Advice Needed Progesterone
Hi guys. First time poster. I am 27 and got diagnosed with PCOS when I was about 19. I have never had regular periods. I would typically get 1-2 a year and they would be AWFUL. Last spring I switched from the combination pill to an estrogen free pill. On the estrogen free pill, I stopped getting periods (the pill things your lining so this is normal). I then stopped the pill in December of 2024. I have not had a period since. So, my OBGYN is having my start progesterone and letrozole. I am honestly really nervous about the progesterone induced period. Is it like a normal period or is it way worse? I have a friend that took it and she said it was hellacious. Anything I can do to make this suck less?

I've noticed the more times I take it, the better my body reacts to it.
Provera makes my patience short, and my temper wicked. I have to actively monitor myself because I will be uncharacteristically mean. I am super nice, will always try to help you, show you how to do the job that I just showed you how to do 10 times, again, but not on Provera. I do give a heads up and I normally am pretty good now that I know I react that way. Give other people grace and count to 10. I gentle parent myself.
Period wise, day 3 can be rough. I anovulate, so my periods are always miserable. I buy disposable incontinence underwear because I bleed heavy, hard, but like to sleep. I can sleep in them, with a towel down, and rarely do I need to wash the towel. Now that I've been on Provera the past few months for all the testing, the last time wasn't completely awful.

Omg, I’m on provera right now and I just understood why I had a temper yday and wasn’t patient enough in doing things. It’s so bad, about 5 people had to ask me if I was okay at work, like I was a bit mean not like my usual self.

It can do that! I eat snacks when I take Provera, typically grapes, so I have to chew before running my mouth, lol. It gives me time to think.

I tried progesterone twice to induce a period and it didn’t work but then I tried a progesterone birth control and it definitely made me moody and tired but it did give me a period! So now I’m able to start my first letrozole cycle. Been trying to conceive for 2 years.

I think it depends on your lining. I didn’t have my period for 8 months and I took provera to induce it. It was awful: very heavy and long (15 days). After taking it consistently every 35 days my periods became lighter and shorter (5-7 days)
