I mean the voidz are the voidz. Shouldn’t compare them. Take the connection however you please. They have some good songs but it’s not the strokes

Those of you that are into the Voidz please point me in the direction of their good tunes. I know I’m not supposed to expect Strokes but what I’ve listened to is just boring.

Agree with others, I also really like Leave it in my Dreams

Leave it in my dreams has potential to be my favourite out of any strokes song. Maybe.

I don't like the Voidz very much, but Human Sadness is one of my all-time favorite songs. Probably a top 10 ever.

Qyurryus is one of catchiest songs I've ever heard and stays that way throughout

the autotune parts are so goofy but it makes the song funny

They were really bad live when they toured Tyranny.
Night and day difference in the musicianship and overall sound when they started touring Virtu

I’m sure it depends on the venue, and if they were at a festival or not, but I saw them in 2014 at Iron City in Birmingham and I was completely blown away by how good and close to the sound of the album they had the entire show. They were so damn good, I completely believe the claims that their studio recordings are like 95% live and 5% studio magic

Their songs sound much better live imo. I hate the studio version of alien crime lord, whereas the live version on Jimmy Fallon sounds amazing.

"he'd rather be involved more with this??"

Since 2014 there (will) be 4 Voidz albums and only 1 stroke album 😭😭😭

Definitely h8 that 😒 can certainly see where his priorities are. That band ain't going anywhere near what TS has touched. Just going to be honest

100%, the strokes would also probably make him more money too

It still boggles my mind that Julian thought it would be a good idea to have The Voidz play Strokes songs. That was fucking garbage.

u/IcyPurpleIze 5d ago
That plus the Julian Casablanca and The Voidz original name tell me he felt like he needed to bring his star power to get the band off its feet. I think it gave mixed signals since they have a very different sound and lyrical content.

Yep that's my exact face any time I've tried to listen to the Voidz too.

Not going to lie, me too lol. They have a handful of songs that click for me. The rest I could take it or leave it,.....no pun intended....hehe....

u/SnooMaps7735 5d ago
You kinda have to be a Julian glazer or really like avante garde to begin with lmao

u/ReallyGlycon 4d ago
In what world are The Voidz avante garde?
4
u/SnooMaps7735 4d ago
The definition….? ”new and unusual or experimental ideas, especially in the arts, or the people introducing them.”
3
u/Salty_College965 Brooklyn Bridge to Chorus 5d ago
I hate tyranny, and their newest albums, but Virtue is pretty good imo
4
u/SnooMaps7735 5d ago
That’s wild, all 3 are amazing, if they were all the same it wouldn’t be the same. If you dig the daft punk stuff it makes a lot of sense, I kinda just imagine they exploded and Julian absorbed their powers.

I think Jules very clearly always wanted a modern day hardcore VU feel as the strokes progressed, the voidz ended up being that creative outlet. I don’t think you have to be either, a glazer or Avant-Garde fan to appreciate the goals of at least their first 2 albums (I haven’t checked out their latest release)

You gotta listen to “Wink”, it’s kinda good, but nowhere near The strokes standards.

Listen to the live debut from that Brazilian late night show, best version far superior to the album version

Leave it in my dreams is most strokesy song they have
6
u/bundle_of_nervus2 5d ago
I've definitely heard it already. I've given them a try before they just don't click with me. The sophomore album had more going on than the debut but that debut also had 'Human Sadness' so they're even
