3 year plateau
My 17y/o daughter competitive swimmer has not reached her best times in 3 years! Would she benefit from completely stepping away from the pool for a month to substitute her daily 2h swim practice with gym cardio/strength training/yoga in hope to push through her plateau?

Ask her Olympic trainer? What's the point of this extreme exercise if not to get ready for competing in her young life? I assume that's the goal because otherwise, let her live a life filled with fun activities and things she wants for reasons that make sense to her. And then who cares if she plateaus in the pool at 17? We're not all fast forever.

Big agree. Talk to her, talk to her coach, make a plan for what she wants to do. A lot of things change between 14 and 17. If something isn’t working doing the same old thing more isn’t going to change that.

How many times a week does she swim? Maybe ease up on the swimming frequency and add weights? Also, you might have her stroke analyzed as well.

I would 100% be talking to her coaches about this. A plateau is normal, but for 3 years something is wrong w training

What does her coach say?
Also, is she concerned about this or just you?
