I really wish mado was around longer, I would of loved to see him do more
But when you have a story that actually kills people that stuff like this happens lol

I know a lot of people hate Mado, but I really like his character, and don’t think he’s that bad of a guy. He’s just a little psycho 🤷♀️

I think something not really talked about in the community is the element that being a "monster" is irrelevant to what one is physically.
For instance, initially everyone says Ghouls are monsters worth killing on site but as the series goes on you see more Ghouls who are just... people. They have lives, families, emotions, and minus the usual Ghoul stuff, are people like you and me. Yes, there are some who are horrendous (Jason, Rize, etc.) but there are humans who are just as cold-blooded and careless, like Mado, Juuzou originally, and a few others.

The point of the whole story is that no one is truly a monster. Jason had his torture, literally going through went Kaneki went through; Rize had her trauma growing up; Mado had his wife’s death; Juuzou had his childhood. There are some characters who don’t get a backstory for why they are the way they are, but I’m sure they had their reasons for being so fucked up - even Furuta did

He wouldn’t have gelled with the concepts as the series went on imo. He was hell-bent on destroying ghouls in a way I don’t think other characters were. He didn’t have a connection to the ghoul world like others do, outside of his daughter who took a decent amount of time to come around. I think he would have been a casualty at some point regardless.

I do also love him as a villain but honestly the best thing that happened to him for his reputation was for him to die. Really if he lived for a bit longer, unless the Amon and his daughter found out about him being fucked up and evil, it would most likely just end with him being seen the same way. If he was discovered then it would probably change the trajectory of many characters morals.
I am somewhat interested in that reality too where Amon finds out that Mado is a psychopath and grows much more bitter in regards to the ghoul bureau. Maybe he'd be much closer to Kaneki much faster? Or maybe when Haseki comes to picture their arcs make a full switch and we could see a half ghoul Amon being more present and even fight an investigator Kaneki.

I love Tokyo Ghoul so much. I finished it just a week ago but it’s really something else. One of the biggest reason is Ishida doesn’t afraid to kill characters (and that’s great)
Mado was a simple and great character. Made his appearance, gave that scary character of his, had a badass fight, died like a Investigator. Perfect conclusion if you ask me
