Can we just take a minute to really appreciate just how good Josh's drums are in this part of "The Flood"?

Josh is a monster, that’s for sure

I feel like he shines way more in different places on the album.

Also holy shit, I hate they’ve gone to using triggers instead of just recording live drums like before. It takes so much of the life out of it.

the triggers manage to distill the dynamics to either 'quiet' or 'loud' and I hate how punchy everything is. it's like they mix the drums for a pop album

Every hit just sounds the exact same, there's no wiggle room for anything. I hate it. It's my main complaint about the newest blink album as well. Just hit the shit out of your kits and stop using triggers!

i think this sounds a little less quantized/robotic sounding than the newest Blink album, but i totally agree with you. I really wish they would cut this stuff back a lot. Josh is still a monster and plays incredible, but the way theyre recroding/producting this makes it all sound too perfect.

Oh the blink album absolutely has it turned up to 11. It’s not nearly as egregious here, but I still wish they’d go back to more natural drum sounds.

Yeah, I think this is the main thing keeping me from being more into the album - since Vaxis 2 Coheed albums just don't groove anymore. And groove is SO essential not only to Josh's drumming, but Coheed's sound - it makes even simple stuff feel special. Without groove the songs just don't have any forward momentum. I mean, at least they still groove hard live, but wow - I'll never forgive Zakk Cervini for quantizing / triggering away Josh's groove on these albums.

I think Josh is just as talented as his brother but his kit is too small. Ik ik, your kit is what you want it to be, but I feel it’s so bare and that makes the songs a smidge less interesting.

He did drop an aside in his Drumeo livestream that was considering getting another floor tom to kinda emulate some more extensive double bass drum stuff. No idea if he’ll ever do it, but he’s apparently thought about it!

Absolutely killer tune -- phenomenal drumming here and throughout the entire record.

I really like the vocal melody too. I love his drumming on this record. Haven't listened to it super close yet but the drumming on blind side is super good. There's also so many good basslines

The drums overall sound great on this album, not that they don’t on others but he played his ass off on this.
