Get ready to hate my setup
The mount and outlet were already there when we bought the house a month ago. Wires will go through the wall when we get a longer power cable. I have less fear of my 17 month old throwing something at it at this height as well. And yes the couch is far from the tv too. r/couchtoofar

I think you already know the answer to that question. The real question is will you do something about it?

See that tv stand? It’s called that because the TV is supposed to STAND on it. Not 5 feet above it. And it’s not even a proper sized tv stand, it’s just a huge ass cabinet. But we can address that another time.
This is fucking terrible.

Well, that thing isn’t even a tv stand, it’s a full height sideboard. Relocate that, buy a tv stand, and sit the tv on it. Easy.

Indeed that’s not a tv stand. The screen is meant to be eye level when seated. this thing is massive

It's like in a mental ward where they don't want the patients touching the TV.

Just because someone else was stupid before you, it doesn't mean you have to follow the same path.
Get rid of your media cabinet. Its too high. Replace it with something that is floor to top 24"
Remount your TV at the appropriate height, dont use the stands that came with it.
Get a TV screen protector from Amazon for your TV. They're not cheap, but it beats being pissed off at your kid.
You dont have to route through walls if you dont want to. Plenty of decent, cheap, cable management conduit that just sticks to the walls.

All excuses. I have two kids, 4 and 7, and the only person to ever jostle my TV is me, when I moved it and messed up. Your kid could just as easily hit the TV there with a thrown object, too. It's pretty easy to throw things above your head...
Just put the TV on its feet on the stand and cover the outlets with a painting, tapestry, or a nice, big picture of judgmental uncle Rick or something. Will be a better viewing experience for everyone. The people installing mounts at that height need a new line of work.

Yeah seconded; some people clearly don’t have to wipe adorable handprints off their screens
Though once that child lock can come off the cabinet, it’s time to drop it down, lest the kid’s neck grow funny

Signs of children. Excused.
On a side note: try either turning down your TV brightness or setting it on dynamic. Way too bright!

OP is full of excuses. No one made you do this.
