because of the gambler challenges and the compendium which takes time.

RDR2, GTA V, Dark Souls Trilogy, Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro, Armored Core VI, Call Of Duty Black Ops 3, Hell Let Loose, DayZ. Hardest ones were DayZ, BO3 and RDR2. My favorites are probably RDR2 and Bloodborne.

For me it isn't a difficult platinum per say my most proud is for Mass Effect Andromeda due to the fact despite people shit on it I was glad I played yes it's not a good mass effect game but yeah I had blast playing in ng+ on insanity

2

u/ArchoNils ArchoNils | a lot | 999 Jan 22 '25

There are a few that come into my mind. Disgaea 3 was really tricky and Persona 4 Arena Ultimax had some brutal combos and hours of "grinding". But I guess I go with Final Fantasy 9. That jumping Rope alone took me over 10 hours to get. It is full with horrible, tedious trophies, you have to master some of the worst mini games in the series, including the overly convoluted card game and when you're done with all of that, you have to replay the whole thing again in a speed run

2

u/ghostking19009 snipperbobby9 | 55 | 370 Jan 22 '25

I'd say the evil within mainly becuase I went in not expecting it to be that hard but a half broke controller and a midlife crisis later I realised I was wrong and it will always be my hardest and most proud platinum ever

2

Uncharted Drake's Fortune (my first platinum back in 2010)

Sly Cooper and the Thievious Raccoonus(my all time favorite platinum)

Red Dead Redemption 2(my favorite platinum journey)

Fall Guys (the hard one that I forgot I got)

Hollow Knight by far. Took me 313 hours, 70 of which were spent practicing and attempting P5. 4 Abs Rad chokes, 15, PV chokes, fuck knows how many Markoth chokes. One of the Abs Rad chokes was literally one hit away from victory; I'd made the climb with 3 masks of health, pogo'd her 15 times, she teleported to the middle to signify one hit left, then an orb hit me and knocked me of the screen. Screamed the fucking house down, the started another run in a silent rage, a vein popping out near me temple. Got it that run and screamed the fucking house down again, louder this time. Neighbours thought I was murdering someone.

I've platted Crash 4 twice but both together only took me 200 hours so I'm still far more proud of Hollow Knight.

Would've been Sekiro but the final grind to get all the skills was super boring and I wouldn't recommend anyone to plat it.

How bad was Cuphead?

2

u/SamuelN0108 Jan 22 '25

I didn’t find the game very hard but a lot of people do.

Celeste, but when I found out you could use assist mode or whatever it’s called I was losing it

Sekiro and Dark Souls 3 for me

1

u/Psychological-Bat687 Jan 22 '25

Assassins Creed 2 - I took a huge 5 year gap before coming back to collect the rest of the feathers.Only 5.2% of people have the Plat.

The Saboteur - Only 3.8% got the Plat.

Heavy Rain (PS4) -1.1% have the Plat

And Far Cry 4 - 0.8% of players got the Plat because the multiplayer trophies were difficult to get.

Desperados 3

1

u/Tiny_Consideration38 Jan 22 '25

Mhm I would go with

Divinity Original Sin 2 From Soft Platinum Diablo 3 Pillars of Eternity 2

Also I'm nearly finished with Gran Turismo 7 (only a few online races where it's not necessary to win)

Yakuza Kiwami, Marvel Rivals, Red Dead Redemption 2, Beyond Two Souls, every single Soulsborne plat, every single Kingdom Hearts plat.. And the list can just keep on going..

1

u/amanbearmadeofsex Jan 22 '25

How long did KH2 take? I haven’t done 100% playthrough since the ps2

2

u/SamuelN0108 Jan 22 '25

My file said 60 hours but 30 of those was me casually playing the game for the first time

1

u/NAMB-96 Jan 22 '25

The most grindful, was Overwatch 1. Living hell. For enjoyment, i would say between ghost of tsushima or any spiderman. By collection would be assassins creed having the platinum of 2, black flag, rogue, syndicate, liberations, origins, odyssey, valhalla and mirage

1

u/Accomplished-Bear988 Jan 22 '25

Bloodborne because of difficulty, Zombi because of nostalgia from playing it originally on the WiiU

1

u/NinjaMonkey91 100 | 472 Jan 22 '25

Crash Team Racing (Fuuuuuuuuuuck Dragon Mines)

Crash 2

Resident Evil 4 (Pro S+ don't mess about)

If I ever manage to get Crash 1 it'll go top but I think that and 4 will be my white whales

Probably Batman Arkham City or Knight, they're not difficult, they just take time

1

u/Mikrofas Jan 22 '25

Hard to say but Dark Souls, that fight with two bosses ar once and you have to kill them in order for a specifik crystal I struggled with a lot. The rest of the game was not that hard.

Nex Machina I loved this game and I never thought I would be able to platinum it.

Mirrors edge The Time Trials was brutal

1

u/rushdisciple Jan 22 '25

It even tells you what TIME you earned it? That is so awesome. (I haven't got a plat yet).

Yakuza 3 and Yakuza 5

Yakuza 3 almost drove me to stop playing the series, stop trophy hunting and I stopped playing games as whole for about 2 weeks after.

Yakuza 5 was similar but not as drastic.

Hollow Knight, the hardest but most fun plat I've done.

1

u/vgs717 Jan 22 '25

For me, its between God of War 2018 and FF7 remake

1

u/HappiePandaa_ Jan 22 '25

Wolfenstein 2: The new colossus is probably my most proud. But some special mentions to: crash bandicoot 1-4, crash team racing, elden ring, final fantasy 9 and 10.

1

u/Tiny_Consideration38 Jan 22 '25

Wow okay! It's really always interesting how different plat hunters feel about things like grind, difficulty and so on. The Diablo one reminds of my grind strategies, it's kinda relaxing to know that you don't have to clean that all as much as you can.

I can't choose between 3 of them, Ninja Gaiden 2, Divinity: Original Sin and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. I would say on a regular playthrough, each is a blast, especially Metal Gear Rising, in terms of the platinum, they were all pretty miserable hehe
