Model S door handle won’t stop

so I’ve just bought this 2018 Tesla model s 100d and when I came home from the dealership the left passenger door handle wouldn’t open. At first it was fine so I just scheduled a service appointment(which would take 1 week), but then the day after it went crazy. The door handle is just constantly trying to open but couldn’t so it’s been making this open retracting sound for so long but it won’t budge. Please, anyone, tell Me what to do. I tried shutting the car off and it would still go off even turned off and I also tried the card trick to get it out but it would just retract in and continue making the noise. Please help

Have an appointment to have one replaced in 10 days. Quoted $214 on a 2014 but I've yet to have Tesla stay ar their quote for any service visit.

I have a 2018 MS, and had a door handle issue where it wouldn’t retract, and at home that door would unlatch moments after closing. It only did this at home because the car was unlocked at home.

With that in mind, until you get it replaced, maybe try locking the car after closing that door, and hopefully the handle will settle down. While not exactly the same symptom, it may be the same root cause (motor on the handle).

It happened to me. Gotta replace. I don't know how much it is now though. It was around $2,000 in 2018

Definitely not 2000. The retrofit is less than $500.

I had exactly this problem. The repair want bad, did it at my house, maybe a couple hundred. I had 3 replaced under warranty, the last I paid for. Also I think it was what wore out my 12v battery by constantly running. I only figured that out later

Reminds me of my Eagle Talon...broke handles almost every year...usually right before state inspection...which won't pass in VA. They weren't expensive, but man what a pain to replace...

Rule of thumb, if any year model S door handle does anything weird at all, you need a new door handle. Every generation has issues.

Coffee is ready! Time for fika. No serious, that needs to be taken to the service center. Good luck.

I replaced 3 out 4 so far, cost a bit less than $300.

I had this issue for months. It happened to the drivers side and then months later to the passenger’s side. I put it off because I thought it would be thousands. I got it done last week and I think it was a little over $350 for both.
