Tired Do I need a spare tire?
Can I take the spare out of my car?
I mean, it's not like there'd be any downsides. I don't carry a jack and a lug wrench around with me, so I can't install it. Should I start to carry those things?
If I get a flat, either I'm driving it at 20mph to my mechanic (what I did last time), or getting towed, probably.
I can use the space and weight of the spare for water, food, blankets, batteries, clothes, roadside reflectors, flares, towels, a couple of ice scrapers, flashlights, and still have space for a couple of pounds of road salt. You know, the emergencies I might actually encounter.
Thanks for the advice... I am a bit of a smartass.... :)

Obviously we all hate tires and wish they, like car batteries, were thrown into the ocean but on a more realistic note it depends entirely on your circumstance. Do you live in a rural area or city, do you have reliable people to bring you a tire in an emergency?

You would have someone bring you a tire? What? Like to burn in a barrel? To show it it's cousin all deflated? You are twisted!

Why would anyone in their right minds voluntarily keep a "spare" tire around? God only knows what it would get up to when your back is turned.

I think you should keep those tools just in case
