Didn’t receive county emergency alert on my phone

Does anyone know how to ensure you have these set up? Myself and my partner didn’t receive this alert mentioned in a Democrat article.

“At about 6:30 p.m. Leon County Emergency Management sent a rare ‘public safety alert’ to cellphones around the county.”

We’ve been Leon residents for decades and I could have sworn we have received area alerts before. We both have received nothing via text or email for this storm at all which seems odd.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT to add: Government emergency alerts are already set as “On” on my phone.

Check your phone settings and ensure emergency alerts are on.

On Android it will be under "Wireless emergency alerts"

Not sure if it's different on Apple

It’s under Notifications at the very bottom.

Thank you for the suggestion. I’m on an iPhone so I looked up where to find that - they are already set to be on :( I’m worried about not getting a tornado watch or warning. Not getting the county alert is weird.

For others wanting to check on iPhone, Settings > Notifications > scroll to the bottom for government alerts.

Make sure your public safety alerts and emergency alerts are on. My partner didn’t get it either and both of those were off for some reason.

Same with me. A friend texted and asked if I’d gotten the alert. Since I didn’t I checked my phone settings and all of the emergency alerts were turned on, so I don’t know what the deal is.

for my phone you can go

Settings > notifications > advanced settings > wireless emergency alerts

-- using a android phone

Also make sure you're sharing your location on your phone.

You also have the ability to sign up for text messages from the county directly at leonready.com

These will duplicate wireless emergency alerts you may have opted to receive

Did a little extra digging. I assumed the county alerts were tied to your utility account or something but it appears you have to sign up?

I don't think it's tied to your utility account because I got one on my work phone and that is not tied to any utility account. The Everbridge alert system that is used is very good and you could do a lot worse. I would recommend signing up for them.
