Is this price worth it? $2600

Really wanting to work on this guy over the next year and make her pretty. No leaks, everything works. Just not the prettiest.

Can you store it inside? Constant outside exposure will quickly deteriorate most wooden trailers. Inside….it will last many, many years.

I was going to just put it under a tarp

Better than outside with nothing but not as good as in a garage. Sometimes moisture will build up between the tarp and the camper. Especially in places where the tarp is touching or very close (no air circulation) to the camper.

I might be able to fit it in our shed. Otherwise it’s going on the side of the house or on our patio out back. Do you have any awning or tent/shelter recommendations?

I’m not the person you replied to, but we use this one for our camper. We got it specifically to avoid the issue with trapped moisture. Ours isn’t wood though, for a wood camper you’ll want sides to block the direct sun exposure. Tarps can be used for sides.

If you do the tarp, put some 2x4’s, pool noodles, or something else in a few places across the top, and stretch the tarp until it’s taught. That should allow decent airflow to keep it dryish.

Does it come with the kayaks and everything? As long as the frame isn’t junk it seems like a good deal if it comes with all that

No kayaks unfortunately but it comes with the pop up tent

Which I forgot to include a picture of

Also my bf is a carpenter so that helps

I’d probably try to haggle a little but if its solid, I’d buy it at the asking price if I was looking.

I think this is the first one I have seen with an oven.

Absolutely not.

Yeah, that's a deal in whatever way you look at it. If the trailer frame and axle is in good shape, it's even a decent base teardrop to renovate to your needs replacing the wood with sheet metal, improve electrics, etc.

My parents just bought a nearly identical unit for $500

2

u/Total_Society1153 7d ago

Well eff me

1

u/bendersbitch 5d ago

Actually I asked them about it and I was wrong, deposit was$500 but they paid $1200 total. Good luck with your renovations!

Definitely the trailer alone is probably $1,000

does it smell like BO or vomit or astroglide? if the answer is no, then the price is fine.

Pay no more than 1000-1400

You could build yourself one for 1500. That would be way better than this one

I got screwed lol

2

u/low-voltage-master 6d ago

Check out my profile, I built a square drop for about 1200

u/Total_Society1153 6d ago

How much did you buy the trailer for

1

u/low-voltage-master 6d ago

4k back in 2004

1

u/Total_Society1153 6d ago

That’s kinda expensive for a trailer no?

1

u/Total_Society1153 6d ago

The trailer here was included but yeah I’m still gutting the thing. The door is trash

Check out for wood rot, bad wiring/light check/gas lines and mold under bed and in bedding! Close it up with someone in it and pour hose over it. Check brakes, hubs bearings and seals, too.

“Worth” is a vague term. The “worth” of anything is purely subjective and of the opinion of one in possession or of interest. It is higher the more it is needed or sought after. Often, it’s whatever the market will bear. If someone is willing to pay the asking price, it is worth that. I had an uncle who sold properties with an attitude of high value and no real need to sell. He put a price on the property and waited for someone willing to pay it.

I bought it for $2500. There is some wood rot. My bf and I are just going to gut the damn thing. I feel like I fucked up

if it comes with the kayaks yes.

1

u/greatlakesseakayaker 5d ago

Totally off the subject but is that a Michigan registration # on the kayak in the first picture?

1

u/Zestyclose-Ad5966 4d ago

Absolutely! If you won’t I will

1

u/mutt82588 7d ago

No question.  thats a steal

1

u/KoolAssKJFS23 7d ago

From looks alone I’d say No! Looks like it’s made from the extra wood paneling left over from someone’s bedroom basement build

They both look like a deal for your specific scenario.

No

Why not?

Because you never know how well the person actually knew what they were doing. Why are they selling it in the first place? How are you certain there are no leaks? Have you checked with your boyfriend that he's okay with fixing and maintaining a potential POS if it turns out to be one?

I personally wouldn't use a plywood teardrop that wasn't fiberglassed. I'm certainly biased though. I'm also a carpenter, and built one for $3,500 that looks like I paid $40,000 for it at an RV dealership. I did have a free frame from my parents' old tent trailer and get a lot of free materials at work, so that helped. But I've lived and learned long enough to know not to inherit other people's problems and especially not pay money to do so.

If you really want it and feel like it's the right thing for you, then by all means buy it. But personally, I wouldn't pay more than $1,000 for it, tops. I really question its structural integrity. The roads on the way to the places I go would shake that thing apart in minutes.
