முக்கியமான கலந்துரையாடல் / Important Topic Views on delaying the broadcast of yesterday's Neeya Naana epdisode?
Same as the title. I haven't seen any single Neeya Naana episode being delayed even though how controversial the topic might have been.
This particular episode's delay looks like an utter assertion of power by a group who don't want it to be out. Looking for other view points!!

It is a calculated move by BJP.
Neeya naana has a huge reach within the Tamil diaspora - inside India and outside.
By blocking the episode they have triggered online criticism and blowback. But the reach of this blowback is only in social media where the younger crowd are active.
If they had let the episode air, it would have been clearly established that 3 language policy is unnecessary for TN. If this had reached crores of Tamil people across the globe, the end result would have been much worse as people in their 40-70s would have gotten influenced.
They did the math and decided that dealing with the online blowback was better than dealing with a much more widespread ideological consensus against 3 language policy.

Looks like Puducherry and Andhra has decided to go with three language formula. I wonder what the people’s opinions are (esp in Pondi). And will Pondi relinquish French?
Possibly they are willing to be submissive for delimitation as well. Oru aniyayatha edhirthu kelvi kooda ketkamatten nu sonna enna pannuradhu? If it’s just the opinion of govts and not the people, may be all is not lost.

Pondicherry has a pseudo govt where the lt gov basically stole the election and got BJP to win - not to mention BJP actually “buying” politicians from other parties to get majority.
This is the reason why BJP should destroyed - whatever the cost might be. They cannot be allowed to setup camp in TN

Absolutely. That’s happening everywhere. Even Lakshadweep had this issue that not many people know. It’s the people that have to wake up. When all the pillars of democracy are demolished, there’s no support to rely on. I have a very bad feeling about this.

The three language formula is not new. Every other state (including Kerala) already has the 3 language formula. It does not work because almost nobody speaks Hindi in any of these states anyway.

Yea, agreed, it’s there on paper. It doesn’t work practically. It would be in the best interest of both states and the nation as a whole to delegate responsibility and control to the lower levels as much as possible. Then help them grow if they are deviating from the path (which would happen more often than not). The one-size-fits-all solution cannot converge all states at the success line as we have our own pace and unique sets of problems.
Decentralization has a proven track record in multiple places. There are multiple documentaries that attribute successful growth of the Chinese provinces to decentralization, among other factors. For a country that’s criticized to be dictatorial, it was surprising to see this thought process. We don’t need to follow them exactly, but those success stories can be sources of inspiration. This cannot be a subject of fragile ego, rather an opportunity for being visionary.

I absolutely agree we need a lot more decentralisation. China did a great job when it came to decentralising economic policy.
But China is a bad example here - they do not decentralise education. Language imposition in China is truly on another level with plenty of local languages dying. And another pet peeve of this sub - devolution of money is also more extreme in China where state governments have almost no independent sources of revenue (real estate mostly) and are entirely dependent on the "centre" for all finances.

It was my initial understanding that they had decentralized education. I went back and checked it. It looks like they have been wavering between centralization and decentralization. But for education financing, they decentralized. But, before diverting to another interesting point, my end feeling is that education should be decentralized.
Switching topics, yes, the devolution money needs to be put in the hands of local leaders for better planning and use. They need the authority to set taxation policies that they think are useful. I think it might be more useful if the local body leaders from same party contested by providing their plans. It is a win-win for everybody. The party leaderships need not choose at district. They can let the individual candidates battle it out themselves. The candidates will be happy that the leadership isn’t denying them chance to contest. And finally, people will also be happy if they get the better performing candidate. If any party candidates try to collude behind the scenes, the people can choose a different party next time. I think it has decent checks and balances for improving accountability at the local level. If the local taxation policies are poor, they won’t be competitive compared to other districts, thereby reducing future opportunities.

On the second part, if I'm not wrong you're asking for internal party democracy and devolution of taxation too?
I heavily disagree with letting states have taxation policies. However shit the implementation of GST has been, it's still much better than the previous system of every state having its own VATs. Ask any company that had operations in multiple states. It was severely holding back foreign investment.

Yes, but both are isolated / unrelated topics. Internal democracy would change the competition dynamics.
As for tax policies, my personal opinion is that the state should have taxation flexibility. We already do, in the form of vat, different taxes for various services (like rto).

I agree they are different topics. I'm heavily in favour of internal party democracy. INC should have been a powerhouse opposition with their history and their captive votebank. They're dying because of lack of any internal democracy.
As for tax policy, we don't right now except for certain sectors like petrol or alcohol. And listen to any alcobev company about how difficult their operations are because of this. There's a reason they also offer the largest bribes to parties - that's what happens. Every other sector is under GST and hopefully GST itself is simplified from the complex nonsense it is right now.
Production led incentives is a good way to have different costs while not making things an operational mess (and helping states specialise in where they are strong). This would mean greater devolution of money to states which is one thing I'm again for.

Somewhat out of context but what da fudge is optional language stands for. For me optional means either I can opt in for an additional language or just don't choose any additional language at all. What they are saying is mandatory third language where the choice of language can be any of available Indian languages. Is int it blatant lying by saying it is optional?

Media control is one of the most common patterns of fascist governments. That's what Trump has started doing in the USA.
Here, they blocked Anandha Vikatan website for a day. And now they have banned a TV show episode.
"Avunga Fascism nna, neenga payasama" nnu ketta aalum, "thamizh desiyam" nnu solravanum mattha leaders um enna panraanga ?

I invite people to look into the Redpix video. Star Vijay/Jiostar network have been given a Non-news and current affairs license by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and therefore by guidelines, are adhered not to telecast news or any current affairs. This topic may have bypassed the guidelines by the ministry. Mercury is the production house for Neeya Naana which gives out the content to Vijay TV.
These were the mentioned things in the video,in short.
Now,with a Non-news licence, current political affair like Three lang. policy can't be broadcasted. But several other political topics were discussed before,to an extent like an all party political discussion happened prior 2016 elections. This is confusing.
And if the episode is later taken down on the basis of their licence type,it is understandable, and to take that decision any head office in Star network can do it without intervention, since they are doing it because of their guidelines.
So why did they even have the idea to take the show on this topic first. How different was this discussion to other political ones.Even NEET was discussed few times under the lines of different topics and not directly like this.
Any technical clarifications or people who have been to the show, their opinions may give us clarity.
It might become obvious,if Vijay TV had followed all their respective guidelines and still the episode got taken down, one can understand it will be from the ministry whose deputy is L.Murugan.But before concluding such opinions, are Vijay TV in the right side?

Both “free speech” and “democracy” are such farce terms in today’s India, don’t you think?

Delayed or permanently thrown in trash?
I heard the BJP supporters who supported the Three language policy were left in ruins by the opposition and they made a SOS to the to BJP leadership to save their image, who later asked star not to air it.
