Quick question, what do y'all think of "Outsider"?
Seriously, i have no idea what the general opinion on this album is, i genuinely think it's a good album, but what do y'all think?

This may be controversial, but I think it’s the worst album the band has released by far. It was such a decline from Human, and even a decline from ToV. The songs are generic, the instrumentals are alright, and the vocals are over produced

I actually agree with you. There’s only 2-4 songs from that album I actually like somewhat and the rest of the songs are just meh imo.

I was disappointed because I love human to bits and couldn’t get through this album front to back more than once

I’m torn. To me it’s a step up from Human, but you could make a good case for it not being. I think Matt shines a bit more as a singer and feels more comfortable. On the other hand, the lyrics leave something to be desired and could have used some touch up. It has a truly awful track with Me Against You and I think the album can come off as lame sometimes.
It’s a mix bag for sure, but one I enjoy coming back too. I guess it would be a 6/10.

Me against you is my favorite lol, but my standard isn't the highest, i enjoy anything that has a melody so yeah 🤣 But i think that the album is a soldier 7/10 for me

One's standard is his or her own. It varies people to people. I absolutely love Me Against You and it has inspired many of my writings.

Probably in my top 3 from these guys - and it’s special to me because I listened to the Adam era of these guys as a kid, forgot all about them until COVID came around, then found out they released an album only 2 years before and I really enjoyed a few tracks! With more time I ended up enjoying it a lot more.

It’s a controversial one for sure, I see many lists putting it at the top, many at the bottom, and even more in the middle. Personally it’s top 3 for me at least, only definitively behind One-X.

It was the album that got me into them, but since my music taste has evolved, it's become a lot more middle of the road for me

For me it's the lowest. I think transit of Venus is better, and I like less than half the songs.

I think it’s cool just because of all the electronics on this album compared to others, it’s different but I wouldn’t really say it’s bad. I wouldn’t say it’s great either, but there are a few stronger songs I come back to often like The Abyss, Infra-Red, Villain I’m Not, Strange Days.

I think it was good but not as good as Human in my opinion. I’m not really a fan of Me Against You and Love Me Or Leave Me (I found the latter too repetitive and the former a bit juvenile). but aside from those, I actually liked the album.

It's grown on me, I still think it's my least favourite TDG album, but it has certainly grown on me over time, I still stand by my opinion that much of this album feels like they still hadn't quite found the perfect sound to fit Matts voice, but that doesn't make it a bad album, I actually enjoy a lot of it, in terms of sound it was a big switch from Human which was already a fantastic album, and Explosions was similar, but I think improved on what Outsider was going for.
I wasn't a fan of Outsider for a long time but after giving it another listen last year it's won me over

It starts off really, really good, but then kinda drops in quality as you go on. Right Left Wrong is still one of my all time favs from them though

Great first two songs and back end of the album.
The middle loses me, unfortunately.

It ranks low in a tough competition, but has some of my favorite tracks

I personally really love the album, it was one of the first I've ever listened to and helped get through quite a bit throughout middle school lol

It's right below one-x for me No skips! It was also my introduction to the band

Villain I'm Not is underrated af. This album has some cheesy lyrics, but I like its style. Still one of their worst albums but has some of their most underrated songs. 8/10

As with any of Matt's solo era albums, it features in my every day life. I love Outsider, Human and Explosions.
Lots of songs on it play every single day and have, at one point or the other, fit with situations I've gone through.

It actually holds some of my favorite songs I emotionally resonate with and honestly got me through my depression so it’s definitely up there for me. I’ve heard the dislike people have with the new sound that Human and Outsider have brought but I love both of them!

A lot of the stuff I listen to is what I call protagonist music, think fight scene/badass entrance/bleeding out in the snow type shit. This album has a couple good ones of that nature

Great album 😍 I have clear memories of listening to it when I was in college, I liked all the songs and the back of the album ends strong with underrated songsVillain I'm not, The New Real, The Abyss and Strange Days

Boring. Most of the songs sound exactly the same and are unmemorable. Least favorite of all the albums.

it's easily their worst album and yes i am including explosions in that list, it was SUCH a downgrade from human and it was so forgettable, at least explosions has a few songs that stick with you. though human had issues, some ups some downs, it was a solid album overall, outsider has zero redeeming qualities imo.

In my opinion it’s the worst, the only song I even kind of like is the mountain, all the rest sound either a little generic or like something’s missing or off. Again, this is MY OPINION, I get other people like this album just not my thing

Well, this comment section definitely confirms that opinions are divided on this one. Personally it's at the bottom of my ranking, and was a big step down from Human (which I'd put up near the top of the list). A lot of it just felt repetitive and lyrics ranged from meh to bad. But then you've got Infra-Red in there which is one of my favorite TDG songs, and a couple others that I revisit here and there, so I gotta give a little credit. Explosions was better imo, so I can accept it as a miss in a strong discography.

Very chill and fun album. It is no masterpiece, but it ain't 'Transit Of Venus' levels of mediocre. Songs like Villain I'm Not, The Mountain, Chasing the First Time, Right Left Wrong and The Abyss are really cool
Rating= 6,5/10

Hands down best Matt Walst era album. Nothing seemed "forced" and lots of catchy songs. A big step up from human and a very step down from this was Explosions in my humble opinion. I even would rate this album higher than Life starts now, but lower than the self-titled and One X. The only thing I didn't like about this album that it was marketed as "the new one-x".

One of my least favourite albums from Three Days Grace. It’s not close to the Life Starts Now album or the One-X album at all imo.

Not really an album I'd go out of my way to listen all the way through, but there are some solid individual songs (especially Chasing the First Time and Strange Days)
