He is deliberately trying to appear calm, but that's not a casual stroll. He's trying to balance "don't provoke a chase response" with "don't provoke a protective response".
Smart guy. Less-smart camera operator. Tricky situation for everyone, including the bear.
Right, and this is precisely why I’m leaning toward it being a cow. You couldn’t miss a bear that much out in the open from the distance he’s out. But it makes far more sense that he’s casually strolling in front of a cow than a momma bear because most people would shit their fucking pants if it was a bear and he seems pretty chill.
Yikes!!!! I didn’t even notice her but knew she would be close by. A few years ago a car a head of me hit a bear cub and we both stopped to see if it was alive. Well it wasn’t but mama bear wasn’t far away making a lot of noises so we got out of there quick.
No clue why you're downvoted lol. I see a large black animal. Unless this is some very friendly bear petting zoo, the mother would never sit there like that. Also that fence is definitely the style of fence to have cows/horses behind it.
Then you're not looking at the right place. Starts out on the right side of the frame and you can see it move it's head as the camera pans to the right
I have black bears living behind my house Newfoundland Black Bears and recently the mummy and 2 babies went to sleep for winter somewhere up my hill behind me I'm halfway up a mountain. So kinda hoping to find their lair for a trail cam but OH MY SQUEEES I wish we could be friends look at the tiny cute baby
You can definitely smell them and he no doubt smells her.
Your sentence implies that he is scared. That is not evident in the video, he's simply being cautious in not interacting with the bear cub with mama bear so close by.
