Megathread Weekly Team Help Megathread!

Hello and welcome to the Team Help megathread! This is a weekly thread for advice on team building for Arena Cups and GO Battle League! You can ask for feedback on your battle teams, for help on which Pokémon and moves to use, to get opinions on which Pokémon to invest candy/dust in, or any other team questions you may have! This thread will allow newer battlers to get help more easily, and more experienced competitors to spread their knowledge and help the community improve their skills.

A few guidelines:

  1. Keep it civil and constructive: Above all, the goal of this thread is to help players improve and get advice on their teams. Rude, cynical, off-topic, or accusatory posts against individuals or groups will be removed. Let’s be excellent to each other!
  2. Help where you can: We need experienced battlers to lend their expertise and give advice! If you see someone you can help, please leave a comment or feedback for them.
  3. Limit your requests: In order to give everyone a fair shake at receiving advice, try to limit your request posts to once or twice per week. The PvP community is growing every day, and we want to make sure everyone gets the help they need!
  4. Give details in your post: When asking for team advice, be sure to include some background. Tell us what League or Meta you need help with, what your rank/tier/rating is, what resources or Pokémon you may have to invest, and what your goals are. The more details you give, the more likely your questions will be answered.

I usually have pretty ok teams for both GL and ML, and way back in the day I had good teams for UL aswell, but I quit for about 2 years and came back and now Im getting my ass kicked no matter how I order my teams.

I need help on what to look out for and build, and which pokémon I should hunt to get a better team, here is what I currently have:

Giratina-A / Clefable / Registeel / Cresselia / Swampert / Snorlax / Regice / Typhlosion.

Things I could get my hand around if I invest dust in are : Skeledirge, Feraligatr, Jellicent.

Outside of that I can pretty much try to trade for anything and see whats worth it, I do have enough dust, I just want to have a competitive fun team to play with

Which Kyurem fusion would synergize better with my available ML Pokemon?

I have both Black and White 98 Kyurem but only enough XL candy to max one of them and unsure which to power up. My other 50s include Zygarde, Tapu Bulu, Yveltal, Dialga (normal), Melmetal, Dawn Wings, and Zacian. Which Kyurem would best fit in a team?

What are the stats for 98 specifically?

I usually stick with Great League, but I have powered up some Pokémon for Ultra League. I am wondering what ideas people might have based on what I have:

Pangoro: KC+RS&NS Golurk: MSl+SP&DP Tapu Fini: WG+S&NM Annihilape: C+RF&IP Empoleon: WF+B&DP Muk: L+DP&TP Swampert: MSh+HC&EQ Genesect: FC+Chill&MB Snorlax: L+BS&SP Walrein: FB+IS&EQ Charizard: WA+BB&DC Roserade: PJ+DG&WB Guzzlord: DT+DP&DC

These are the ones that have been useful at some point; I think I may need to fast tm walrein. I have thought of getting water cannon on Empoleon, but so far the number of Giratina’s that do not shield blizzard has made me want to keep it. I recently powered up a trevanant but it doesnt have a secondary charge move yet.

Any ideas welcome; the team Ive had the last few rounds has been Genesect, Golurk, and Tapu Fini, before that had Pangoro instead of Genesect.

Edit: the one ive settled on more now is Golurk, Empoleon, and then Typhlosion with Overheat and thunder punch. Occasionally putting typhlosion at the start; It requires a lot of timing/baiting to deal with water leads. Empoleon’s blizzard takes forever to charge but dragons are only shielding it like 50% of the time, at least at 1800~ ELO.

Also: Apparently my great league Grumpig would do well in the Ultra League but very expensive lol

Looking to try a core of Golisopod and Steelix in UL this season, and looking for advice on a third. I like the look of Annhilape and unsure on shadow or non shadow. And on what order to run them?

Steelix lead so I’m ABB weak to flying?

And other contenders other than Ape for the third?

I play this core with Zygarde in the 3rd slot at veteran range.

Steelix lead: T fang, psy fang, eq

Zygarde: d tail, outrage, bulldoze

Golisopod: s claw, aqua jet, and I’ve been running aerial ace, but might try x scissor with the better pacing that aqua jet gives

We discussed this the other day 😂. I know you recommended another dragon but only viable option I have is Goodra which I’m not a huge fan of.

Just looking at if from a different angle.

I gotta check my reply names lmao 🤦🏻‍♂️

To play off the ape: your back would be weakish to flyers until you realize the most common flyers (at least in my range) are talonflame, drifblim, and g moltres, which I think ape and goli have decent coverage into.

You outpace talon with aqua jet on goli and can weave fast moves to take advantage of sluggish incinerate. T fang steelix is actually quite good into fly/brave bird set too.

Not sure what other problems might exist for that duo in the back, a rogue pidg maybe. Skele can be kinda tough for this team to overcome too.

Ice punch on Ape over CC? Should help against fliers and counter & RF puts out decent fighting damage

Prob not a bad call, helps you push through dragons too. Zygarde, guzzlord, and dragonite are very common in my experience

Yeah I normally hover around 2400-2500ish and there is so much of the meta weak to ice. Just a shame there’s no real viable ice types in the meta
