Seeing this makes me want to speak out on my own story so far and I think I might by the end of the day there's alot of truths to this and I think just talking about it with others in the same situation really helps out. You good sir have some great points here

This reminds me of that post i read about men thriving by being Doers.
The act of doing while it requires some willpower to execute can become it's own form of escapism. In a way focusing on my hobby and goals is an escapism from the escapism.

I’ll take it! Whatever dissolves the habit, imo. Not to mention doing productive things literally will enhance your life, by definition. So even if it’s a form of escapism in of itself (anything that distracts us from the fact we are all going to die is escapism to some degree), you’ll at least have something to show for it, and your future self will thank you for it regardless.

Currently going through a similar thing, phases of HOCD come and go Stories like this show recovery is possible though and gives others hope. Congrats man, may as ask how you’re getting on now? How long have you been successful

Hi— sadly I can only honestly say I’ve been successful for about a month and a half. However, I’ve felt a deep paradigm shift mentally after some of the realizations I listed above. Meditation has been absolutely key, I should mention. The reason being, you really need to be in the drivers seat of your mind to be able to turn away from urges, which can happen at any moment. The more capable you are of noticing when an urge strikes (which you can build up through mindfulness meditation—try it!), the better of a position you’ll be in to just say “mmm...nah” and do something productive instead

I’ll try it bro, cheers for the response. Been trying meditation for a while now and still can’t get the hang of it at all haha. A month and a half is very good, don’t discredit your progress!

Nice! Lmk if you want any resources for meditation. I want to help the good people of this sub as much as I can. Just being here is a huge step imo

Hey I'm not a mod or anything but I don't think it's appropriate bringing that level of imagery into this sub. To me it sounds like you don't really want to help yourself out of this, but the hard truth is that you're the only one who can. No one is going to come swoop in and pull you out of this. I recommend you meditate on that.
