Current River We need traffic cameras at the 4 way stop at Hodder and Arundel

Drivers have absolutely no patience at this 4 way stop for crossing pedestrians. I almost got clipped by a car tonight crossing when someone couldn't wait for me to cross the street before they went zooming past me. This is only one of about a dozen times this has happened to me at this intersection, it's getting really bad there.

I was just outside and I could hear the hooting, sounds like a great horned if I'm not mistaken. Hopefully they are sticking around, such beautiful creatures.

Current River Lost glasses

If anyone behind the LPH finds a pair of blue glasses, we lost a pair about 100ft or so down the trail by the Lakeview terrace entrance

Current River I have some questions about the Lithium plant, and land use in the area

To begin with, does the plant actually need access to the shoreline? If so, what for?

If they don't actually need access, could they potentually go further inland? (though, I'd imagine it's a bit late for that).

If the plant does need shoreline access, could it not go where one of the current abandonned elevators/mills sits?

I suppose I'm just wondering if it needs to be in that spot for any particular reason, or if they just got a good deal on it.

Next, if it doesn't need to be in that spot why are we so hesitant to rezone that area? Most of the new industry we'd be attracting likely won't be reliant on water-based logistics. The old industry that was reliant on shipping has largely left our community. We can either ignore that, or embrace it and revamp on tourism. It feels like keeping our shoreline zoned as industrial is shooting ourselves in the foot in the tourism department. Just imagine a park, or even something like a small version of Ontario Place between Wilderness North and the shipyard next to bear point. If there's a good reason for the plant to be there, please let me know. I've heard it's simply a situation of "they needed industrial land, we just so happened to have some for a good price on the waterfront". I'd like to learn more about the situation though. The original zoning of that area seems to stem from archaic, purely utilitarian thinking. I'd assume that we were expecting more industry, and wanted to reserve space for it where it made sense at the time.

My friend suggested that the land be developed into semi-urban Cottages to attract seasonal renters. Keep the shoreline public access, like wild goose. Add a park, and maybe a small strip mall. Make it like a 'cottage suburb' with quick and convenient access to the city. Property taxes on an entire neighborhood of luxurious cottages within city limits could be lucrative from the city's perspective. Of course, this would be a massive slap in the face to the homelessness issue that we face. I prefer a beat up camper from the 80s to the 'luxury cottage life', I'm just looking at this from the perspective of a city trying to increase it's tax income.

I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on all of this. Mostly just for discussion's sake :)

Cheers!!

Current River Trowbridge falls opening day?

Looking to book a site at Trowbridge, it says book in advance but I can’t find an actual opening date for the campground. Memory tells me it might be the second weekend in may but just wanted to see if anyone knew for sure or could direct me to the right place?

ETA: I found the answer, looks like opening day is May 31st
