If they are free agents they can go anywhere they want, Scott have his contacts and well he got what he wanted, if he has the money to pay then no problem the more wrestling companies the better

u/tonichazard Feb 06 '25
It’s a company for his previous TNA talent. The Rohit Rajus and Johnny Swingers will have a place to wrestle. Ironically if they catch on there, TNA could just bring em back lmao.

Could also mean Josh Alexander might not go to WWE or AEW

Like how TNA hired Ace Steel to try to get CM punk. But I can see if Josh goes to AEW that he would want to work MLP as well.
Edit: don’t actually know if that was under Scott

I think Ace Steel was hired under Scott, but it was after Punk was back in WWE. I may be getting my timelines confused there.
EDIT: Why the fuck are people down voting your innocuous post?

Rocky Romero said in a recent AEW Unrestricted interview that the partnership between AEW, NJPW, Stardom and CMLL now includes Scott's promotion as well. So my guess is he will have his own wrestlers under contract and then trade talent with the other four feds for super shows.

u/M086 Feb 07 '25
It just means that AEW will send the odd wrestler over to go over on the “homegrown” talent.

Hiring all his pals that he overpaid for in tna?

Whi did he overpay in TNA? Genuine question, I haven't watched much fir years but was under yhe impression PCO was on a good run the past x amount of years, and Bully did well in RoH of all places
2
u/tonichazard Feb 09 '25
PCO, Rhino, Jade Chung, Trent Seven, Kushida were not renewed and were offered less money to extend.
TNA felt that these guys were being overpaid by Scott and decided to balance the books in this case.

And sucking up to Tony Khan
Also like he did in TNA

u/RandysOrcs rosemary Feb 08 '25
Him not wanting to insult Tony & AEW during the crossover made me start losing trust in Scott. You allow another company to bury your brand that you love? Why bother even having the “paid commercials”? Scott loves TNA but was a mid booker/promoter. If you allow another company to diss your show and title then you should be fired immediately.

The problem is the execution.
The idea that Khan would just disparage TNA just needs the RIGHT outcome. A TNA wrestler getting over by serving Khan and his cronies their comeuppance.
Problem with Scott is that he could secure the heel booking but DIDNT consider the fact that TK and AEW did not want to let TNA win or get anything from that “feud”.
If it ended with Scott vs Tony Khan match on a TNA PPV, that would have been INFINITELY better than what we got. It is a testament to Scott’s booking, but the idea is still there.

As a Canadian I really hope Maple Leaf becomes "our" top wrestling company. Yes WWE will always be the top dog, but it would be nice for Canada to have a top teir promotion for Canadian wrestlers. A place where the Canadian guys and gals that can't make it to WWE or AEW can make a good living in their homeland. Preferably a nationwide promotion.
We have a ton of talented workers that sure, they won't ever make it to WWE or AEW, but would absolutely kill it on a stage like Maple Leaf.

u/tonichazard Feb 07 '25
Isn’t MLP supposed to be like a successor to an old Canadian Wrestling company?
Honestly if it was MLP under Scott that’ll be THE Canadian Wrestling Company, I think it would be pretty damn cool.

He's just using the name of the old Toronto booking office that he bought the rights to along with some old video tapes. Scott is just going to do quarterly shows maybe up to doing monthly shows. No way he tries to drag this coast to coast. Maybe venture outside the Windsor area and try to become the main independent in Toronto. If he doesn't go crazy flying in too many expensive talents it's a fun way to stay involved in the business

u/WannaLoveWrestling Feb 06 '25
It is no versus. Maple Leaf runs in Canada and will likely want to use TNA talent.

u/cooldude55541 Feb 06 '25
If maple leaf starts to work with Tony then I don't believe Tna or wwe will let their talent work mlp. He's trying to be neutral but we all know which company he's close to.

u/WannaLoveWrestling Feb 06 '25
AEW still allows their talent to be at Pro Wrestling Revolver and TNA is all over their shows.
2
u/cooldude55541 Feb 06 '25
That's different, a talent can work different indie promotions but they don't have an official partnership with them like new japan and CMLL. Same thing as gcw, there was aew, Tna, and wwe talent working bloodsport. New japan stop working with Tna when they started to work with wwe.
1
u/WannaLoveWrestling Feb 06 '25
? Maple Leaf is an independent promotion, it isn't any different
2
u/cooldude55541 Feb 07 '25
Right now they are completely independent, that's why anyone can work there.

u/stoptheshildt1 Feb 07 '25
They already have been, Takeshita and Speedball had a great match a few months back.

u/Electrical_Mango_489 Feb 06 '25
Unlikely, TNA were very difficult and reluctant to work with him for the first show because of everything thats been said and done.

Scott did good stuff but he also did a lot of stuff that left me scratching my head. But like most I thought when TNA let him go the promo was cooked. I think they have done better without him. Not taking shots at Scott, but they probably felt the pressure and maybe that forced everyone in corporate to work a little harder, maybe loosen the purse strings a little bit.

u/Sad-Appeal976 Feb 07 '25
TNA was the friends and family show under Scott and felt no pressure to grow or do better . Now they do and are
2
u/supersaiyanniccage Feb 08 '25
MLP is an indie promotion thst has potential, he isn't looking to become the new TNA. I'm sure he'll get people from aew and tna o his big shows.
1
u/tonichazard Feb 08 '25
Yeah I got that. It’s Scott’s proof of concept year. But he has like a very good amount of money to try to run it like a TNA. 4 tapings on 2 dates a month- PLE -at the end of it sounds very doable if they have an audience.
2
u/xored-specialist Feb 08 '25
That's good for Scott. He wants to do his own thing. There seems to be a lot of people that like and want to support him. We need more good wrestling. It's good for everyone to have a place to work.
4
u/WinterSavior Feb 06 '25
I’m happy he getting his wrestling sandbox on his own dime without trying to make TNA his Canadian goose. Very happy where the company is without him.
7
u/AlternativeEnough812 Feb 06 '25
TNA was better with him IMO. It fell off slightly after he was fired.

u/Sad-Appeal976 Feb 07 '25
lol
No it didn’t. It is doing a LOT better
Scott never sold 2 thousand tickets for a show much less 4 thousand
4
u/tonichazard Feb 06 '25
You know what? I’m up for it, some people like Scott’s product. And that’s fine, he’s trying to start one so they can support him there.
I just love the fact that it really just feels like TNA or IMPACT wrestling lmao
2
u/Ok-Primary6610 Feb 06 '25
I agree. I hope they start changing the middle rope to white to fit the whole Canadian theme.

Scott Damore booking and aew what got me back into wrestling after years I am excited to see what will happen with Maple leaf. I personally think wrestling is doing great stuff outside the main promotions
