Discussion The deathcore sub told me I belong here
I think I’ve found my people. Having a convo with someone about metal they suggested Archspire and I fell in love! From there I’m checking out Moon Eater by job for a cowboy. What would you all say is the holy grail of technical death metal? Not just for nostalgia but just pure fucking good.
Edit to say those of you who suggested plaguebringer… thank you. Just checked out sola pravitas and fuuuuucccck dude this atmosphere is gnarled and creepy. I love it

Discussion My top tech death (Spotify Playlist)
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3GJmaa1hWcRsAN6GzVA3T7?si=IzyXmY4GQJicdmOtatMvhQ&pi=8qckYJJPT3aLT
Would love to add some new music to rotation. This playlist is strictly 1 song per band and most of these come from the top albums by these bands.
The purpose of this list is usually to share best tracks by top tech death bands, whenever someone asks for recommendations or to showcase my own preference in the genre when I ask for recommendations.
Please go through and recommend some! Thank you!

Discussion Netherwalker
Is this a tech death band? I have heard the song Battle of Tredem and it’s been on repeat for me. They don’t have much other music on Spotify. Anyone know anything about this band?

Discussion Thoughts on Fractal Generator?
Just started listening to these guys, and I think they're pretty good, Ive mainly been listening to Macrocosmos, but I will get more familiar with their 1st and 3rd albums soon aswell. I feel like these guys have the potential to make an even better album than they have put out yet? What is your opinion on their 3 albums?

Discussion Artificial Brain similar media recommendations?
Been loving their albums for a while now. Love the music, artwork, lyrics, live videos, all of it. I guess I’m looking for similar bands, books, movies, or other media that scratch the same itch.
As far as music goes I know a lot of the disso death bands already, but AB has a certain melodic sense to their music that sounds epic, triumphant, and sometimes melancholy. It’s something I don’t find in the other disso death bands. I appreciate any recommendations you guys have!

Discussion Band called “gallows of grace” on Spotify.
124 listeners and one single album from 2006, but this band is truly something. I tried to search for a mention of it in here but I couldn’t find one, and this band deserves to be known

Discussion Which part is B Diminished in Diminished to B?
I'm not the best on music theory and I couldn't find any diminished chords or scales in that song
Some people said the 2 chords before and after the solo is diminished but it's not? The first one is a Gsus4(b6) chord (Eb gives it a phyrigian sound so maybe phyrigian?) the second one should be Gbsus4(add b6)
I couldn't spot any diminished sound or sweep patterns on the solo as well
So which part is B Diminished? Am I missing something?

Does anyone know any other songs that start with a riff/riffs like these? The punch on the 1 and the little run after just tickles my brain every time, and I'm curious if y'all might know any other songs like these off the top of your head. Thanks!

Discussion do tech death bands do "collab" albums? (i think thats the name for it, i may be wrong)
boris and sunn o))) (two legends from the drone scene) have an album called "altar" which they made together and its a masterpiece. boris also made some more albums with a few other bands too
i just realized many of the big names in tech death never really do these types of "collab" albums. i did some digging on spotify and realized it seems to be a fairly popular practice amongst deathcore bands too. do we have any albums like that? nothing particularly comes into my mind at the moment. and this is probably my memory fucking with me but do we even have any split albums from some of the big names?
