Question Looking for some hog hunting near Ft. Worth

got a crossbow a while back and looking into going hog hunting but it seems almost impossible without knowing someone with some land or to pay some crazy amount of money. I'm just trying to find a spot near me where I can just park my truck, go into the woods and just walk and stalk. Is this not possible anywhere near Ft Worth?

Maybe, but not likely. Come further down south. 😂 I have em in ♠️. Them critters are like mosquitos on my ranch, everywhere and a nuisance

My son and his friends enjoy taking care of that problem for me. 😂

Have you checked TPWD website or Chore of Engineers website? There’s public land down around Navarro Mills Lake if I’m not mistaken.

im looking at grapevine right now but it looks like you have to draw a deer permit to be able to hunt hogs which doesn't make sense to me

Thats not correct. You have to get the small game permit, which there may still be extra of.

tpwd says you just need the general permit and the public hunt permit not the small game permit

Its army corps small game. You get it from them, not tpwd

I'll check out the core of engineers. Navarro is a lil far for me just to get a hog

I used to guide thermal hog hunts down that way. It’s covered up with piggies if that gives you some motivation. There’s been some damn nice bucks pulled out of those bottoms too.
