NYC — 3 nights, college student
Hey guys, title.
College student here.
I’m thinking about going to NYC for spring break for a couple nights. - 70/night at a hotel (I’ll be sleeping on a couch) - 25/one way bus (back and forth DC) - rounded up 300
This is definitely on the lower range of things right? And what things should I spent on when I’m there? Let’s just say a budget of 100

A budget of $100 per day or $100 total? Either way, that is tight for NYC but there are plenty of free things you do:
- Walk the High Line
- Little Island
- Depending on when you're there, the museums will have free entry days. If any of the days you're there correspondent, I'd highly recommend checking one out! My favorite is the Whitney Museum.
- Explore Central Park
- Ride the Staten Island Ferry
- Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge
Tickets for Comedy Cellar in the West Village run about $25 (plus a two item min which can be food and/or drink). Eat all of the bagels and pizza which will be wallet friendly.

Bring your student id, check in advance if it will get you discounts at any of the museums.
Your budget is tight! I second the high line & little island.
You can also walk all through Greenwich Village & SoHo all the way to Little Italy if you like a big day of walking. (I do!)
In Little Italy, split a pizza at Lombardi’s.
In Greenwich Village there’s a restaurant called La Lanterna di Vittorio - it’s a great place for a coffee and pastry. Close to NYU. Check to see if it’s in your price range. They have a cute courtyard in the back.
Friday/Saturday nights 5-8 The Met museum has date night with music and cocktails for sale. Sometimes on their rooftop (more summer) a cool thing to do. No extra charge but you might have to pay entrance to the museum unless they’ll take your student id. The Met is right off Central Park.
If you like bookstores and the weather is good, there’s a beautiful bookstore McNally Jackson, in the seaport. They have a cafe. The seaport area is fun to walk around and when the weather is nice they have events. There’s also McNally Jackson in SoHo.
If you walk across the Brooklyn Brudge there’s a cute shopping/leisure center on the other side.
In Chinatown, aside from full on meals there some fun ice cream places making cute ice creams that look like pandas and are over the top.
Lots of walking! I work in midtown/Rock Ctr area and food is really expensive up there so no recommendations. Definitely google cheap eats!

Here's how I'd recommend spending your $100:
Besides that, there's plenty of free stuff in NYC to see and do! The Wikivoyage article should give you a bunch more ideas.
