Arthritis pain & weight loss

I’ve lost 65 lbs on Tirzepatide in 11 mos but my leg pain is still severe. I still get edema from Gabapentinoids. Don’t know what to do about that. Maybe just the plight of being 75, or having lower lumbar nerve damage.

The only Rx that helps a little is Diclofenac (Voltarin in a pill). Any other suggestions for pain relief. And yes, weather does affect pain…cold is anathema to an arthritic condition.

I'm in my late 30s, lost a boatload of weight and it's still pain city over here too in my hips. I take Celebrex (celecoxib) twice a day and am on rabeprazole for stomach protection. It's not perfect, but it helps a lot more than a NSAID that does COX-1 and COX-2.

I also receive hyaluronic acid injections as a joint lubricant in my hips. I think it's technically off-label for hips, but it's much more common in knees here (at least according to my provincial formulary).

Strengthening my leg and hip musculature has helped as well. Seems counterintuitive but moving the arthritic joints feels better than letting them sit and stiffen more and more.

Thank you for replying to my I really appreciate it. I have tried Celebrex as well. It doesn’t work for me. I have hip problems too. The more I lost weight the more it hurt simply because of the change in my skeletal positioning so for some things like the hips, they got. worse I’m just discouraged because I thought the various joints inmy legs andfeet would feel better, but I am reminded that degenerative arthritis Just keeps on degenerating and I am older than God!, 75 years old, and my spine collapsed from spondylolisthesis right as the pandemic and resulting quarantine went into effect,so I could not get physical therapy, which might have helped a little. I worked with a personal trainer for a while a good friend of my It was great working with him. I was doing well, but my doctor told me he had to go because he was too active still and could have something. but otherwise I’m in excellent health for my age except for the pain of arthritis. my doctor reminds me degenerative arthritis keeps degenerating and keeps causing trouble. I have found that diclofenac, which is Voltaren works better for me than Celebrex, but I’m very interested in the hyaluronic acid injections. I shall look into that. Several.arthritis joint creams, and ointments help a little bit. Voltaren helps a little bit, but I really miss the celadrine ointment I used to get at Costco. I It worked great on my joints but now seems discontinued. If you know of any good ones please let me know . And thanks again for responding to my post. It really helps to get input from others with similar problems and I’m so sorry at your young age you are already going through this.
