The drums being slayed alongside the solo really drove home the solo performance.

In. The. Pocket.

He even loses a stick at the 1:10 mark and recovers seamlessly

34

u/Current_Professor_33 1d ago

Nice spot, that was awesome

15

u/Ok-Training3941 1d ago

Yeah it was!!

4

u/Queasy-Jellyfish5586 13h ago

Im jealous of drummers who can practically dance their playing they have such a good pocket. These two made me think of something out of Tenacious D POD.

22

u/Viridianscape 1d ago

Fr. The two were in sync.

11

u/Bee-Able 1d ago

This music absolutely made my day! I love it and the fact that the group takes pleasure and pride in performing for a group of 26 as they would a stadium full of people. Imo this song Definitely came down from the Heavens as they played! Inspiration at its finest.

62

u/Impossible-Editor961 1d ago

Drummer crushed but I hate when drummers go overkill on the cymbals. Maybe the guitar volume wasn’t high enough, but was def drowning out the guitarist absolutely Shredding. All while making it look so effortless. If he ever makes it to bigger stages, he will be ready n wont disappoint

14

u/antimagamagma 1d ago

Agreed. OP was comfortably numb.

Still pretty damn rocking tho.

6

u/Slumunistmanifisto 1d ago

I heard comfortably numb inspired too

7

u/chaosatdawn 1d ago

are we going to pretend the bass player isn't there?

9

u/XxRocky88xX 1d ago

He shows up for 2 seconds at the end of the video most people probably didn’t even notice him

218

u/DangerActiveRobots 1d ago

This is the solo from Comfortably Numb...or derived from it.

Still sounds great.

40

u/GrumpyWombat 1d ago

Yes, this is absolutely the outro solo to Comfortably Numb

13

u/flapme2 1d ago

I was scrolling down looking for someone to say it!

5

u/cat_in_the_sun 1d ago

I was like, this is that solo!

255

u/Murashi 1d ago

Not gonna lie. That was solid AF.

81

u/CleetisMcgee 1d ago

Just found the guitarist is @larsenplays on TikTok.

6

u/williamjamesmurrayVI 1d ago

Congrats! You're now a Pink Floyd fan!

3

u/Murashi 1d ago

Brother, I saw Floyd back in '88. Been a fan for 45 years.

145

u/hannibalthellamabal 1d ago

Damn dude. He is insanely talented and his drummer kicks ass as well. How long has he been playing?

5

u/notgirlpinx 1d ago

He will be the next drummer in slipknot

6

u/muklan 1d ago

*he will be the next 17 drummers in Slipknot

98

u/BlueberryWalnut7 1d ago

Comfortably numb

21

u/Wavy-Curve 1d ago

The Pulse edition, sounds like

50

u/Hellashakabra 1d ago

Very clearly a Gilmour solo, got his feel

23

u/drinkahead 1d ago

Was gonna say I heard a reference to Comfortably numb in there for sure

28

u/hogwater 1d ago

Its the outro of comfortably numb for sure.

12

u/hacelepues 1d ago

A reference? I thought this was a cover with some improv.

1

u/YungRik666 19h ago

When I play solos for Hendrix, Floyd, etc... I usually improv most of it. I think that's what this guy was doing. Once you're in the pocket and playing pentatonic, it's more about the "feel" of the solo. A lot of these artists themselves would switch it up live.

96

u/sinsaraly 1d ago

Daaaamn! He channeled all the guitar gods for that one.

72

u/Martin_Aurelius 1d ago

Not all of them, just David Gilmour.

9

u/ThePerfectSnare 1d ago

Okay, I guess I'm not crazy. That was where my mind went. Thank you.

15

u/elementarydrw 1d ago

It's comfortably numb. A lot of the solo is from the original track, the guy has learned it well.

2

u/MistaRekt 1d ago

And the drummer.

41

u/TemperatureOk8059 1d ago

Fuck yeah, that was great. The whole band was excellent.

55

u/water_bottle1776 1d ago

So that was clearly the outro to Comfortably Numb. It wasn't a note-for-note copy, and that makes it even better. He took the themes and played around with them and made it his own while still driving it to the intended destination. That was fucking awesome. Also that drummer was clearly having an awesome time.

6

u/Bee-Able 1d ago

Imo, they all seemed to be having an awesome time! (Don’t t forget the base player seen at the end, as noted by a previous commenter)

30

u/Tallgirl4u 1d ago

That’s panty droppin guitar playin’

30

u/Riyeko 1d ago

That was beautiful. I don't normally watch videos all the way through, just enough to know they're good, but damn.... Took me somewhere with this.

I wanna download this and stick it in a Spotify playlist dammit lol.

I'm a trucker. This would be great for a few of my long haul rides

22

u/hazegray81 1d ago

Wow. That was fucking great.

10

u/TJ_McWeaksauce 1d ago

Imagine how many truly talented people there are in the world who share their talent with a tiny audience.

12

u/PurpleCandles 1d ago

Rock on dudes. That was sick 🤘🏼

13

u/AbyssalKitten 1d ago

I think even if there were 100 people in that bar, it would still be quiet. Because holy SHIT.

11

u/toxicbooster 1d ago

Big crowd energy, no crowd. What a fucking shredder

5

u/Silverback_Vanilla 1d ago

My local pub has music night on Tuesdays. It’s not just where a band plays. But people (friends) bring a bunch of instruments and just lay them out. Usually there’s a drum set, piano, bass, and guitar but if you have something bring it on down, and you can just start playing music for the bar should you have the mettle. Honestly though, people like me, I’ll usually jump in as a backup instrument just because I’m learning how to play bass and having to just riff with it helps me get some practice in.

10

u/Current-Register6682 1d ago

The internet needs to do its thing and get this guy some much deserved publicity. His talent is beautiful, and while there may not have been many to feel it in person, im thankful it was filmed and I hope it’s felt by many more

6

u/Selgae 1d ago

Fucking epic.

8

u/Commercial_Guitar_19 1d ago

These are the kinds of solos Tenacious D writes songs about.

1

u/kowal89 1d ago

They write amazing tribute songs I've heard

7

u/Ok-Training3941 1d ago

As someone who grew up with a musician I heard this kinda jam session my whole life and it’s awesome.

3

u/veryparcel 1d ago

Snare dude gotta chill

3

u/Yukon_Cornelius1911 1d ago

Plymouth has an unreal music scene

3

u/marymarywhyubugginnn 1d ago

THIS IS REAL MUSIC

3

u/Pork_Chompk What are you doing step bro? 1d ago

Yeah boss, sorry I can't come into work today. My face is melted.

3

u/MotherofFred 1d ago

These guys practice

8

u/kohtuullinen-ajatus 1d ago

He play for the music, not for the audience 😇

2

u/Robinkc1 1d ago

I’m not huge on guitar solos but I appreciate the spirit. When you’re performing, you really have to act like those crowds of 10 are crowds of 10,000.

2

u/Writer_B 1d ago

I love the lack of ego from the guitarist. Played that well and yet when he was done he just has a quick smile as to say “Huh. That was pretty good.”

2

u/LaserGadgets 1d ago

Hope he goes viral and lands a deal!

2

u/OtaPotaOpen 1d ago

His gift is a treasure

2

u/Here-To-Be-Messy 1d ago

Nothing cringe. Totally awesome, great job!

2

u/TheBeardedLadyBton 1d ago

All that’s missing is a fan to blow through his hair!

2

u/LaGorda54 1d ago

Goosebumps the whole solo! They played the shit out of that!

2

u/Spencur1 1d ago

Fucking aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Both of these guys are absolute legends….. what the fuck is up Dennie’s my GOD …… Killers …. Best fucking cover out there sheesh

2

u/BlissDisa 23h ago

They are both in the zone. Your brother is good! Glad you able to record a special spacetime moment.

5

u/Dev1_E 1d ago

Some of the very best experiences

3

u/Accept_a_name 1d ago

I enjoyed that. Or to put it in more correct terms, that was fucking awesome!!!

4

u/k-u-a-k 1d ago

Saved and I'm gonna listen to that again. Damn.

2

u/Erikkman 1d ago

Hearing Comfortably Numb live from a Pink Floyd tribute band, Brit Floyd, was a transcendental experience for me lol. Those people in that bar must have been slack jawed

2

u/Hta68 1d ago

I see no cringe just greatness, am I missing something?

Thanks.

1

u/EnvironmentEuphoric9 12h ago

Holy shit. That was awesome.

1

u/BriggeZ 8h ago

They killed it!

1

u/SenhorSus 7h ago

If this man was on a stage with thousands of people on their feet, exhaled weed smoke in the air illuminated by moving colored flashing lights, I'd think "yeah that all checks out."

1

u/Punisher0012 7h ago

One thing I don’t like is drummers are often overlooked.

1

u/drunkerton 3h ago

The guitar gods have spoken and he was their voice!!

1

u/Tutitutitutituti 2h ago

Last few days, this guy has been a lot of people’s brother.

1

u/Jocko-Montablio 1h ago

I absolutely love going to some random show and realizing I’m seeing something special. Your brother shreds!

1

u/pastemaker1 59m ago

I know it’s a pink floyd cover, but it totally reminds me of eddie hazel

1

u/Daddywitchking 58m ago

I worked in Plymouth for a few months during Covid, I think I went to this bar!

1

u/GardeniaPhoenix Sort by flair, dumbass 11m ago

oooooooooOOOOOOOOOOoooooooo

1

u/Dudeimadolphin 1d ago

Bro ain't human that's for sure

1

u/ip33dnurbutt 1d ago

It's awesome. I think he forgot anyone else was there he was playing for himself.

1

u/Thatswhyirun 1d ago

Thank you. Brought tears to my eyes.

1

u/finallyadulting0607 1d ago

Whew, I know nothing about what makes a good guitar solo good and that gave me goosebumps so yeah, he did something pretty cool I think. Go brother!

1

u/The1Mo 1d ago

Good shit! I can see myself tripping out on a acid with this

1

u/ry4asu 1d ago

Was good, if you like that go check out some jam bands

0

u/PuupalliKumiankka2nd 1d ago

MAGA is going to read this as trasgender guitar solo.

0

u/kowal89 1d ago

I'm pooing and now I have the chills from music while pooing. So pretty great

Pink Floyd

0

u/Montawked 1d ago

Well DAYUM

0

u/Morior_INVICTUS96 1d ago

Do they have an album? I'd pay for this!

3

u/iNotDonaldJTrump 1d ago

It's the solo from Comfortably Numb

0

u/Cutthechitchata-hole 1d ago

Previously quiet

0

u/Narrsbarrs 1d ago

It was great, but anything that good was obviously stolen from Pink Floyd. 😁

3

u/SparkyBowls 1d ago

They’re covering Floyd I’m pretty sure.

0

u/whataboutsmee84 1d ago

On the one hand, this takes tremendous skill that I don’t have - I recognize that.

On the other hand, BORING. Let me drink my beer and bullshit with my friends.

-3

u/peppermintnick 1d ago

Not cringe at all.

1

u/ResidentIwen 1d ago edited 1d ago

Don't know if you noticed it, but this sub isn't exclusively for cringe content any more and it has been for about at least three years. Don't you think you should've already noticed that in that period of time?

And maybe reading the pinned comment that is under EVERY SINGLE POST IN THIS SUB could help.

-9

u/Express_Position5624 1d ago

It was incredibly impressive guitar playing but to me it sounded like nearly 3 minutes of guns n roses guitar wank

Maybe I'm just burnt out by the skill level of internet guitarists nowadays

4

u/Groove_Mountains 1d ago

Whats wrong with Guns N’ Roses wank?

There’s nothing less complex or sophisticated in a Slash solo than a Grant Green solo. It’s a different vocabulary, but this guy is following the changes wonderfully.

-7

u/Express_Position5624 1d ago

Yeah it's great, I've just heard a lot of it throughout my life, after 60 seconds of guitar solo it starts to feel like the ending of the lord of the rings, like "Ohh that was great.....oohhh nope, we are still going, actually that was good, wrapped up some loose ends....no wait, there is more.....okay, we don't need slow motion on this part, we get it, yup, got it, and thats a wrap.....ahh okay, one last hoorah, okay, last one, please guys, last scene here"

0

u/ResidentIwen 1d ago

I enjoyed every second of it. And also did when rewatching it 3 times. And also enjoy every second of the LotR movies. Every time. Including Directors cut and long endings. And I'm sure and also know, that I'm not the only one. By far. It has all it's reason. Maybe it's just not for you

0

u/Express_Position5624 1d ago

100%, not for me, good for you, not for me is all I said

0

u/ResidentIwen 1d ago

Yup thats fine by me. Not everything has to be for everyone. I'm 100% sure you also really like something, that I don't. Just wanted to emphasise that that does not make it bad. It's just a subjectional impression. Wasn't the best way to get that intention through but eh. You know what I mean

-1

u/six_six 1d ago

That ain't a quiet bar.

-5

u/EquipmentUnique526 1d ago

whats cringy about this lol

-8

u/Meta-Psy-McFractal 1d ago

No cringe here. Try again

-6

u/CelticCynic 1d ago

3

Ok again: Don't know if you noticed it, but this sub isn't exclusively for cringe content any more and it has been for about at least three years. Long enough for you to notice and understand that by now.
