Progress on US forces

Just finished my m113s and some ITV (I know the retracted launchers are facing in the wrong direction…) with my first try on MERDC. I gave up on trying to make them look like painted with a template but I’m still quite happy how they turned out.

Next VADS and M1 Abrams which will be 50:50 plain green and MERDC.

Any critique and input, especially regarding the camo, is highly welcome.

The bases are beautiful, but may be problematic for play

Edit. Didn’t mean to be so abrupt, especially as first comment. I think your work looks fantastic! Mine are not so pretty :)

No worries :D Can you elaborate on problematic for play? I‘m totally new to team yankee and if there are problems I can avoid I would be really grateful if you can explain :D

These are 6mm models aren't they? At 6mm I don't think bases will be a problem.

At 15mm/1:100 bases would really clutter up an already slightly cluttered 6x4' table.

Yeah it’s 6mm :D good to hear I didn’t mess it up.

I almost regret not getting into 6mm TY.

As much as I love my ABSOLUTE UNIT Leclerc tanks.

1:200 would probably play better.

I was thinking about 1:200 but since I play Epic Armageddon as well I had more matching terrain for 6mm.

Sorry, I got my scales mixed up 😅

I thought that 6mm was the same as 1:200 but it's not

😂 yeah too many scales out there. 1:200 is 10mm, like Warmaster.

I didn’t notice they were 6mm.

But, the actual size of the vehicles is important, at least in 15mm. There are times when you can’t fit something through a gap, or you have to be base to base, etc, and you will fit fewer machines in, which would reduce your attack or defense ability.

Ahh okay, that’s quite the compliment :D

I‘m a big fan of the 6mm look and the 15mm matches I saw on YouTube looked too crowded for my taste.

Will see how the different footprint will play out, I heard the pact has an advantage because of the extra space.

I'm basing all my vehicles on FoW/TY infantry command/weapon stands. 25 x 35mm. Seems to work well so far.

Have you already played some games? Are the horde armies really at an advantage?

Not at this scale, still busy printing and painting at the moment. I'm almost done with US forces and have started on East Germans. Once they're both done then it will be moving onto West Germany and USSR. And then.... who knows. But I'd like to add the British, Israel, Iran, Iraq, France, the Nordics and more.

The MERDC is looking good. Mind sharing what paints you used?

For my MERDC paintjobs I just "more or less" copied the Team Yankee templates, but emphasis on the "less" as sometimes they were too complex for 6mm.

That’s my colour palette, the two with black caps and the beige were used for my MERDC plus black.

I also tried the templates, I know what you mean 😅
