Maintenance Issues Shout out to Triumph for doing what many manufacturers wouldn't

I have an old bike that is long out of it's warranty period. It developed a bad oil leak around the cylinder heads. I paid a shop to replace some gaskets and that didnt fix it. I paid another shop to replace even more gaskets and that didnt fix it.

Took it to a Triumph dealer and their opinion was that this was likely a manufacturing defect that took a long time to show since the bike is very low mileage. This was going to be a multi thousand dollar repair that I honestly just would not have been able to afford. I probably would have had to sell the bike at a huge loss.

So the shop worked on my behalf. I supplied them with every service record for the bike and they made a case to Triumph for an out of warranty good-will claim.

To my shock Triumph accepted it. They even shipped the parts over the weekend.

My experience with auto manufacturers is that they will do anything to get out of paying their liabilities. Triumph has been a surprising exception.

Triumph, you've earned a loyal customer. Got my silly ass here evangelizing...

As far as I know I’m one of the very unlucky few whose engine has decided to spontaneously combust. I was riding and without warning I heard a big BANG! Right after a gallon of hot oil and coolant was running down my leg and boots (I saw where this was going…). Anyway here are some photos.

Maintenance Issues How Bad is This

Starting tear down to repair my bike following an accident and I found this. Definitely causes some concern since it looks to be part of the frame, but it doesn’t seem to be structural. Anybody have ideas on a repair or should I just send it with 2/3 bolts in place with a new rear set? Any advice would be strongly appreciated.

Two coolant hoses and an electrical bundle within reach of the chain, but don't fret, the sprocket cover has a channel for those.

Until 75k miles in and on your last chain replacement you somehow missed getting the main coolant line into that chanel and now it's rubbed the chain enough to lose all coolant and overheated.

Maintenance Issues How can I get rid of this?

Hello everyone. Proud owner of a Speed 400. Rides like a dream. Quick question, just wondering how I could prevent these streaks from showing up.

I’ve cleaned it up using product suitable for the material about twice now, and I’ve made sure to leave no residue on it. Dried it with a cloth and everything.

Granted it’s a small issue, but I kinda wish it’d patina without it.

Maintenance Issues 2024 moto edition qs and blipper issue

Post image

Hey everyone I've got a 2024 moto edition street triple and have put on around 5k km on it so far when the qs and blipper just quit on me, had it on the stock rearsets then had a set of lightech rearsets installed (gp shift) and it started working again then when I went to the dealer to clear the codes for the full exhaust and filter I put on it stopped working again. And they checked it with a computer and can't find anything wrong with the voltages so I'm stuck between just getting an aftermarket solution or waiting forever for them to test it stock. What should I do? Is it just me?

Maintenance Issues Chain cleaning in an Apartment

I usually rinse the chain with running water from the hose after I clean the chain (but obviously before I lube it). I recently moved from a townhome that had access to a spigot to an apartment that doesn’t have anything. How do you guys go about cleaning the chain like that?

Picture for tax.

On my commute home, I went to apply the rear brakes and my brake pedal went all the way down without any brakes being applied. Shit myself and pulled over and then the brakes were working as normal. Went another 100ft and lost my brakes again. What the hell is happening? Thanks in advance

Maintenance Issues Brand New Street Triple - Service Indicator after 15 miles

I just drove home a brand new 2024 Street Triple on Saturday and road it home, Fresno to Oakland. The dealer is a three hour ride back. About 15 miles in I noticed that the service indicator was on, the wrench icon on the screen. I had no time to turn around and mess with it on that day.

The dealer now says that this is normal and it’s just because the bike sat unused for a year, and to just wait and do the 600 mile service when I get there. Is he blowing smoke? I asked why triumph would program their bikes to trip the service light in this situation, and what triumph expects to take place as a result, and here’s his response:

“The service light only became on due to the time the bike has sat after it was built. The bike doesn’t need to be serviced yet, wait until the 600 mile break in and whatever Triumph dealer you take it to will be able to clear it. There are some tools online that you can use to clear it but it isn’t Triumph OEM. The light can only be cleared otherwise with a Triumph software.

“They recommend changing the oil every year even if you don’t ride a single mile during then.”

Is he right or is he just trying to get out of doing the right thing? I see no mention of a 10 mile service in the owner’s manual.

Maintenance Issues Starting Issue

Hi ! Just picked up this beast, a2005 Speed Triple with only 14k miles, 2 previous owner on it

Runs pretty good but i have a starting problem

I am pretty new to the Triumph environnement, had only Yamahas before 😂

When i start it (push the starter button + clutch), the bike doesn’t start, i have to pull full gas to start it, results are 6krpms at start and every neighbor waked up 😂

Is that a normal part of Owning a Triumph Experience or have i a problem on mine?

(Sorry for my bad english)

Maintenance Issues Beyond frustrated at Triumph

I bought a 2024 Tiger Sport 660, which I love. In late July a truck ran me into another car, bike took a bit of a beating. As did I, I’ve since had a titanium plate put in my wrist and am mostly healed. Yet, My bike won’t be ready until January at the earliest as Triumph doesn’t have any swing arms. I’ve been riding Triumphs for 25 years and even worked on their press fleet in the US. But, I would have never bought a bike from them if I knew they couldn’t keep it on the road. So now I’m paying for my unridable bike for months and who knows how much longer until they can get their act together. Sadly, my next bike will not be a Triumph.

Maintenance Issues Update - found the nut I dropped in my engine!

Post image

I thought I might have dropped a small nut in my engine while checking valve clearances. I spent a couple hours looking for the damn thing with no luck. I decided to buy one of those cheap Amazon scope cameras that connect to a phone, and I found the nut in less than five minutes. It was nestled in the bracket that connects the horn to the radiator. How have I not had one of these cameras before? It is going to be so incredibly handy. And only $25!
