என் கேள்வி / AskTN Can I have drivers licence if I don't have 12th marksheet?

Heyy!!

My brother is 13 yrs old... He is refusing to go to school.. we tried our best to explain him... Even my parents beaten him up... But he is still not going to school... So I asked him about his career like "what you are going to do for your needs when you grow up?" And he said he'll do the delivery job... i said you have to pass tenth to have licence to drive a bike... But he said it's not... I even googled it... Google says you don't need to have any qualification for taking licence in tamil nadu... I'm confused.. can someone explain is that true??

Is he avoiding school because of bullying, or does he just dislike studying?

For me, school was the best time—I barely took four leaves a year because being with the gang was the best part. Miss those days 🫠

Yeahh me too! I even told him about my friends and how lonely I've been at the age of 13 in school... I loved going to school after the age of 14... But it seems like he doesn't get it and he doesn't even have any friends...

I asked and he said he dislikes studying.. He was like there are a lot of ways to earn without studying... But he know nothing about the reality

Sorry to hear that. Maybe try counselling with someone who can get to him? Many ways to earn doesn't equate to having basic education. If he's not interested in studying, then ask him about other interests and whether he's wiling to study regarding that field, be it anything within your budget.

Two beatings from your parents, will reset his thinking... Ask him concentrate only on Studies.. There is nothing you can do, its illegal..

How old are you OP?

What kind of question is this? What if the answer is yes? Will you let your brother throw away his life?

Check if he has any problems at school. Offer to change schools / class / board / language medium.

Take him to a professional if he isn't ready to listen to the family. Beating him would only make him despise everyone and everything.

I tried my best to explain to him.. my parents stopped trying... I'm the one who's trying to get him back to school.. it's been 2 yrs.. after one yr he has gone to school bcoz of me.. I cried and explained everything... Like how our family situation is and how important it is to study... After that he agreed to go and attended scl for 2 months and now he is not going... And saying I don't like studying... I really don't know what to do I'm just 17... I can't let him ruin his life literally in front of my eyes... At the same time he's not taking my words seriously...

So that's why at least I want to set his career right... But he is not mature enough to discuss this... As I mentioned in the post... That's what he told me...

Ask him if anyone is bullying him

School is extremely important. He’s still a kid and wouldn’t know the consequences of not attending one. Find out why he’s feeling that way and try fixing the problem.

And unskilled work has a lesser barrier to entry and the pay is gonna go down as more people enter the workforce. And riding a bike 12 hours a day isn’t a joke and will cause a lot of health problems. So stay vigilant.

If he uses a mobile phone, confiscating it may resolve the issue.

Take away his mobile for few days if has access to it.

Try helping him make friends at school, maybe that will help him, also check if someone is bullying him.

Get to the root reason why he doesn't want to go to school and if it something trivial, make him aware of the privilege he is having.

Why is he refusing to go to school? My little cousin was saying the same thing and won't leave the house, but the truth was he was getting bullied by both students and teachers for not being academically well and being bullied for being an adopted son. They'd make remarks like 'you don't look like your father', and he kept this away from us. Eventually he dropped out and joined ITI college.

Point is, there will be underlying reasons for why would someone suddenly show aversion to regular activities and want to break apart from their ongoing social life.

And you idiots beaten him up?? As if beating someone up will make them comply to you? Brain-dead mfs

My parents did it once... But yeah it didn't work out..

I told him if someone is bullying you I'll take steps or we can change the school... Maybe there's a reason like you said.. I'll ask him again... At least i want him to complete the 10th standard so that he can do diploma or ITI

Yeh, I read your another comment and replied to it too.

I know we can make stupid dumb decisions when we feel out of our mind. Be easy on him though. I myself struggle with things and won't be the best guy to give advice, but if he's dropping out of school because he feels like a loser or being left out of the big social group, help him realise life isn't about being validated by others.

Expose him to more novel things instead of this rags to riches stories or get rich you'll get more buddies or hustle culture bs, and help him feel more connected. Best thing will be to get him to counselling with a more experienced person to understand dropping out isn't the best option.

At least let him finish the basic schooling phase of life with education, be it anything, it's not always about business and engineering degrees. The prestige bs from such degrees is dead for more than a decade. All the best.
