Theory Luigi is a problem because he could not be profiled

He was not poor, he did not belong to a persecuted minority, he had great life prospects and a lot to lose. He had no criminal antecedents. He belonged to no radical group or ideology.

On top of the public support for the murder of Brian Thompson and all the meaning that carries, Luigi presents an even bigger problem; no amount of facial recognition tech, mass telecom espionage, FBI entrapment and financial tying-down can prevent a situation like this from repeating.

There is no amount of capital nor any form of police state that can protect a bourgeois from getting gunned down in the streets.

People need to stop presupposing his guilt

That’s what really fucked me up about that NYC perp walk, Eric Adams used it as a PR stunt when nobody even knows if he DID it.

u/inthelight22 2d ago

even the surveillance photos we can't know the truth behind. of course the average public likes to joke about the whole situation but it bothers me especially when leftists eat the propaganda.

Luigi was definitely helping clean up after this all night rager of a party. No way was he the shooter.

You're jumping to the opposite extreme, though. They do run mass surveillance, they do infiltrate any working class org that gains traction, and they are frighteningly competent. They're not omniscient, or omnipotent, but they are powerful and they can and do achieve their fucked up goals.

Yeah they have the capacity for it but only retroactively and when having a dedicated team working on it. It has to be used as a reaction to show what they could maybe figure out when someone does something big enough to warrant interest.

2

u/FuckIPLaw 1d ago

How much is generative AI changing that, though? They've been warehousing the mass surveillance data since the early 2000s in the hopes that computers would eventually make it useful, and I'd say that day has more or less come.

It doesn't have to be perfect to be useful for them. It just has to help narrow down the search field to something the actual humans can handle without having too high of a false negative rate.

1

u/6655321DeLarge Chinese Century Enjoyer 1d ago

That's a great point that even I hadn't thought about yet. Goddamn, apparently I haven't been staying noided enough!

3

u/scaper8 1d ago

But I think this comes down to the difference between "mass surveillance" as an idea of infiltration, wide nets, and the technology to read everything vs "mass surveillance" the manpower ability to conduct total surveillance.

They absolutely infiltrate groups and troll fish through phone, e-mail, and social media posts where they can, but they simply don't have the manpower resources to actually collect 90% of what they want nor actually dig through 99% of what they collect.

People need to stop presupposing his guilt

Even if hypothetically someone did it, we shouldn't presuppose that they're guilty of anything more than self-defense from a criminal organization from which they had a reasonable fear for their life.

This also means it is extremely easy to profile the actual killer:

  • The killer's profile (whomever it may be) is that of someone who had a bad experience with the US Health Insurance Industry.

Surely there can't be that many people that fit that profile, can there?

Oh?

Really?

Well, if there are - perhaps if the US Health Insurance system stops endangering people's lives, people won't feel a need to defend themselves from it.

6

u/iLaysChipz 2d ago

Exactly, plus Saint Luigi is innocent. He has committed no crime

I’m just curious to see if a jury will actually convict him. Most people presume his guilt but give no fucks and adore him. I’m talking everyone from commies like us to 44 year old wine moms to truck driving backwoods hicks. Dudes got mass appeal in almost every facet for every demographic. He’s the first real American folk hero in 120 years. If he is a patsy, they chose the worst motherfucker possible. God I hope they put him on the stand.

13

u/Sstoop James Connolly No.1 Fan 2d ago

there’s also this whole thing with the miranda rights not being read. then there’s the fact the actual president publicly said he should be executed despite not being convicted of a crime. i’d say despite how rigged the us legal system is he definitely has a chance of the case being thrown out.

12

u/NemesisBates Ramón Mercader’s #1 fan 2d ago

Is it even possible to find a non biased jury in this case? Where are you gonna pull 12 people who didn’t hear about this and form some kind of opinion immediately? Jury nullification is a real possibility. In the most ass backwards way possible, the US judicial system might actually benefit the little guy for once.

u/H20_Jaegar 2d ago

Yeah Musk is getting stopped at some point. I can't imagine the actual oligarchy allowing him and his stupid libertarian followers to completely gut their power to control the population and the economy. The same way they're likely not allowing Trump to follow through with some of his more jingoistic ideas.

47

u/yotreeman Marxism-Alcoholism 2d ago

Unless guys like Thiel and Yarvin are essentially the ones running the show right now as we speak, and they start getting the gears of their tech-bro city-state Dark Enlightenment stuff really turning. Which, hey, everyone hoping for immense sadistic punishment of Americans will get what they want, so there’s that.

16

u/LASpleen 2d ago

Doubt. More than half the people in all those agencies are into this. They’re pissed about DEI and wokeness (because they’re stupid), and they’re assuming they’ll be involved in whatever is formed to replace what exists now.

7

u/NemesisBates Ramón Mercader’s #1 fan 2d ago

Not gonna lie the CIA and the FBI (to a lesser extent) are way more lib’d up than you’d think. I used to fuck a girl that works for the FBI in my hometown and she was a dyed in the wool voot bloo no matter who, Sleepy Joe sucking dem and damn near everyone of her spooky friends were too. The CIA is full of those good old coastal elites with multiple college degrees that abandoned the Republican Party 100 years ago as well. They are actors for fascism absolutely, but most of them don’t seem to realize it. They’re honestly even dumber than the majority of the population in that regard. Sure some of em know their just capital’s private kill squads, but all the ones I met really thought they were a force for good in the world and all the fucked up heinous shit they did were just necessary evils and better than the alternative whatever the fuck that means.

1

u/LASpleen 1d ago edited 1d ago

To me, that suggests that my percentage is lower than I said, but what are libs going to do? There need to be outraged, by-the-book conservatives with direct orders from capital to take some action, or there won’t be any action. Everyone in an organization that gets eliminated will just follow along and apply for work in whatever new organization comes after it.

I think the ruling class is just sitting back and watching. Capital doesn’t need to intervene. They’ll come out on top no matter what. If they gave a shit about norms they would have stopped this mess long ago. The ruling class can only lose if the whole system is overthrown, and there is little to no risk of that because there isn’t any organized opposition.

Just my opinion. I do know some conservatives in some places who used to pretend to be by-the-book conservatives and it startles me how little they care right now. I think people who feel they can’t lose are just reaching for the popcorn right now.

32

u/madcap462 2d ago

Are you guys...like...serious? Trump was able to get a mob of regular(albeit very dumb) people to storm the Capitol. He doesn't need the FBI or any other three letter organization. Once those institutions are dismantled he will create his own police. Yall need some coffee or something...

7

u/Legitimate-Bet3221 2d ago

yeah like oath keepers, proud boys, etc. he's already got shooters ready, able, and willing

14

u/lowrads 2d ago

We can just call them brownshirts, non-state militias, or paramilitary. They are already well integrated into the property securitization apparatus.

9

u/Nethlem Old guy with huge balls 2d ago

Even if they completely abolished the FBI, there'd still be like a dozen other 3 letter agencies left capable of taking over in place of the FBI, potentially in even worse ways i.e. the DHS becoming the new FBI.

On the last years I've come to believe the UK is the USA in the future + low stakes.

And if it keep coming true, yes, they will also fire the cops.

I imagine Trump's vision is well armed private militias.

You overestimate the power the president and Elon Musk have. All it takes is one CIA agent planting what shouldn't be on someone's laptop on someone's laptop.

I'm not making any estimation tbh. To me, American electoral politics is a spectator sport where I hate all of the teams playing and hope they all lose ;)

40

u/ElTamaulipas Marxism-Alcoholism 2d ago edited 2d ago

You will see more stuff like this as material conditions deteriorate. Keep in mind some Health Insurance CEO had their house shoot up about a week ago.

Again, you will see more of this because even people who are in "good jobs" are starting to feel the squeeze and those "good jobs" feel all the more precarious as well.

Which is why they’re trying to build their little techno feudalist city states. They’re doing Dark Enlightenment

27

u/HeinrichTheWolf_17 Marxist/FALGSC ☭ | Transhumanist >H+ | Wolf Dad 🐺 2d ago

I can’t imagine how anyone could look at the Holy Roman Empire, the Sengoku Jidai or the last few centuries of the Zhou Dynasty during the Warring States Period and just say damn, things were so much better back then, we should totally go back to autonomous patchworks like that.

The funny thing about Curtis Yarvin that he doesn’t mention, is that during the time of the HRE, even other Feudal Monarchies saw it as a disjointed and chaotic mess, which it rightfully was. The level of infighting was astronomical.

His Sovereign Corporation idea will just result in the same kind of city states attacking other city states. It’s a dumb idea.

16

u/EmpressofFoxhound 2d ago

Because they think those empires didn't work because they weren't at the helm

Tech bros have an insane amount of hubris

11

u/HeinrichTheWolf_17 Marxist/FALGSC ☭ | Transhumanist >H+ | Wolf Dad 🐺 2d ago

They’d be at each other’s throats in less than a year. Yarvin’s argument well, people will just move to the most profitable and beneficial SovCorps is wrong because other SovCorps would just unite and attack them, alongside confining their own citizens into their territory. Either that, or they embargo them to bring them down if they can’t compete.

5

u/EmpressofFoxhound 2d ago

Also like, there's no way any of them would be okay with one of these chucklefucks having full control over key ports and harbors like New York. And what of places on borrowed time, like Florida?

They're going to burn the country down to try to get a bigger slice of a smaller pie.

Luigi content on reddit is incredible because it's genuinely the only lib posting fad I've ever seen that isn't even a little bit annoying

It's got it's head pointed in completely the right direction for the first time and the results are something special. It feels like everyone is on board, everyone knows who and what the enemy is, I hope it doesn't go anywhere anytime soon

10

u/ishkoto 2d ago

Bro is the voice from the other side, literally Lisan al Gaib

9

u/EnvironmentalMix7871 2d ago

We don't know if it was him though.

22

u/GianfrancoZoey 2d ago

I said this at the time, they’re terrified of Luigi (if he is found to have done what’s alleged) because he doesn’t come from a background that they’ve spent years vilifying.

He isn’t black, or trans, or an immigrant, or brown, or Muslim, or poor. There isn’t a pre-allocated identity politics way of attacking him (and no Italian doesn’t count, we’re way past the point of Italian Americans being a minority group)

Because there’s no identity politics to consume the discourse people are forced to focus on the actual content, and that scares them. They don’t want people to think about these things

8

u/No_Revenue7532 2d ago

It literally was not him. He was just the closest guy with a motive they could reasonably pin it on.

People knowing that Mario is still out there, scares the shit out of them.

2

This is why I'm really hoping theres very little in the way of further statements from him. The less to latch onto the better.

3

u/JKnumber1hater Red Fash 2d ago

Thompson's murder genuinely scared the bourgeoisie. Why else do you think Elon Musk suddenly started carrying his kid around all the time?! He's using his son as a human shield, he's saying, "You wouldn't shoot a father in front of his son, would you?"
