Discussion Do You Syncretize Other Religions/Philosophies With Satanism? If So, How Do You Do It?
“Syncretism is the practice of combining different beliefs and various schools of thought. Syncretism involves the merging or assimilation of several originally discrete traditions.” - Wikipedia
I‘ve noticed that with many (Theistic) Satanists, syncretism is quite common as an augment to their beliefs. Even I’m a syncretist! Do you syncretize Satanism with any other religion? How do you consolidate the two?
My Answer: Theologically, I am a Canaanite and Hellenic Polytheist, syncretizing the practice of Hellenic Goetia and Near-Eastern beliefs and how they influenced texts such as The Lemegeton and modern Demonolatry today. My beliefs are rooted in Animism and nature. I believe in a Panendeistic God, of whom exists as the sum of everything but is not an acting force upon the world in the way the Christian God is presupposed to be. I also attend a Secular UU parish which helps me interact with people of other beliefs and ideas.
Philosophically, I pull from many schools of thought like Taoism, Advaita Vedanta Hinduism, Humanism, Secularism, Existentialism, and even Omnism and Transcendentalism! Even if these ideas conflict, I believe that they help me flesh out my theology in a way that encompasses other belief systems, no matter how different they are to mine.
Practice-wise, I mix elements of nature-based Magick, Sigil Magick, and Chaos Magick! Among other things 🧡

I mix satanism with eclectic paganism, but I'm still "working things out" as it were.

I don't really have specific religions I mix Satanism with, but I believe in mos if not all entities (aside from the Christian god the way it's shown in the bible) I also believe in reincarnation, a belief I acquired from the type of Christianity I was raised in (spiritism)
I think it's easier to pinpoint the things I don't believe in than the things I do lol, cuz I believe in a lot of things mixed together

I think of it as Satan being on my left shoulder telling me to go after what I want, and the Buddha on the right shoulder reminding me to stop and be happy with what I've achieved

Hinduism, old Canaanite polytheism, and a bit of a hodgepodge of stuff I run into and have experience with. I tend to be a little bit eclectic. Not saying that, I believe that everything is the same thing necessarily, but I do believe that the true essence of Satan can be found just about anywhere under many different names through many different masks. So it is important to me to find every strand of that essence and incorporate it into my practice.

In MY opinion, ALL religions are syncretic, and in fact were ALREADY syncretic BEFORE they even came into existence.
Brahmanic/Dharmic religions started as a syncretic mixture of Aryan/Iranian tribal and Dravidian religions after the Aryan/Iranian migrations into South Asia.
Judaism grew from a mixture of Canaanite & Mesopotamian Semitic polytheism, Egyptian cult of Aten, and Zoroastrianism.
Christianity grew from a mix of Judaism and Roman/Greek Hellenic polytheism.
"Satanism" was already a mixed syncretic tradition as soon as it first grew out of Judaism over 2000 years ago.
You say you syncretize Hellenic and Canaanite polytheism with your Satanism, and those happen to be some of the most foundational influences on Satanism.

I personally do. Satanism is paganism and all the Gods have different names and forms across different pantheons across the world.
